  • As a diagnosed schizophrenic, I have to say what Eddie said about "if you hear your voice coming from somewhere, the first thing you need to do is go get checked to see if have schizophrenia"......is top notch advice Lol. I have hallucinated some scary ass sh*t that is the stuff you find in haunted or "scary" videos. That includes hearing my wife's voice coming somewhere other than where I can see her sitting and seeing/hearing my roommate at home when I'm talking on the phone with them bc they're actually at the store and a friend asking to come inside the house when they live halfway across the country. There was one time where I hallucinated someone walking around the house, banging on on the walls and windows and yelling at me to come outside, which I did, with a gun, and nobody was on the property. Sure, that could have been ghosts or demons or something, but I doubt it because ever since finding the right medicine, I have not had things like that happen again (except when needing my meds adjusted). But, you know, as a schizophrenic, there's always that paranoid thought in your head saying that this is just because the medicine has numbed you out and taken away your spiritual senses. That sounds absurd or funny to a lot of people, but it's not to those of us who personally deal with or who has a loved one who deals with schizophrenia. The paranoia and irrational beliefs, even when you know they're not real, are truly maddening. That's one reason why so many- even medicated- schizophrenics have such bad anxiety.

    • Not a schizophrenic but I do hallucinate often. I've only ever heard people such as friends or family talking shit about me. The first time my fiancé witnesses this I was hiding in the bathroom crying because I couldn't figure out why his family was all laughing about me. It really sucked and I was going through something really severe at the time. I was never diagnosed with schizophrenia, but MDD and and psychotic depression at another time. So it may not be schizophrenic but DEFINITELY tell a doctor. Being able to tell when I'm hallucinating and not has been a huge game changer for me.
