1st time reaction here!! And as crazy as it sounds, I never heard the pop version of Doja Cat's "Say So" prior to watching this video either (I know! But I seriously do not listen to pop!) I'm a metal vocalist and voice coach and I was so curious to see what a pop star would do to create a heavier version of their song. It was great to see Doja Cat do this on the MTV EMAs and I was really pleasantly surprised by this one! Give it a chance - seriously!

    • Loved this; I love Doja and also metal (neoclassical, dare I mention numetal), prog rock, alt rock, hardcore etc but had no idea she even did this. She's extremely quirky,, allher live performances are theatrical as heck, she's an amazing dancer and on her lives she does the most random shit, impromptu performances, fucks around with her fans. She was always a more alternative girl for a rapper. Now please react to this metal cover of WAP, it is better than I could have ever imagined. kzhead.info/sun/nqyEgadlomWei40/bejne.html

    • Hi. I loved your video. My new guilty pleasure has recently been people reacting to this killer moment Doja and this band had. My favorite part being 2:07. Anyway. I know the whole band and their Instagram tags. Please let me know if you want me to send them to you on Instagram. But aside from the girl, I don’t think the 3 guys do anything metal.

The rap scene has been featuring more guitars and rock/metal elements over the last half of the decade. And melodic metal bands with clean vocals have been expanding their fan bases pretty rapidly over the last few years. Give it a year or so and the market will be primed for a pop-y, accessible rock or metal band to really break through.

  • I just need more! First Miley Cyrus releasing a rock album and now Doja Cat performing this version. I can see a new wave of rock in the mainstream music coming, like early 2000s when Evanescence and others artists made it to the very top. BTW, I love just discovering you here Mary getting the recognition you deserve! Your face was very familiar during the whole video and then I realized you where part ot the MFVF family girls. Love from Chile

  • I loved the shit out of this. My genres vary like crazy I could be slamming some Beneath the Massacre and The Black Dahlia Murder and jump right into some Billie Eilish or Ariana Grande. I also sing opera and musical theatre. So watching people switch their vocal styles is always fun and enjoyable to do.

  • It’s so cool seeing Doja perform in this genre being both a fan of her and also metal. You can tell she has an interest in rock/metal especially in her recent performances she has put guitarists having guitar breaks with amazing riffs during her shows, so I would love to see do some pop-rap/metal in the future!

This was so refreshing and I was so happy to hear it. I’m really hoping she does more like this in the future. I would love to see the darker side of Doja Cat as I slowly finally let my darker side back out. Stay rocking friends! 🤘🏽🤘🏽

  • I always have a chuckle when people find out rappers are into and enjoy doing rock and metal songs. But i applaud when artist do things like this to show not only their interest in things outside their supposed bubble they perform in, but how their skills and vocals can be used in other genres. ( example: i know people that flipped their tables when they saw Denzel Curry do Bulls on Parade and even Chop Suey and found out afterwards that he was a rapper.) I suggest looking at the BoP if you havent. Awesome review!

  • I've been watching Doja Cat for a while now. Her music videos and voice are getting noticeably better as each song/video is released. I think she writes her own songs which I find very witty and fun. I'm impressed with her ability to reinvent her self through her music and videos and grow. Some artists have amazing voices but their music and videos are so predictable. They never step outside their box. Can't wait to see what she does in the future!
