Its so laughable that these were put forward as the dodgiest pubs. Pubs in schemes are considerably worse, and also, go at night time when its dark.

You can buy a scotch pie in there but it's usually hot on the outside and cold in the middle
Watch out for big Innes though.

Brother why do you suggest that pubs are dodgy? It’s people that mean the pub opens it’s doors. Every pub in Britain is dodgy. It’s how you speak to and treat the patrons. If you’re sound with people you’ll be looked after. If you’re a bam you’ll face trouble. That’s the same all over Britain.

There’s a reason why Glasgow has doubled as Gotham City in so many Batman/DC movies. The architecture and and atmosphere. It’s also double for New York quite a lot Ad a lot of early New York architecture was based on Glasgow’s. Also at one point during the Irish Famine the only place to receive more Irish people than Glasgow was New York.

Same here...The days of 10-12 pints and a few whiskeys a session are well gone...after 6 small bottles of weak lager and I'm booking an uber
When I lived in Glasgow the "clockwork orange" pub crawl was a good one. You take the tube/subway and get off at every stop to have a pint at nearest pub - you will certainly get some dodgy ones on that day trip 😂

1.99? My kind of pub! We used to drink Tennants in similar style pubs back in the 90s Burton on Trent, seeing pubs like this still exist is brilliant, hope they stay open for many years to come 👍

Downs bar is actually called Sammy Downs if your local! Under Central Station Bridge is called the umbrella! To be honest if your looking for rough pubs, then tbh you've not visited them.
The Horseshoe Bar in the city centre you should of went too. Legendary in the City Centre .live here .Love it .Best City in the world .People Make Glasgow 🎉

@@davidcochrane9287 Seriously? You can say that about so many places in the world. I spent 30 years working in different parts of the world and am gutted that due to family circumstances, I'm back living here. Just got to get on with it though.
All city centre pubs, very safe and quiet. Alpen Lodge looks rowdy 😅. If you come back in the summer I'll take you for a pint in some proper dodgy places. Good on you for getting Cali and Belhaven best though. Underrated beers.

I get what you all meanby it but, in American terms going of these pubs is more of a cultureshock, something indentifiable but, more 'rural' and in terms of music/vibes , something from an entirely different time. I dig it, as a foreigner but it's mad "Still Game" vibes... It's quaint. An entirely different 'drinking' culture. loved the dude doing all the covers.. guid crack.

CHEERS from Holland..love watching your pub adventures..(myself visited Glasgow manny times back in the 80 /90 ties...while we visited family in Stirling, I was to little for the pub..I still have fun memories that the family neighbours all came visit when we were around,music loud everyone was singing with a hair brush in the hand!!lots cans off beer..(even with sexy ladys on the cans😜)I❤ and miss SCOTLAND!!!(And OFCOURSE IRN BRU!!!!CHEERS🤭🍻
Haha yeah don't know why he mentions tennents lager so much ,it's not very popular here but like you say it had semi top less women on the cans ,that took me back,greetings from village next to Stirling!

Parked up a truck overnight and found a pub called the King Ludd about 25 years ago. Had a great, quiet few pints with the mostly elder generation, walking sticks, flat caps and dogs. Got up in the morning and told our next drop-off and they reckoned it was the roughest pub in Glasgow.🙃
King ludd is in Craignuke ..
a quiet word from the locals and they would have called someone to keep you company for the night.Trongate has a lot of hooars at night to for the lorry drivers and lonley..
Go to, govan, possil, shettleston, easterhouse just to name a few, you'll get a good rough pub full of banter
when i lived in London, Slough/Winsor/Uxbridge had a few good pubs with the odd rough ones and last one Staines that was rough lol
walked by pubs such as the toby jug many times but never went in......its good to see the insides of them.....good on you for coming up but try them on a weekend day lol theyll be crammed to the rafters lol.....look forward to the video on the schemes you visit
I was laughing when you went to the Tollbooth, I was thinking of that pub from the start of your video. It's a Tim pub but I always had a laugh in there. My pal was a Timmy Mallet and I'm a Gers fan he took me in there when we went to Glasgow or the toon whatever you want to call it. I haven't been there since 98 , back then it was a pound a pint! Cheers to Scotland!!
It's £1.50 a pint now. Inflation!
I'm a tim and a plumber..When I was serving my time, my big tradesman who was showing me the game was a Gers fan and he used to take me to all the Rangers pubs on a friday or sat and let everyone everyone know who I supported..Used to take a good slagging for that, but it was all good natured and after a while it was never mentioned..Great memories!

I once tried ordering a pint of lager with a dash of lime in it in a pub next to Glasgow station - it was a blazing hot day- the barman looked me up and down and just said “we don’t do cocktails”!

Facts!
Years ago very occasionally, after night shift, when it was our last night on, we used to go to The Grant Arms, only place you could get served at that time in the morning. We reckoned that coming off night shift was just like finishing work in the evening.
Nice one again mate. That last bar reminded me of the bar where begbie throws the glass in trainspotting. Love these videos. "booming" 😁

it's not always raining in Scotland! I've been there when it's been sunny and Hot if you want rough Pubs go to the east end and Duke street

used to visit a friend in pollok shaws. in Glasgow. and I had a stand at the motorbike show at the SECC. always a great night out. battered square sausage an chips an Tenants 70 shiling
Went up to watch a Celtic game from England a couple of years back and all the people in the pubs coudlnt have been any friendlier.
£2 a pint brilliant I'm from Glasgow the main square you visited was George Square with the city chambers being the main big building
Getting thirsty watching this mate ! Also those pubs near Glasgow Cross are open around 8AM, and they can get busy at that time. Was a godsend for a curer when I was on it. 🤣
There's "dodgy bars" in Edinburgh as well. Went up there from Wales for the rugby and got drinking with Hibernian lads. Once they knew we were Welsh they wouldn't let us by a drink.
I worked in Scotland for my last job and remember the first night in Lanark ordering 2 pints of Tennant's and nearly fell over when he said it was a fiver 😂 I pay more than that for 1 pint round here!

@@spreadingthedrewth4643 you know that church/tower they light up blue, the little side street off that there's a curry house with a pub nextdoor. The curry house only sold cans of Irn Bru so you had to go to the pub for the beers
The last 2 times I''ve gone to Glasgow, I always go to the Tennent's brewery. That place is class with a bar for and tasting (included with tour) Even got myself a pint glass from there. Love me some Tennent's

You got the authentic trip to Glasgow, complete with rain. Im surprised you werent on the floor by the end - not from the drinking, but from how cheap the pints were. Easterhouse should be interesting... Shame no one was up for the trip with you. Did you drive up or train? Back when I had to do a few trips back and forth from brum to there it ended up cheaper to fly than the train - madness!

haha great vid! moved up from london and lived on clyde st in the city centre for 8yrs before moving to lisbon 5yrs ago, i know every boozer you went in well! glasgow is a cracking city and apart from the weather i miss it everyday! i arrived an englishman and left a glaswegian, you walked past my local after the alpine, the 2 heided man, could get very lively in there 😂

@@crabapples1995 exactly if your on your own thats a pass in most pubs as long as yer not a prick or bump into a prick , go in a few handed in any real pub with a local clientele those locals are going to be on you wanting to know everything , they will be on you like paint , Glasgow scheme and Scottish town local pubs your just not getting a pass if your a strangers its a f ing inquisition in some places

Dows is a good wee boozer at the weekend. Handy for the trains at Queen Street station too.

Volume on drinkers is much more I fugre so it's based on turnover. I expect rents are considerably cheaper and I guess the Scottish Government did something with energy costs...
I live just outside Nottingham and it's £5 - £6 for a pint here. Dread to think what it is in London. 🙄

Worked up there yrs ago. Used to go to The Iron Horse before going to work. Had to buy a roll though. Always full of builders and posties . Brilliant
I remember someone telling me yearssss ago that they had relatives that lived in Glasgow and when they went to visit they took them to a pub at 8am, they were all having a fry up and a pint at 8am for breakfast …….lmao
The 1st pub you went in used to open at 8am, you could order a pint aslong as you ordered food (toast for a pound) legendary place❤😂
"The Toby Jub" was always busy they would do 2 bottles of Tuborg for £1 ❤😂
Nothing bad about any of those pubs, stood the test of time as you could tell with the locals n atmosphere 👍

Good video mate. I’m from Glasgow, it’s strange seeing your own city on KZhead like that. Plenty of high end bars but plenty of dives too. If you are looking for rough areas try the east end like Shettleston, Tollcross and Parkhead
None of those pubs looked dodgy at all , everyone looked very chilled out , I’ve been in pubs where you could cut the atmosphere with a knife , all it would take to set things off is a “ dirty look “ at someone , some header taking offence where none was meant . The craziest pub I was in was the Bogside Inn recently demolished but back in the early 70’s it had a machine gun post set up at the front door to stop bomb attacks , the atmosphere inside was always relaxed as everyone knew each other but if a stranger walked in it was like a Tarantino moment , those were the days though , you enjoyed every minute like it was your last because there was a high chance it could be 😂
The Tolbooth serves one of the best pints of Guinness in the city, so you lucked out there. Great pub.

I went in one somewhere near Ibrox and it was one of the friendliest pubs I’ve ever been to in my life. Some nice people up there. Keep an eye out for any graffiti on your travels
