🙏THANKS FOR WATCHING!
“Can’t tie their shoelaces or dress themselves yet” - very funny
This guy described them so well. These yearlings are toddlers, curious and cute!
You're right, the Dapple Grays are precious!😍
They really were stunning.
Draft horse babies are my new favourite thing.
Used to show dogs. Only had to worry about them biting a judge not trampling them. I give these handlers a lot of credit for being able to manage with that much horsepower. Such beautiful babies. Would love to see how they look a year from now. I expect it's standard for showing but it's too bad their tails aren't left long. Thanks for sharing your trip.
What an adorable ring of baby Shire horses. This is certainly cuteness overload !!!
Fun fact. Also, to this day Shire horses are resident at Hampton Court Palace. In the Royal Court. One is named Ed and the other Harry. Were seen in Platinum Jubilee as the drum horses. Shire horses have the rank of Major above any other Royal animal. Ed, is now 5 year's old and HM the Queen will be renaming him later this year. He was one along with the other Shire - named Harry. They carry the solid silver drums. In the Platinum Jubilee and trouping of the colour.
Because Celt, the previous passed away. Not sure if Celt was pure Shire. But, I think Ed is a pure breed aka an ordinal Shire. I am probably wrong. However, Her Majesty EIIR is the patron of The Shire Society.
They were stellar in the parade....not like a few others!
Twelve hundred pound toddlers! Love it. Adorable, funny, dorky, beautiful, yes, indeed.
Nothing more adorable as the shire babies. #52 one of the grays stole my heart. Thank you for this. Now I want one!
Love your obvious affection for these "babies"!
Love the BABIES - they don't even know just how cute they are!!
This part is like Shire Heaven! Seriously, could anything be more precious?💕💕💕
Oh the greys were so beautiful, I want one. Lol. Thank you for sharing this.
Hi. Like watching the wind blow those feathered feet. Beautiful babies!
Those 2 grays are stunning.
It was jaw dropping, I wish I could watch them grow into full size shires. 😍😍
Absolutely spectacular...they are gorgeous! They did very well for being so young. You sure have to know what you're doing handling these beautiful little giants. Your camera work was so good, I felt like I was right there! Thank you so much...this was just such a treat to experience these absolutely adorable curly lock mini Apollos! We can now imagine what he must have been like when he was a baby. Great fun!
Thank you… 🙂
Many more to come 😃
You are an inspiration to so many horse owners. As a former Clydesdale breeder, I know the fascination but also the hard work associated with these beautiful animals. So happy to see someone appreciating all of the ups and downs. Congratulations!
OMG the grays are so gorgeous. I cant wait till I have a shire of my own.
Aww all the babies. I love them. ❤

Please let us know how Appollo is doing! Wow!! You really picked a star when you picked him! He sure didn't look quite as perfect as he is now, But I am so grateful 💟 that you saw his excellent potential.. He's gorgeous!
Hi everyone I am new to your channel, like it's just been 24 hours. I am Janet who resides in Yorkshire in the South of the county. I was born in West Yorkshire, the home of "TETLEY" the brewery giant magnates, where, the great and beautiful Shire Horses worked as Dray Horses pulling those great big wagons of ale to the Inns and bars around Leeds and beyond! (Sorry, I am not more knowledgeable on the subject!" However, I adore Horses of all shapes and sizes but the mighty "Shire," holds a very dear place in my heart. Until I found your channel, I wasn't even aware that such shows like this existed, so thank you for sharing! These "yearling colts" are adorable, how on earth can the judges can choose between them, god only knows. The greys are spectacular but then my attention is always grabbed by the black ones too. That's what attracted me to your horse Appollo, in the beginning, by the way you and your team have done such sterling, hard work to bring him back to life, to nurture and give 100% tender loving care. I was enthralled with his story and journey to date! I shall certainly continue to watch your channel avidly, you have just found yourself a new fan! Warmest regards and love!
Thanks for your kind comment Janet! It’s nice that we can connect through KZhead! I enjoyed reading about the things that stood out to you! Santiago
I love it. 1200 pd toddler. Gosh, they are cute.
Brand new Shires, all fluffy and gangly, but beautiful all the same. Ty.

Preciousness in motion. I would have loved to see the fillies too...
Of course Apollo is my favorite but those greys are stunning. I was smitten by #25. Fluffernutters.
I'd love to see the birth of shires and the first few months
My fav stage too goofy on any horse

Love your analogies.
What wonderfully beautiful babies!😍🤩
They are! Thanks for watching. Greetings from me and Apollo 🙂
Another great video, thank you so much. Shire Babies ❤
Such cute, HUGE babies! They want to frolic and play.
I have my Grandfather's medal, presented to him by the king for pulling the record weight of 18/1/2 tons at the shire horse society's show in 1924. This will be passed onto my cousin's daughters.
Now I am into horses wow your Channel has made me learn a lot about these sweet heartbeats of life thank you.
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🐴
Omg.....soooooo adorable 😍....❤ the grey and white...so unique......& the blk ones...wow, so Majestic😍.....but ALL ARE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES💗😁 I would luv to see in person 1 day.
They are absolutely gorgeous. Plus they are all winners.
Congratulations
Beautiful, thanks
Thank you too!
They are very cute.
Unbelievably cute! I hope you’ll subscribe (if you haven’t already)! Greetings from us - Santiago and Apollo 🙂
Some are just one and some are close to two, it appears. Are they colts, fillies, or both? Every one is adorable. Thanks, Santiago!🙂🙃😊
The announcer said the first 12 were yearling colts. That would include this group. (You can tell that #52--the white-faced grey-- is a colt!)
Beautiful Babies
Lovely! I'm coveting the smaller of the two greys. :) I do wish they wouldn't do whatever it is they do with their tails, though. It looks as though they're trying to mimic the look of docked tails, which, UGH. Not an aesthetic that does the horses any favours and not one that should be propagated. And it's interesting that they all seem to be shod even though they're only yearlings. Is that usual for this breed?
These are draft horses, for they most part they are bred to pull. Wagons & plows have a lot of harnessing behind the horse, as in near its butt & tail. They dock or shave because they don’t want ropes and reins and leathers to get tangled in the tail, ripping hair out, spooking the horse creating a very dangerous situation or worse tearing the entire tail off. It’s functional. It’s a breed designed for a job, so it’s advantageous that they are able to perform that job to the best of their ability, comfortably. Without risking injury to the horse or the driver. I like a long tail but there is a reason for short, shaved or docked tails.
they can't dock them, it's illegal in England, so although they do look a bit yuk, especially the shaved tails, it's only aesthetic.
So entertaining
I could watch them all day! Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂
Yearlings can be a pain! Like any toddler their minds are anywhere BUT where they need to be. And to judge they like you said at an awkward stage of growth it can be hard to judge them against the standard for their breed! However, it is extremely rewarding when you see the lightbulb go on in their head and things start to make sense to them!
Fuzzergarten.
❤❤❤precious😮❤❤❤❤
Aren’t they amazing! Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you’ll subscribe! Greetings from me and Apollo 🐴
It's weird how even as HUGE as they are, their proportions still look more foal-like than yearlings of other breeds. Are their backs shorter (front-to-back) maybe??
Draft horses in general are slower to reach maturity than lighter breeds.
@@fionamcgregor4268 Fascinating! So they're like the Labradors of horses.
@@audreymuzingo933 Yes, I think that is right. They have a lot of filling in to do with that big bone structure. I have found over the years that they don't mature until about 6 years or so.
@@fionamcgregor4268 Yep, supposedly it's 5 years for Labs. Mind you, with them it isn't just their bodies but also their behavior maturation. Like you will essentially have a PUPPY for 5 years in terms of potty training, chewing up objects, taking off down the street every chance it gets, jumping up on people, etc. But if you can handle all that and aren't a complete moron in terms of general husbandry and how you interact with them, you will wind up with the best pet that exists, the epitome of all the good things dogs can be, calm, loyal, smart as a whip, and still pretty puppy-like fun at the appropriate times. Now I wonder how many draft horses there were back in the day with swayed backs and other skeletal deformities. If the whole reason to own them was for work, it's hard to picture a poor farmer waiting so long and investing so much grain (even with the coldblood metabolism "discount," ha) and have nothing to show for it for literally YEARS. I mean just looking at the colts in this video; they look like babies but already as large as some saddle breeds, so one might think they could at least serve for riding, when really they should have no burden on their growing spines whatsoever.
❤️❤️❤️
Adorable the hand Let's did an awesome job, they were out there such a long time. I wonder who won and why...
They were so adorable! I wish I could have filmed the winner of every class but there was so much going on at once. They were all winners in my eyes! Thanks for watching! Greetings from me and Apollo 🙂
Who won first place? Wonderful looking colts! When I heard the clapping at the end, I thought it was the crowd and not the music and was worried the clapping would frighten the colts. 😊
Man , they sure are fuzzy! Is the climate warm enough for body clipping? They'd look so slick...❤
Absolutely so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Oh I wish I could have one. 🙏🙏 Can anyone please tell me at what age do they begin wearing shoes? And what is the difference between Shires and Drafts?
❤️❤️🥰🥰
Just me - if I knew I was taking a horse to a national show like this I would have blanketed the horse to prevent the growth of that shabby/shaggy body coat.
Haha, it’s different, but it’s a style they love their. I think cause shires are supposed to be thick and heavy, it’s just adds mass. Plus it means they do t have to fight with it. I have a video (which I’ll be posting) where a girl is putting hair styling moose all over this HUGE mare and making the hair curly and swirly 😂🤣. It’s different, but I like it cause it’s different. Thanks for watching please share
But who won?!
IKR?! So disappointed not to find out! :)
Very adorable horses, beautiful. Why they have no tails 🐎🤔?
Their tails are wrapped up, to mimic docking. Tail docking on horses & dogs is now illegal in Europe.
@@Cricket2731 Thank you for the Info 🇩🇪. Sehr schöne Pferde 🐎 🥰💯
Adorable! But I hated seeing a guy using a stallion chain on his yearling. Anyway... who won??? Did they hand out any ribbons?
😲😲😲🥰🥰🥰🖤🖤🖤
I just discovered your channel. No horses in my life, but always wished there wee. These babies are both majestic and adorably goofy. Forgive me for asking, but how do they learn that high prancing gait? I've read about a horrible practice called spring? Is that done to these creatures?
They are babies, that's how they move sometimes. It's not taught.
Is it normal for shires to wear a full set of shoes as yearlings? Lol just asking … my experience is with light riding horses.
I was thinking the same thing. This video was taken in March of this year so these are "short" yearlings. That seems a little young for a full set of shoes. Even shoes on the front seems overdoing it for such young horses.
@@DoubleDogDare54 lol at one they shouldn’t be doing much except being led. I have no problem with showing babies in hand but the shoes seem excessive 🤷🏻♀️ light horses aren’t usually shod til 3 or later and I always thought draft babies would be even later.
I was thinking maybe the shoes on these are the rubber ones that aren't very heavy you know not the big metal ones that are heavy
I thought they acted pretty well for babies.
Totally! Plus they were SO cute! 😍 Thanks for watching! Please subscribe 🙂
Hebben deze veulens al ijzers onder hun hoeven? Waarom? Dat heeft z’n veulen toch nog heel niet nodig?
Why do babies have shoes?
Are all the Shires in this show boys? Do the girls get shown, too?
Day 1 is all stallions and geldings, day 2 is mares. 🙂
Why do draft horses have their tails bobbed? Hope it is not bone bobbed just hair .
Wait...what? Those are yearlings?!
I know right? Giant babies! Thanks for watching 🙏
They are sooo cute and have so much personality but the shaved tails look ridiculous! Why would someone do that to such a majestic animal!!??
Please dont put music in Ut destroy the fin to hear the natural in the video Idont care if you hear the vind Its Nice
You should go back to America and show them how to care for a heavy horse without docking it
Absolutely! Docking is not only cruel, it is unneccesssary and a lazy persons idea of tail injury prevention!
@@carolineharrold4460 You're absolutely correct. The trauma is life long and those poor horses have no quality of life.
If you're suggesting that the horses in the show were docked, they're not - the docking of horses' tails is illegal in the UK unless the tail is damaged or injured, just like the docking and cropping of dogs and the declawing of cats. All illegal.
Should go back to America and show them how to handle a harness breed without a bearing rein.
@@carolineharrold4460 none of those tails are docked. This is traditional turnout for Shires.
The research isn’t talked about bc it’s so groundbreaking???? That’s the opposite of what groundbreaking is.
Who won?
Number 98 min 12:07 🙂
@@apollotheshire thanks, must have missed that
@@apollotheshire I can't see a 98 for the life of me. I can see a 90 at 12:07...? I did enjoy watching the individual workouts for the mature gelding class, did you film any other workouts for individual classes? It gives a better chance to see how each animal moves and why the judge chose what he/she did. Pity the prize winners are so hard to pick out. Perhaps the show organisers need to have the horses ribbons on the side the audience sit as they exit the ring so it is obvious?
@@payntpot7623 that's the one he means I'm pretty sure. Repping for the the fuzzballs! LOL! Beautifully put together youngster though!
Lovely horses but that music is just too much I cant watch anymore, im so sorry
They are beautiful, however, God gave them a tail for a reason. They need them it's barbaric to cut them.
