10 Places You Should Never Swim
We all love escaping the hot summer air by jumping into the water for a quick, refreshing swim. Find a lovely lake or beach, and you’re ready to go! Unfortunately, though, not all beaches are created equal. Some hold large armies of sharks, while some are home to jellyfish that can cause instant deaths. If you’re wondering what some of the places you need to avoid when going for a swim are, we’ve got an exciting list for you that’ll blow your mind! Let’s get started.

Ganges River, India
India’s sacred Ganges River may have a rich history, but is it safe to swim in it? The river’s holy status causes the population to close their eyes to the problems, but it’s no secret that the Ganges brims with dangerous germs that pose alarming health problems. Some of these problems may not be solvable by standard medicine either! The Ganges is so polluted that you wouldn’t be wrong to call it the holy river from hell!
What makes the river Ganges so toxic? Raw sewage, plastic bags, bottles, industrial waste, cow dung, partially cremated corpses and human remains, garlands of flowers, animal waste, chemical dyes from sari factories, construction waste, and the list goes on. In all honesty, the question should be, what do the locals not dump in the Ganges? The Hindus of India believe the water will cleanse their sins, so no matter how dirty it gets, they will take a dip. But whether or not that dip is safe in the long-term is up for debate.
Puerto Escondido, Mexico
A trip to Puerto Escondido can be exciting because of the incredible food, beaches, sunshine, and dancing. But beware, because the fun comes at the expense of some severe danger. The waves’ undertow can be pretty intense, and unless you’re a highly-skilled surfer, you do not want to mess with this kind of water.
One of the beaches at Puerto Escondido, the Playa Zicatela, has one of the world’s most giant waves. Even the tiny waves at this beach break with great force. So, unless you have a death wish, we’d suggest you stay away from swimming here when the waves are breaking. Even when they’re not breaking, don’t risk your life by swimming without lifeguards. One rip can sweep you deep into the ocean!
