  • I'm Japanese, but this is the first time I've heard the word "japandi"! Scandinavian style has been popular in Japan for a long time. Perhaps it is because they are simple and easy to adopt each other. It's so fun to see my culture being mixed and re-imagined abroad!😊❤

  • 1:40 "Isn't a real word" ... sure it is; this is called a Portmanteau (a subset of Neologism) where a word is created from the fusion of two words. Similar to common words like Motel, Brunch, or "Floordrobe" for when a person stores his/her clothes on the floor. Even works in other languages, like the Japanese "Tsundoku" (tsunde-oku+dokusho) which is when you start to accumulate books in small piles for "someday" reading.

  • In my opinion too many cool greys for it feel hygge and too polished for to feel wabi sabi. Maybe you can get your daughter to paint a large piece above the couch to juxtapose against the grey couch, rug, poof and throw. Or any piece of large art /photography to tie to together as maybe it’s the void walls making me feel that way. Also that clear vase sitting against a white wall , I would have incorporated maybe some wabi sabi there with some nice textured sculptural pottery as it’s the only thing with height on the side table. One large indoor plant/tree will also bring some more texture and warmth and tie it together while still being minimal. However the main thing is that you enjoy and love the space, as this is only my opinion for finishing touches and everyone has a different style. Overall looks like a great place to live ! :)

    • @@paulinajakubowska1138 Yes I do realize that, and not just because I live with a husband and a toddler in a smaller apartment than this one in a video. That is why I am interested how he would implement toddler things. Especially if they decide to go with montessori approach. But I am guessing this is the subject of another video...

  • I wonder if you could put a bit of taut, durable, hanging fabric from the bottom kitchen cabinets to hide the busyness and dust of the legs and the bottom of the dishwasher? It could also add a bit of warmth and texture to the kitchen. Maybe attached with velcro so you could easily toss it in the washing machine when needed. Beautiful space and good job on a modern rental. That view really makes it a wonderful apartment!

  • I found my preferred style 20years ago in posh alpine chalets I visited while working ski seasons, I called it "modern rustic" which probably leans more toward the wabi sabi style, but with modern electrics and lighting to highlight the rustic features. However, I live in a 1970s mid terrace with absolutely zero rustic features 😅
