What if the "Evil" mother takes over the mother's mind after the girl turns 18, and decides to press criminal charges against her for putting her in a coma for all that time? What if they are alone sometime or on a trip, and the mother calls the police and tells them the daughter kidnapped and murdered her baby and the police throw her in jail?

Maybe the mother _is_ having trouble accepting her son, but the girl doesn't talk about it, because she is having _so much more_ trouble with her. And remember, the mother had met the boy already, but she had never met the girl. So, accepting the boy as being the same person would be easier for her.
