Hmm. Re the power quality checks. You switch the main isolator off, so the effect of any of that load on power quality is removed, surely? Also, if there is no current flowing (as the isolator is open) how can you determine the phase angle between voltage and current to work out power factor? Granted, harmonic analysis tends to only require voltage phasors but, again, if you've just disconnected a chunk of the load by opening the isolator that potentially gives a distorted (forgive the pun) view of the total harmonic distortion, especially if you've disconnected a lot of non-linear loads. Finally, the display on the screen shows cos phi as 1.00 capacitive but the 'pf' as 0.74 - how does that work?
It looked like he had the current clamp around the earth conductor whilst he was measuring, wonder if there is a circulating current confusing the meter? Totally agree that the harmonic measurement should be made with the board loaded. Also did the leakage test a bit later with the isolator off. Guess it is just a sales demo video.
@@three-phase562 glad I'm not the only one scratching my head over this.
Exactly, we seem to have missed a step simply to illustrate safe isolation
Wow, well spotted @protectiongeek Was hoping to get away with this one but I should have known better that nothings gets passed our sharp eyed viewers! 😅 You are right we had the isolator, off, rather annoyingly the site was quite tight on its H & S and wouldn’t allow us to go into the board live. However, after much haranguing and with the H & S officer we were able to get some shots of the power quality analysis albeit a tad rushed! Ref the PF this will be down to me holding the probe and not making a great connection on the terminals. We had a bit of pressure from the site brass, 😂 there was certainly not enough on that board to cause a PF like that 😊. Great though that we are showing the safe isolation and that company’s still have robust procedures in place Thanks again for commenting 💪😊
@@joehammond6119 thanks for such a candid response Joe. Much appreciated. Sometimes it’s easy to forget when watching vids that other less obvious factors may be influencing production behind the scenes. Thanks for another great vid!
Thank you for sharing your valuable work experience, I searched for UK electricity installation videos on KZhead, I have seen many videos without traditional translation, your videos have Chinese translation, I am very grateful to the host🙂👍👍🙏🙏

What benefit do you have using the power analyser with load turned off, I guess you put the cover back on and powered back up for that? And your just wanting to show that your locking off before taking covers off?
I’m a Megger MFT 1721 True RMS fan boy, as David Savoury has a TIS, well they must be good 👍
What IP rating is the unit. We do alot of outside testing. Sometimes in rubbish weather.
IP47 however there’s a few videos on KZhead one recently where the tester was used outside doing earth electrode testing in the bouncing down rain, we hope this answers your question 👍

How is it detecting leakage when the isolator is off? 5:26
Same way it’s measuring reactive power, true power and power factor with the isolator off 😂think some of the video is incorrect
Test the RCD at the RCD saves going up and down.
Certain types of RCDs won't trip at the board
@@dangallagher2306thats interesting, do you know which types won't trip at the board

@dangallagher2306 so I heard but never come across it
At times, this guy reminds me of Keith Moon.
That’s the oddest one of had 😂😂. I do have a drum set, I’ll throw it at Gary and Gordon next time I see them!😅
It’s certainly the most unusual looking MFT
I think this intrument is similar to a lot of Italian "HT Instruments" series of multifuncion testers. The 1M $ question is: Who is the original manufacturer of them? Personally, I prefer Metrel instruments
Seen these on Mark Allinsons channel. He seems to rate them. This video has put me off as the PF values are way off. Also how do you get PQ with the main switch off? Just a rushed sales pitch.
I dropped it and broke the screen. Can’t find anywhere to replace it. Definitely far too delicate.
similar to the old megger cm500
It looks like Italian Macrotest G3
That is what it is from ht italia. They are not renowned for their reliability.
Is it worth the hype? You are paid to say it is. That's what a paid promotion is on KZhead.
That double strap/leash/harness abomination is shows what is the main problem of these type/format of testers.
Touch screen, yuck
If we showed you our repair lab full of MFTs with faulty switches you’d change your mind £380 plus vat for a switch or £100 for a screen 👍
