  • Thank you for another good 'un. When in spatial mode, what does the X600 kick out of the upward speaker is it L+R mono, or is it L-R (Hafler). Does it put one of the speakers out of phase like the ghettoblasters of the late 70's and early 80's done with the "Wide" switch position. Maybe they apply some DSP processing like the Yamaha AV amps do like in the various 'concert hall, stadium' etc settings which create a short lived, novelty effect. Despite these latest X600 ravings, I am not ready to trade in my Stormbox Blast or Motion Boom Plus yet.😂

    @nebojsanestorovic1416@nebojsanestorovic141610 ай бұрын
    • Im really not sure because the upmixing complicates it and much of it i assume is real time dynamic. I guess i could test each channel seperatly if i had time. Part of the width is simply the waveguides and upwards firing driver. They talk about basing the sound on a big concert hall which does make me think its just stereo upmixing as in the 80s surround sound boom days with a tad of phase shifting and psychoacoustic tricks. The modern up mixers are leaps and bounds better at guessing what parts of the track are the spatial elements

    • Speaking as an old git, there was a time when you would never buy a piece of audio equipment without listening and comparing first, nowadays we do not have that choice as there are no more retailers left with demonstration facilities, so we get caught up in factional wars as to what is best which gets a bit emotive at times. If I could ever give any advice it would be " Never buy a mattress until you tried it and never buy a piece of audio equipment until you have personaly heard it with your own ears"

      @nebojsanestorovic1416@nebojsanestorovic141610 ай бұрын

  • 9:12 PLOP! Haha thanks for clarifying on the old tech that's integrated into the X600. I'm definitely not techy, but i loved the sound for vocals on it even if it can be a little tiring after a while. I still have my Tribit Blast as well, and was super impressed but THIS one song: kzhead.info/sun/acune6Z8o3yrp3k/bejne.html sounded muddy on it to me compared to other speakers, obviously its a distorted song by nature but that's where I kind of decided I didn't prefer it.

    @DannyPops@DannyPops10 ай бұрын
    • yo! 👍 did you have the blast in xbass mode? yeah of course vocals are not hitting that bass and make a lot of use of the upward firing driver and its the bass thats the main issue for me especially as mine distorts. i do use custom on my blast and it find it very eq'able. im not trashing the x600 though, i really dont want to sound like that, just righting some wrongs that i think are doing the rounds, especially about it sounding neutral and having full bass. but then i have firmware 4.2.1 and nobody else seems to 🤷‍♂️

  • I agree with everything you said. I have seen other reviews of the x600 and you're right they say it's the best speaker out there.. but they don't test it. They just unpackage it and say it sounds great. And then they tell you to go buy it. Well I think a third grader can do that. Maybe people can give them feedback and tell them that the review was really not helpful. What you do with the speaker comparisons and then the charts is perfect. • I like the comparison and is about time we had this. I have a different angle though. It's bass driven vs detail driven. The music here is bass driven and preferable to bigger speakers, but if you were playing Miles Davis, funk fusion, even pop I'm sure the result will be different. Also with x600 tuning you can get a warmer sound. The bass is nice here on the big brother speaker but it does drown out the detail or decrystalises the sound. Also the original sound profile is bass driven or stomping bass drum driven. If you going to sit back and listen to sparkling music with clarity, my money is on the x600 not teeny bop bass music.

    @JasonAhrendt@JasonAhrendt10 ай бұрын
    • As usual i respectfully disagree 😊 but you are certainly entitled to voice that opinion. But i have ask what is your evidence the x600 can do justice to any decent track since bass is absent bar a narrow mid bass peak which leads to overdriving the woofers imho. What you call detailed is simply boosted highs, on many audiophile tracks this will result in sibilance. Its all about opinions at the end of the day but a simple frequency response graph easily demonstrates this.

      @alanrossreviews@alanrossreviews10 ай бұрын
    • @@alanrossreviewsBoth these speakers sounded pretty bad to me in terms of detail actually. In audiophile tracks both these speakers are gonna fail hard lol..Infact I actually own the motion x600 and agree with you that the there is quite a bit of sibilance. But I still prefer its sound over tribit as the bass does drown out the mids a bit. In the end its your pick. One has boosted highs, and the other has boosted low end. They are all just V shaped fun sounding speakers, not professional monitors... The reason why its popular with reviewers is simply due to the more wide sounding airy nature of it due to spatial audio. I do however wish that the bass was better in the x600.

    • you can eq the blast easily, you cant do much with the x600 sadly. please define audiophile tracks? ive tried to demonstrate that the blast covers the full spectrum while the x600 cannot do bass at all. as i said in the video, there is a huge swell of people who claim to like a neutral sound when actually they like a bass light sound, they dont seem to have any real reference to how a track should sound. thats fine but to call the x600 neutral for simply being devoid of real bass is a shame. my eq that i used here is not v shaped at all, if anything the highs roll off which i did intentionally as i like a smooth sound. the reason why the x600 is popular with most reviewers is because they are sponsored by soundcore. and a lot of the others seem to have little references in audio.

      @alanrossreviews@alanrossreviews10 ай бұрын
    • @@alanrossreviews Let me clarify, I never said that either of these speakers are neutral sounding. They both just sound shit at factory settings. Yeah you can eq the tribit and its great and all. All I said is that motion x600 has a different flavour of sound compared to other speakers at this price range. And personally I got okayish results with eq on the motion x600. Also I doubt that you can get the spatial audio type of wide airy sound with the tribit without some sort of upward firing speaker.

      @awesomeyakuza211@awesomeyakuza21110 ай бұрын
    • @@awesomeyakuza211 not so much clarifying as taking a more polite route, good job on that front. Now you are simply expressing an opinion which is what audio is all about. This video was about addressing fallacies currently propagated by lies in paid reviews, as i said in the video its for you to then make a judgement on what works for you. In my opinion the x600 is a novelty speaker. Its selling point is the spatial audio. I personally can't listen to it for more than 10 minutes and mine has bad bass distortion. It is a very unnatural sound but one often mistaken for neutral which i think i demonstrated here. I am certainly not somebody who believes you should listen only to natural or flat speakers, i am again addressing some lies being spread on youtube. I did eq the x600 in my first video and explained why i didn't do so in this one. In my opinion the blast does not sound shit in default mode. Audio is and will always be subjective in my opinion. However some self declared audiophiles believe it's objective and either you like what they like or you are an idiot. This video demonstrated that those particular niche people do not know what they are talking about. If you don't regard the x600 as neutral than i am not talking about you. I am addressing your point as to why i didnt eq the fuck out of the x600. It was fundamental to the video to show it is not neutral in the mode they listen, spatial with bassup on. Weirdly there is a firmware coming to fix the bass that the paid reviewers were telling us was amazing 😁 i rest my case your honour 👍

  • Just my 10p worth... I'm not an audiophile but I think I have a reasonably OK 'ear' - play a few instruments, do a bit singing (neither professionally) and enjoy a wide range of music including classical, electronic, soul, rock, pop - and while I tend to agree with you, Alan, on your A/B (/C etc) tests about which speaker sounds the best I do think, purely based on this video, that on-axis at 60%, the X600 sounds a little better than the Tribit - I just prefer the more open sound of the X600 which makes the Tribit sound a bit muddy (even if that is actually bright versus natural on the graphs when comparing to the original track) but they both sound good. And yes naturally not all of us are going to agree, and maybe I'm in the minority, because there are many variables such as what each of us is using to listen to this video with (in my case Philips SHP9500 open-back headphones) and our subjective preferences/tastes. If I were listening on different headphones or a hi-fi I might have a different opinion. I didn't hear much difference in bass but I think my headphones don't strongly present low bass (which suits me as I don't like low bass prominent phones though I do like strong, punchy, defined low bass on hi-fi speakers)... and now I'm rambling even more than you, oops! The X600 off-axis sounds awful (again, purely based on this video, me as an individual wearing these particular headphones, but I reckon everyone will agree to how bad off-axis is.) I do appreciate the level and detail of testing you go into (on all reviews) and the comparison to the original track here. I actually think the X600 sounds closer to the original track than the Tribit (and my 'disclaimer' again: this test only, my ears/brain, my open-back headphones, my PC etc. so with different kit I may have a different opinion.) Maybe the thing for us (consumers) to do is always try to listen to the speakers in the flesh with music we are familiar with in a surrounding akin to how we'll most use the speaker, but that's easier said than done. My only bluetooth speaker is the Motion+ and I think it sounds great for its size and how I use it - indoors only, 30% to maybe 70% volume. I am quite curious to get an X600 to see how it compares to the Motion+ in the flesh. I suspect I will find it sounds fine but absolutely not worth the price. For outdoors or parties my focus is a mix of volume and bass (ideally with low distortion), practicailty and value for money i.e. bang for buck, so I'd never buy an X600 for outdoors or parties.

However, reviewers that lack knowledge or that just lie for the money market this speaker like its the best thing to exist and.I like how they have been caught red-handed😂 I believe no one did a TWS review yet so hopefully they fall through with that. • Are you familiar with the Polaroid speakers? I picked up one recently on eBay. The largest of the line which is the P4. It was mad cheap so I said why not. Retail it goes for $290 😳. I was able to cop $60 ☺️. I have to confess that the main reason I wanted this speaker is for nostalgia. Anyway, for the size and cost I was expecting the P4 to have fairly decent bass. At least as good as the Motion Plus. Sadly, it doesn’t. It’s completely mids focused with a smidge of upper bass. I was slightly taken aback when you consider Polaroid advertises the P4 as a party speaker. Anyway, it looks like I will be gifting this speaker (to a less discerning listener of course 😂) because nostalgia isn’t a good enough reason to keep it.
