for all the Toronto Maples Leaf fans that want to see Mitch Marner go, unless he waives his NMC, he's staying a Leaf, which is something that alot of you guys probably don't want to hear, but in reality it's up to him if he will stay or go!

    • If the Leafs are going to be the Oilers of the East, they need to take notes and demolish management from top down or bottom up, either way, one way or another, regardless, Toronto WILL ALWAYS be a losing team in the playoffs. Can't keep old management and get 'new' players and expect things to work the way the old guard wants, I hate to say but that is the truth. Toronto MUST be all in on this or keep losing hardcore till kingdom come.

  • Enough hate on Marner. The guy has 50 points in 57 playoff games. Matthews, meanwhile, has done *nothing* in the playoffs. Talk about a guy who doesn't step up and waits around for something to happen...that's Matthews!! Crosses the blueline, dishes off to Marner or Nylander or whoever to actually make a play, then figure skates around the O-zone trying to get open for one of his teammates to feed him the puck with a perfect seam pass for a high-chance one-timer. He *never* beats a defender one-on-one carrying the puck!! NEVER! Never even tries! And when those open cross-ice seam passes are no longer there come playoff time...POOF! He disappears like the proverbial rabbit in the hat. But go ahead, trade Marner. But Leafs Nation's 'MVP' never sniffs 50 goals again. And unless he changes *his* game, he'll still fall flat in the playoffs.

Matthews is happy, and the fans are happy when the Leafs give him the "C," something Leaf Nation has wanted for some time. Marner is an undeniable talent, puts up some great numbers during the regular season but he's a no show come playoff time and his attitude sucks. I think Nylander is an underrated playmaker, and he's got a great shot. If the Leafs can get away from Marner, Nylander showed this season that he can put up the numbers if given the chance to and he's been our best playoff performer. More than that we need a coach that can motivate his players and not shelter them from criticism or hold them accountable for their play, instead of babysitting them.

However they are so hardcore they will NEVER abandon the leafs for some reason. IT gives the players no reason to be cup hungry when they know their fan base will always sell out their HUGELY overpriced tickets. Fans need to stop showing up and supporting this year after year after year. They need to know their money is on the line, but that NEVER happens with leaf fans. His signature play is to cross the blueline with the puck, IMMEDIATELY dish it to one of his skilled wingers or D, then float around trying to get open for a perfect seam pass to one-time into a half-empty net. When do you *ever* see him beat a defender one-on-one with a move, or drive to the net with the puck?? And the other half of your statement goes equally for Matthews too: "He has skill (shooting) but he doesn't carry the team, doesn't drive play by himself, and frankly if you don't see it you haven't watched enough of him". So whenever the Blues are "out" I always pull for The Leafs to have postseason success, but it just does not happen. With the weight of the Nation, and of half of Canada's population, and the scrutiny of Canadian media, they just can't do it. I really and honestly feel for The Leaf's fans. I know it hurts.

  • 12 goals in 7 games from the leafs. The whole team shit the bed and everyone keeps droning on about Marner. Nobody did anything good on that entire team, Nobody! I said it before and I'll say it again. The fans have a bipolar psychosis when it comes to this team. The Fans and Media put so much pressure on this team the players have nightmares about losing. Things people fear the most usually happen because subconciously, they are doing things to make them happen or their fear paralyzes them from preventing it from happening.

  • Lol Marner comes out of the bench , Pasta realises it and make the play they ve been making for years , so it s not Marner to blame there , it s the coaching , the D guys who should be able to recognise that it s coming. I mean Marner is definitely not as good as he thinks , but blaming him solely ??? You guys are just blind , and funny to hear all those trade rumors about him , the guy as a non move clause in his contract. Matthews is a big problem for this team , i mean look at his playoffs ffs , oh and yeah sorry the poor princes was ill ???? 4 Panthers players played last year's playoffs with broken bones , these guys are warriors , and that s the reason why the leafs will never get a deep run with this team. How stupid do you have to be to put 50 % of your salary cap on 4 players and still expect to build a competitive team around them ???? And even if they somehow trade Marner , who will pay him 11 millions knowing he s not gonna produce much , i mean he s a 30 goals guy , you can get that for much cheaper from a guy like Vatrano who made 37 as a freakin Ducks this year and this kind of guy will be playoffs effective for not even half the price ............

    • That’s right…. And they make a lot of money on Ticket sales, concessions & Jerseys. They’re more concerned with putting out a flashy high scoring regular season team because it sells & it will ALWAYS get the fans excited. The regular season has been meaningless for awhile now. Look at the Bruins last year. Playoff hockey is a different game. It’s played much tighter, less open ice, more physical, less room to maneuver. Management needs to ID players who have the skills to play that game. You won’t have a team full of goal scorers but you might have a chance at a cup.

Edmonton and Benoit just proved they are the new number one and two on the defense, Woll is the next number one in goal. I am and will continue to be a Leaf fan. I’ve been one my entire life and remember our last cup parade. Boston has been the same team since 1964. Sure the players are different but the mindset is still the same. Work every shift like it’s your last and play every game like it’s your first, in other words let your last shift be the best one you ever played and be as enthusiastic in every game as you were in your first game. Boston has always had a very “workman like “ attitude over the years. They have always had one or two “star” players and a supporting crew of grinders. Works well. We could learn from it.
