  • Another nice score! 👍🏻 Hey, if you ever have traction issues plowing snow with your Foreman, I would highly recommend getting tire chains. I purchased some for my Grizzly 700, and it is complete night & day difference, traction with them is quite impressive! I went with the diamond style v-bar chains, but the ladder style ones are cheaper, and work just as well on tires without huge lugs for the cross chains to fall between.

  • If the guy you bought the orange ES from had a paved driveway, the feet on that plow are likely adjusted for that instead of your gravel top driveway. A couple of suggestions, to take some of the load off your winch, use a small pulley bolted to the plow and wrap the winch line around it and back to an anchor or strap on the front of the ATV. Don't strap around the rack like most people do, or you'll end up bending it. But that will help with wet, heavy snow that likes to stick to the blade when you get heavier snowfalls. You might find that reversing the cutting edge on the plow blade may help it dig lower into the snow, most of them are reversible. The cutting edge is the small 2" bar at the bottom of the blade, bolted on with 5-6 carriage bolts. Lastly, you'll find plowing a gravel driveway will leave lots of gravel on the grass in the spring. Most people use a rake or one of those gas-powered 2-stroke spinning brush heads to push the gravel back into your driveway. I know it sounds crazy, but the best way to clean the rocks is with a shop-vac. I've been doing it this way for the last 8 years and the same $80 stainless steel shop-vac. It takes me roughly 3-4 hours to vacuum the rocks off my lawn versus using a normal rake, and its way easier on your back. My driveway is a bit shorter than yours, but the area in front of my garage is roughly the same. Just make sure the shop-vac you use has a 2" hose and not 1-1/4", the smaller hose will constantly clog up with mud, leaves and rocks, the larger hose will not.

    • I’ve been plowing for 35yrs on a couple different machines & I like my 01 Honda Rubicon the best. I wasn’t scraping very good & removed those skid shoes on my Cycle Country plow. Made a huge difference but not good when the blade falls into an expansion joint on a cement driveway breaking cement off or stopping the machine but I mostly keep the plow on an angle & never had issues especially on sidewalks. As for the cutting blade goes it’s cheaper to buy a pice of strap & drill your own holes. Last one I bought was for $13 out the door for 4’ that’s 5” wide. I put my holes close to one edge & works good for back dragging. I noticed the plow on the Rancher is tilted back some using the top pivot holes & I use the bottom holes on my plow to keep the blade more upright, also I can pick up the plow higher going over curbs. I also recommend using a pulley on the plow & hooking the cable up on the rack. One other thing is use a winch cable rubber bump stop. I’ve seen so many broken cables & bent push tubes. I stopped using a winch for that reason before I knew about the bump stop. I use a manual lift I built & it’s faster to use plus I can feel the ground under it. It’s great when I go over grass to make paths to the sheds. My neighbor who bought my Dad’s old quad liked my lift system that he built one like mine. I have a handle mounted on the front rack with a cable that goes to plow on a pulley & hooks on rack but if I was doing a gravel driveway like that I would prefer using a winch to keep it up from digging up the gravel. I thought I was the only one to vacuum the gravel off the lawn & the neighbors would tease me about it. I tell them I vacuum the lawn & mow the carpet. That was a lot of work & I started using a push broom when the lawn is still matted shortly after the snow is all melted to push in on the street so the steet sweeper can pick it up if he comes. Just last year I got a leaf blower & that’s my preferred way to get the gavel off the lawn & clean the curb. If I had a driveway as big as his I would be using a tractor but it’s not as fun. I live in a subdivision & plow 12 driveways & sidewalks. There’s a lot of times I wished I had a tractor instead. If I end up with another quad I would put a blower on it.

  • With the orange Honda and plow where the push tubes meet the plow is a bolt on either side each bolt has a square block that can be turned to the setting of choice. Turn it too the setting allowing to lay the top of blade back towards the bike. This will make the load you are pushing, push the blade down forcing it to cut.

  • I bought a regular thick tractor blade at a metal supplier. Took my old blade and had them punch the holes where it needed to be near the top. Much bigger and thicker than ATV blade. Mounted with the flat end down so I wouldn’t dig into the dirt and it works great and on top of the plow. I took an old car tire and cut the center out then cut to size and mounted it on top to keep the snow from going up over it. Both adds weight very good thing. Just FYI Your plow look like it’s missing or needs adjusting behind the blade there are metal tabs that keep the blade straighter up and down.

  • Very cool purchase, Joe. I hope this is a keeper. Just a tip here, my neighbor put small tractor weights on top of his plow on his 6x6 Polaris, like the ones you see on garden tractors to keep his plow firmly on the ground. We must have gotten the same storm here in Pennsylvania. Wet pack snow.

  • Nice work ! I think you got a great deal on that with the plow and winch and everything for $1,400 . Those little metal tabs on the bottom of the plow are called “ shoes “ and yes you can adjust them to a desired depth so your plow ‘ floats ‘ at whatever height you want to set it at . They may be worn out and need replacement I don’t know , but that’s an easy fix. As far as the smoking engine goes, WTH just drive it around the yard prior to your next bbq and it will fog the mosquitoes lol 😂 Multi purpose ATV !Hey it’s a Honda ! That thing will run forever !

  • Nice machine and great deal. I kinda like the orange color. I would use a pulley and an axle strap to ease the stress on the winch while plowing. You also want to adjust the height of the plow shoes for your gravel driveway. The pvc pipe hack on the wear blade works well to with gravel driveways. I did videos for both on my channel. Enjoy the new wheels 👍

  • I have cycle country plows and have used them for years (the were bought out to I think KFI several years ago). The push tubes are bent, which is probably why the plow is not sitting correctly on the ground. It's pretty common to happen with that plow setup, as people often winch up too much, and push too hard on the plow when trying to stack or just plain ramming a snow bank/pile too much. The plow blade flexes and trips but all that force is put on the push tubes. The tubes are nothing special, and IMO not heavy enough for the use. The push tubes should be straight when looking at them from the side, can see earlier in the video that they are bent up slightly; it changes the angle of the blade and causes it slide too much on the skids; only real fix is to bend the tubes back straight and reinforce them. Otherwise they blade will always tend to "skate" over hardpack spots rather than cut into them. I have a couple sets of the hand level for them; and honestly, it's actually easier to adjust the plow and get more percise plowing without dragging into the dirt/grass with that hand lever over the winch. Just obviously the winch is more convient/less work.

  • Paid 350$ for my 04 rancher 350 they have alot of issues with the electric shift ive seen a recent story about them with 40,000 miles on em still ran great but the rest of it was falling apart around it

    • The electric. shift wasalways problematic on the Hondas...thats why as a Honda service tech I bougjt a manual shift

  • Great video Joe and I have some advice! A neighbor and I both have this exact orange 2001 Rancher and we both have older plows. He has the Cycle Country like yours and I have a WARN brand. Last winter we traded for a few days so I could clean his carb. He could not believe how much better mine plowed. It digs through the snow. It wasn't the machine, they are identical. The only difference is the weight of the plows. Mine is much better built/reinforced and therefore much heavier. I am currently welding reinforcements on his Cycle Country to make it like my WARN just to get the extra weight. Throw a sandbag or something on yours and see how much better it gets.

    • I bought the Koplin High Rise system for my old Cycle Country blade & added it to my 1996 Honda TRX300 4x4. I am really impressed with this system. It's well built and you can really pull the blade up for trailer loading or going over rough terrain. 5:30 into the clip shows the advantage of this feature - kzhead.info/sun/g5uad85ljKh6p3k/bejne.html After owning this high rise system, I wouldn't consider anything else.

  • If you are keeping it I’d recommend a nylon winch line. No fish hooks. No blood. No problem. It also provides a nice spring action when your twitching logs out and whatnot.

  • I added a piece of conveyor belt rubber to my blade. It keeps the blade from digging up the grass and scrapping up concrete. I have had it on 3 years now in Michigan , the rubber has only worn down 1/8 “ so far. The rubber is 4 “ x 1 “ x 50” it should last me 20 years at this rate.

  • Yes it smokes because it needed an oil change LONG AGO, but changing it now won't stop it from smoking. Rebuild is in order.

  • What state do u live in Joe?I'm in Southern illinois and was just wondering if that snow was headed our way.in my younger years I had a King Quad that had a manual lift on the plow and that quad did amazingly well plowing snow, but whenever the freezing rain came before snow I had a set of chains I would put on the rear tires.Keep up the good work,I enjoy the vids.

  • I plow commercially and have used a 500 and now a 1000 Polaris sportsman to plow. Let me tell you, the 1000 can easily push double the weight in snow than the 500 so in those big snow storms I love having the bigger 1000 over the 500

    @AngelTorres-iy1bi@AngelTorres-iy1bi Жыл бұрын
    • Mainly because the 1000 weighs more it just keeps it’s momentum longer whereas the 500 would get stopped by snow a lot

  • Pretty good price, what a deal. I only gad a Honda 300lt, with blow and winch no 4x4, and after 3 inches I was spinning had to always get a running start to plow and keep going, then trying to stop, I'd slide, because I need speed. with 4x4, it looks like make a big difference. definitely be harder after 6 inches. I almost wanted a enclosure on mine, because I had to go out why it was still snowing to keep up with the snow fall. I got tired of getting soaked, did a helmet for a bit. I was doing the neighbors drive ways aswell

  • Remember it is a dry sump. You are supposed to start and idle a few minutes. Let it sit for a minute and then check the dipstick! Do not check level cold

  • I'd invest in some redline to add in the oil.,or fuel for that four wheeler to clean out the resonator baffle filter screen inside of the muffler. Before it ends up getting clogged up. Cause it will end up burning up the oil rings inside of that engine if you don't clear out that baffle screen soon.
