Ryse: Son of Rome is a 2013 action-adventure video game developed by Crytek and published by Microsoft Studios. Set in an alternate version of Ancient Rome, Ryse follows the life of the Roman centurion Marius Titus as he becomes one of the leaders in the Roman Legion. Gameplay revolves around Marius using his sword to strike enemies and shield to deflect attacks. Execution sequences are featured in the game, which are quick-time events that serve as an extension to combat. The game features a cooperative multiplayer mode, which tasks players to fight against waves of enemies in maps that are changing dynamically.

    • I think the opposite. The game is beautiful, but very repetitive. The combat in this game is sensational, but because it's repetitive and extremely linear, you end up getting sick of having to do the same things over and over again, which ends up being frustrating.

    • Marius would be a true Damocles if he had a sequel. In seriousness, I think a sequel would be great. In another time of the Roman Empire, plenty of corrupt Emperors and Generals in the history of Rome. Also plenty of possible protagonists.

  • One of the few games I literally finished in one go. It took me 26 hours of sitting in front of my PC and finished the whole story. I skipped class just to finish it XD Great to see people still know this game

  • Imagine a Rome 3 TW with this graphic...but what a super- monster of computer or console you have to have to handle this. Imagine a battle with 4 armies (yours + reinforcements, against 2 enemy armies), with 12-14k models looking like this. In original version, the models had around 150k polygons, and the second edition, after optimisation, "just" 85k (but with improved textures). The models in Rome2 TW, as far i understood, typically have 8 to 12 thousand polygons per modell.

  • I've replayed this 10 times bout all the xtras! The only thing pisses me off are the few glitches were he beats the shield to much and can't stop but once you figure out all the executions its awesome fighting like 10 dudes and sometimes the javelin threw sticks

  • A 2013 game have really superb graphics, super impressive, consider gta 5 was also release in same year, this game is equivalent of god of war 3 and even better graphics than modern games, graphics is never issue for me, its feeling that gamer want, and modern games lack of it Old games are gem, if some kids from 2090 comes and play they must believe its xbox 2013 game, old games had some really good optimised programming skill
