What Is A Wind Turbine?
A wind turbine, or alternatively referred to as a wind energy converter, is a device that converts the wind's kinetic energy into electrical energy.
Wind turbines are manufactured in a wide range of the vertical and horizontal axis. The smallest turbines are used for applications such as battery charging for auxiliary power for boats or caravans or to power traffic warning signs. Larger turbines can be used for making contributions to a domestic power supply while selling unused power back to the utility supplier via the electrical grid. Arrays of large turbines, known as wind farms, are becoming an increasingly important source of intermittent renewable energy and are used by many countries as part of a strategy to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. One assessment claimed that, as of 2009, the wind had the "lowest relative greenhouse gas emissions, the least water consumption demands and... the most favorable social impacts" compared to photovoltaic, hydro, geothermal, coal, and gas
How Do Wind Turbines Work?
A wind turbine turns wind energy into electricity using the aerodynamic force from the rotor blades, which work like an airplane wing or helicopter rotor blade. When wind flows across the blade, the air pressure on one side of the blade decreases. The difference in air pressure across the two sides of the blade creates both lift and drag. The force of the lift is stronger than the drag and this causes the rotor to spin. The rotor connects to the generator, either directly (if it’s a direct drive turbine) or through a shaft and a series of gears (a gearbox) that speed up the rotation and allow for a physically smaller generator. This translation of aerodynamic force to the rotation of a generator creates electricity.

  • It's not someone's choice to opt for 3, 5,7 or 9 blades. The lower the number of blades, the higher the rotational speed. Aerodynamic efficiency increases with number of blades. Just remember, less wind speed in the area - needs more number of blades to rotate. Higher wind speed- less number of blades, will give faster rotation.

  • In Punjab average Windspeed is about 8KM/h which is not suitable for wind turbine, Wind turbine needs at least 10km/h You must see the wind speed before buying it.. You probably needs more fans if wind speed is low, or if wind speed is fast, you need less fans. It all depends upon your area.

  • Its a very good idea of a wind turbine installed at home. I want to know, How it is giving a regular and stable supply as an output specially when there is very slow wind or even no wind. And in other case, if there is very high wind like storm, how the fan movement is kept stable for charging. I have seen a battery, is the out put is taken from battery????

    • You don't know the real technology perhaps that's why you trying to Support extra. The solar plates system isn't workable for long time, need regular cleaning of of panels, makes or generates Energy average 6-7 hours Round the year, ROI ( return on investment) isn't workable, it's doesn't match pakistani weather, if you connect( definitely) to grid , it's not beneficial, it's takes ur whole roof, as you see in pics , it's totally depends on sun.   • اسلام علیکم، میں نے کافی ویڈیو دیکھی ہیں جو فری انرجی کہتے ہیں پر ہوتی نہیں. اب جب بھی کوئی ویڈیو نظر سے گزرتی ہے تو بغیر دیکھے آگے کردیتا ہوں لیکن آج پہلی دفعہ آپ کی وڈیو نظر سے گزری تو فوراً دیکھنا شروع کردی کیوں کہ آپ پر ایک trust built ہوگیا ہے کہ آپ نہ ہی جھوٹ بولتے ہیں اور نہ یی آپ کی وڈیو miss guid کرتی ہیں. عظیم بھائی آپ سے ایک درخواست ہے کہ یہ بھی بتائیں کے پنجاب میں یہ کتنا کامیاب ہے کیونکہ اس کو اچھی خاصی ہوا کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے، اگر ہوا نہیں تو یہ فضول ہے اور پیسے ضائع ہوجائیں گے. میرا خیال ہے کہ یہ صرف کراچی کیلئے مناسب رہے گی نہ کہ پنجاب. میں لاہور میں رہتا ہوں اور یہاں ہوا اتنی اچھی نہیں.   • the average wind speed is important to known before to purchase a wind turbine because the turbine efficiency defend on it.if the wind speed is 2m/s it produced only 1.5watt power if speed is 4m/s output will be 10watts and if speed is 8m/s then power will be 80watts and if you want 400 watts then you need a speed of 15m/s.
