World's Most Accurate Millennium Falcon Replica - 7 Years To Complete

Sean from the KZhead channel Square Models, spent 7 years to complete, the most screen accurate, filming quality miniature replica, of the Millennium Falcon, based on the miniature used in the filming of the original 1977 movie, Star Wars.
This Millennium Falcon replica, is a true size for size, part for part, EXACT “Filming Miniature Replica”. Meaning if you put the original 1977 Star Wars Millennium Falcon model, side by side with Sean's replica, it would be hard to tell them apart, he also said it’s the only known, ‘most screen accurate replica’ ever created.
Sean spent 4 years researching and buying kits & materials, he used over 2500 parts from 150 vintage model kits, over 2000 hours in construction time over 3 years, spent about $20,000 US dollars in costs and took 7 years total from start to finish, to make the Most Movie Accurate Star Wars Millennium Falcon filming quality miniature replica.
The models overall length is just under 6 feet long, and is approximately 4 feet in diameter for the main round body, and just under a foot in height, and weighs approximately 150 lbs or about 68 kgs. It has been mounted on an Engine stand which allows Sean to rotate the model 300 degrees, to give quick easy access to both top and bottom of the model so he can work on it.
Thanks for watching.

  • ★★★ *FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VIDEO / FACT UPDATES* ★★★ *1) Why did you use CGI footage at **15:56** and not original model footage* - I tried getting original footage, but all Star Wars films on streaming platforms are protected, I could not even screen capture the footage, it comes out blank. So I used what I could find on KZhead, since it's only a few seconds of footage to highlight a point in the narration, so it falls under fair use, but I could not get original model footage.

    • *_There is also another one that is very accurate. It was scratch built by a professional model maker in Norway in the late '90's maybe very early 2000's. It's over 6 feet long_*

    • On a drive somewhere in my home, I have digitized HD footage of the original trilogy that while not all of it is directly derived from them is completely screen accurate to the original theatrical releases of the original trilogy. This even means the first movie in the original trilogy not claiming to be "Episode IV: A New Hope" but rather the crawl suggests it's a stand-alone film. It's not hard to find these copies on the internet if you know how to shiver your timbers and know that the correct search term is "despecialized edition." Last I heard a 4K version was being worked on. It might be out by now. The copies I have are just standard HD because I don't have much of a use for 4K since the geometric increase in pixels isn't worth the almost imperceptible increase in visual fidelity from the screen viewing positions in my home.

    • Hey Sean, I am glad you liked it, I know this video won't be to everyones liking as it's fairly long winded, but I really wanted to go into all the detail of the build for true STAR WARS fans. I am happy with the end result, it was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it.

  • This is the *biggest and most complex video I have ever made.* I spent 7 x 12 hour days to make this video, 3 days script writing, 2 days narration editing, 2 days video editing. I would like to give a *HUGE THANKYOU!* to Sean Sides from Squaremodels, who went well above and beyond to get me all the extra footage, pictures, intro & outro for this video. Plus a *special thankyou* to Jared from Jared Owens KZhead Channel, for letting me use his 3D model tour footage in this, my first 3 way video collaboration.
