“Can you recommend a book for…?”
“What are you reading right now?”
“What are your favorite books?”
I get asked those types of questions a lot and, as an avid reader and all-around bibliophile, I’m always happy to oblige.
I also like to encourage people to read as much as possible because knowledge benefits you much like compound interest. The more you learn, the more you know; the more you know, the more you can do; the more you can do, the more opportunities you have to succeed.
On the flip side, I also believe there’s little hope for people who aren’t perpetual learners. Life is overwhelmingly complex and chaotic, and it slowly suffocates and devours the lazy and ignorant.
So, if you’re a bookworm on the lookout for good reads, or if you’d like to get into the habit of reading, this book club for you.
The idea here is simple: Every month, I’ll share a book that I’ve particularly liked, why I liked it, and several of my key takeaways from it.
I’ll also keep things short and sweet so you can quickly decide whether the book is likely to be up your alley or not.
If you’ve already read a book that I recommend or have a recommendation of your own to share, don’t be shy! Drop a comment down below and let me-and the rest of us “book clubbers”-know!
Okay, let’s get to the featured book: Thinking In Systems by Donella H. Meadows.

Hey Mike, thanks for sharing this video! loved it, I'm going to read the book and check out your podcast.
Video really starts at 9:30
Thank you ! very easy and entertaining listening values here !
Very interesting insights and nice examples. I often listen to summaries first to add the key takeaways to my personal knowledge system. But reading or listening to the original book in its entirety helps internalizing the content. Sometimes it also just seems interesting enough to hear every detail, as in this case.
Great summary. Thank you
The story about Malcolm X is mind-blowing
Excellent video, thank you
🙌
I don't know if you've made a review about "atomic habits". If not, you should, this is an awesome book that your audience could benefit a lot from.
Atomic Habits changed my life. Currently listening through Thinking in Systems, its kind of a slog right now, at least so far.
@@TheRevvB I felt similarly got really good in the last quarter of the book

Hey, it there anything for brain health and focus? Something with the caffeine jitters.
There are some ingredients that can help with that. Avena Sativa and bacopa monnieri are some that come to mind.
Came here to learn about systems thinking. 50% of the video was about something entirely different.
What was the other 50% about
@@roxynoz8245 Malcom x biography. Who GAF about the last century sausage fest when systems thinking is 10x deeper than that. Should've spoken about modelling complex systems.
@@kubricksghost6058 The is symptomatic of the fact that lib-leftists are in a ideological bubble. Ideology is honestly more important to them than STEM.
@@roxynoz8245 100. BTW i meant 50% of the video, not the book. The book is good!
@@kubricksghost6058 Okay, thank you! 🙏😊
Love your Podcast, but did not like the fact you used Nigeria as an example in a bad note (The Nigerian Bond) not all Nigerians are fraudulent...Don't get caught up in that system of thinking....Keep up the good work. I actually viewed your podcast to get appropriate review on the book as i am considering buying a book on system thinking and wish to get a good one for a start. With your review i'm definitely getting this..
I don't understand why people are so sensitive nowadays and extremely pc, he was making a joke about the Nigerian government, not its people.
It’s okay Marco, he just kept his point. Now you don’t get all sensitive.
I’m a systems designer. I’d like to talk.
Shoot me an email.
You should have been clearer about your takeaways! The main point does not seem clear, context is still understandable!
Watch the video again or go read the book.
Alexander Jones wow! Thank you so much. That’s an unusual advice, for the advice that I have given. You see, I was here to get a short insight on the book, would have bought the book if I really had time. But thanks 🙏🏻
It‘s hard to listen to this…
