This question is for both of you guys. Can you tell me how you add audio effects in your videos? Is there any audio package/website where i can download them?
Epidemic sound is what I use for all my SFX! Link is in the video description 👍🏻
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks bro. 🙏
@@shubhamvyas9459 Yeah, same deal here. Epidemic is the GOAT. But also I spend way too much time finding niche video game SFX 💀
I prefer to render using no lights, then let the viewer use their imagination. Also renders really fast.
Ooh nice, yeah! I like recording my videos without turning on my mic and camera. Makes for a real clean look in the final tutorial!
😂😂

That’s my entire work flow, developed over many years of experience (for “experience” read “sloth”).

DUDE Blender 3.2 was released almost a year ago and I somehow I never got told that we finally have Light groups! This is a gamechanger for everybody with a slow PC who cant just rerender a scene just to make small adjustments. Thank you very much!
Wow! 10 mns is worth my whole month study. Thanks, brother! God always bless you!
You are very welcome, glad you like it!
Great as always!
My new favorite lighting video! Thank you and thumbs up 👍
Wow, thanks. Appreciate that!
Awesome video! So many tips in just 10 mins. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sina, appreciate it!
Another Super Excellent Tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to create it.
You’re most welcome!
well done covering these, Portal was another Light which Blender Guru has a video or two uses, and maybe CG cookie, blender is so versatile. You also have laser if you utilise the free Luxcore Renderer. As a photographer too it's good to learn photo lighting techniques we use in the real world as you correctly mention, good work and hope you have an awesome time in Japan.
Thanks! Yeah the options or infinite basically. These are just things that ship with Blender. But if you start introducing addons the possibilities grow exponentially!
The best option for lighting is a softbox, which I learned about in this video. Thank you so much! I will save this tutorial to my playlist.
Awesome, glad I could help 🙌
Thank you for sharing such valuable tips 😍
you're most welcome!
Absolutely killing it!!
Yooo thanks dude! 🙌🏻
thanks man this thing worked thanks a lot man love lots keepsafe!!!
Awesome summary - thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Aahh yess, right when I completed my modelling course and starting the lighting one!!!🍷
Timing! 💪
This is always good info to go over again. I use Eevee for my animations. I fake global Illumination by adding lights, for example an area light on the ground pointing straight up imitates light bouncing off the ground. You actually get more control that way, artistic license at the cost of mathematical accuracy. It works for animation.
Nice! Thanks for sharing your tip 🙏🏻
WOW. This video has everything I needed to perfect my lighting set up. Specially "over exposed" images since there's no tutorial regarding how to properly overexpose 3D renders to achieve realism. Keep it up man.
Great to hear! Thank you!
No kidding, right? It's too late tonight but I can't wait to try this.
Fun video! Love lighting, so satisfying
Thanks! Yeah lighting is really satisfying for sure!

@@KaizenTutorials thanks dude,i appreciate that :)
You forgot to discuss custom emission lighting methods for specific situations well the standard lights are not the best. Also how to light specific surface to ensure the best render of subsurface, cavity, reflections, volumetrics and ambient occlusions. This I guess was more of a general overview of lighting in comparison to traditional lighting used for photography and filmmaking. Ok thanks for the link to the old build on blender I forgot about the GI Eveeve build. I downloaded it ages ago before and totally forgot about it.
Good ones! To be fair I forgot a TON of things, or moreso I didn't forget, but I could've made this video 50 minutes long with lighting tips and tricks haha.
Amazing bro. Your way of teaching things is excellent. I was following blenderguru and arijan but their method of teaching is not good. I got all the points from your video by going through once. Thank you and keep sharing knowledgeable videos
Awesome to hear. Glad I could help 🙌🏻
Japan has mobile 5G hubspots that you can throw. and forget in your bag and connect your phone to. They’re pretty cheap and work well!

kaizen - "to bring change for the good"
I hope to, absolutely!
Nice video as usual. Just one question, do you know if the Blender foundation will enable passes by lightgroup ? Ligthgroup are great, but for VFX, lightgroup + passes will be better. Actually I make a different scene inside Blender to output AOVs by lights but if 4 lights, 4 rendering process, 4x time to render.
Thank you! I'm not sure if I am the right person to answer this as I don't do a whole lot of compositing etc in Blender. But afaik you can have renderpasses, render layers and light groups all as separate layers. If you then use an addon like Super Image Denoiser and combine all these into proper exportable EXR layers you can just render the entire thing out in separated EXR layers, while still maintaining control over each layer in regards to your renderpasses (e.g. mist etc), separated render layers (with cryptomattes) and light groups. But I might be overshooting Blender's bounds here haha!
@@KaizenTutorials In production I use Renderman, Arnold render, Guerilla Render and it's "easier" for passes and LPE. For my personnal or commercial personnal projects I prefer Cycles because it's faster to produce image using GPU and iterate and if needed, cpu produce the same render. And it's easier to send it to an online renderfam and no converted data textures everywhere lol. The only missing thing right now, for me of courses, it's to have lightgroup that output also diffuse, color and co in one render specific to lightgroup. I use multilayered EXR in Davinci Resolve (Fusion page) And send back my 3D part to denoise after compositing (to avoid problem with sampling when using substractive compositing to extract and modifying data) in Blender to do like, I think Super Image Denoiser (one pass with ODIN and after one pass in command line for Optix temporal denoiser). The denoiser in Davinci Resolve is good but not really for 3D. I need to automate my process with a script for the denoise part but have good results.
Cool, you use a vast pipeline of software to do it! I think it just needs to be whatever works best for you!
Thank you for this video! What laptops do you prefer for using blender? Thank you!!
In all honesty I 100% prefer Desktops for Blender and work in general. But a laptop in any case would need a decent beefy GPU and CPU to function well. Any laptop with an RTX 30 series card and a decent Intel or Ryzen CPU will do :-). Also try and get as much RAM as possible!
Will Eevee Next include IES lights?
Not sure if it ever will. But with EEVEE Next there will be a lot of changes to make EEVEE more realistic. Think in terms of making it more like Unreal in a sense and mimicing Cycles more. So it might just include IES and other lighting features!
Gobos, never heard this term before... Odd. Thank you for putting a name to a technique I knew about but never had a name for...also the add-on information.
My pleasure!
@@KaizenTutorials No, Sir, Thank you.😉
Blender "Light Linking" is available in Branch build
Yeah I heard! An amazing feature for Blender to finally get! :-D

@@KaizenTutorials just saying what i am seeing hehe! Keep making amazing stuff.
I am a photographer and love lighting :)
Awesome! Lighting is amazing to get better results. For real life settings and for 3D alike!
Wow! Please! Make a quick tutorial with this "Monkey Light" on the video preview. Greetings from Ukraine❤️
Maybe someday I will, thanks! Greetings from the Netherlands!
@@KaizenTutorials :))) Thank you) That's an amazing "contrast fashion light".
I would be 300 times better at my blender work, if I could just figure out the materials conundrum. Even with texture maps provided by professionals, I rarely get results that I find believable.
Honestly, lighting and displacement are the 2 main things that make a difference for your materials. Get good lighting and add the RIGHT amount of displacement and your scenes will look great!
"THE MARTIAN" book has mirror UV at 0:11. )))
Hahaha lol how did you even notice that
great stuff but the translucent bsdf material still appears solid in cycles for me. what am i missing?
That's weird.. did you plug it into the right socket? Also the plane needs to be close to the light source. You can also mix it with a mix shader and a transparent BSDF. Then change the factor to get the result you want!
don t be afraid to overexpose : true
Yeah, adding light is waaaay harder in post than removing light. As long as you’re not clipping a LOT ofcourse!
quick question for the box/cube in your area light demo. the top of the cube feels it's glowing/blooming in the render. how did you achieve that?
I turned on Bloom and use enough power for the light. Nothing else really, just basic settings no additional complex stuff.
Maybe I mix things up here, but can't you get global illumination by using ambient occlusion?
I guess maybe you could sort of. But AO looks at concave and convex shapes and doesn't respect bounce lighting etc. In that regard GI is more or less a raytracing thing and can't be copied like that.
does the SSGI addon not work on the newest versions of blender?
It's not an addon! It's a standalone build of Blender. It's a 3.1 dedicated branch. So you'll have to open whatever project you have in that separate build.
@@KaizenTutorials ooooh, alright. ty!
I just bought your Gobo kit. How do you use it with EEVEE or is it Cycles only? Cheers!
It’s not my addon actually! But I believe it’s cycles onyl as it needs light nodes which aren’t available in EEVEE. But to be sure you can contact the creator on Blendermarket.
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks for the heads up. Great tutorial! Subscribed!
ty man enjoy my sub
I shall haha!
Why don't I have any nodes for the lights or why is it not possible to put them in nodes?
Because you’re probably using EEVEE and should be using cycles :-)
make tutorial modeling room school + lighting
Noted
@@KaizenTutorials thanks you
Hi. Can you make an upgrade cause in blender 4.0 use nodes for lights are disabled.
Afaik its still there, you just have to be using Cycles!
I like the soft box idea but blender light bounces tend to have problems with emissive surface lighting and the soft box setup seems to make just as much noise as an emissive surface. Any ideas for how to reduce the noice when using the soft box method?
Hmm yeah it’s a bit of an issue. You can probably get better results by upping the light paths. But it will increase your render time!
Thank you! Appreciate the reply @@KaizenTutorials
what is the music used a the start of the ies section?
uhm this is it; www.epidemicsound.com/track/aruqd6UkGF/

I wish I got onto the blender bandwagon a lot earlier, but instead I found C4D 😊.
C4D is great too, but yeah Blender definitely wins in regards of community, free learning material and overall being the GOAT 3D software ofcourse.
@@KaizenTutorials now, yes.
Can you mention movie's title of that bird in the intro please? Thank you
You can check it out on the artist's website here; www.agvart.com/
in the section about light color temperature do you have any idea why my point light has no "nodes" dropdown menu like yours does? it has a shadow dropdown instead with no toggle for using nodes
i figured it out, it has to be in cycles, the option isn't there in eevee
Well done!
Do you know if the GI for EEVEE addon works for 3.3 and up?? Can't seem to install the addon.
Uhm it's not an addon. It's a standalone build. So you can just download the latest version and run the Blender .exe inside of the folder and that should have the SSGI EEVEE build.
"And maybe most important..." - Proceeds to put crappy shadows behind the text saying "Lighting"
Well yeah shadows might be even more important actually. They’re kinda inherent to the whole lighting business though
bro make video on blender 3.5
I wanted to, specifically about Simulation Nodes. But they weren't included in the final build so I went for this one! But they're coming in 3.6 so you can DEFINITELY expect a video on that!
