5G could have saved the Apple Car Nilay
Imagine performing a surgery remotely inside your self driving Apple Car powered by T-Mobile’s Nationwide 5G Network
sorry , I can imagine only on Sprint's imaginary 5G network@@jbnelson
If only it had AI and 8K
Now I'll never get to drive the apple car in Grand Turismo 7.
It could be a (paid) DLC in the future.
I think the big mistake was Apple naming the project "Titan." We all know it's bad luck to name vehicles after Titanic--especially after what happened to that submersible. 😢
Love this show and definitely appreciate it being on KZhead now. I do wish there could have been a longer and more serious conversation about the outrage and anger directed at Google from CNBC and other outlets around the image generation feature of Gemini. It's like no one at the network understands or maybe they do but see no issues when AI generates only white people. It was really disappointing to watch it play out.
it was always on youtube
BRB. Ordering my "Patel 2024. Nerds, beware." yard sign.

The reality is Apple is not near as inventive and innovative as people are trained to believe.
One of the funniest Vergecasts I’ve listened to in a long time, and the first one I’ve watched! Hit me up when the “An iconic place for food” T-shirts drop!
Re: your comment that everyone is doing the “serious Steve Jobs” impression - I think it’s really Jony Ives whom they’re mimicking (when you think about it)
Siri drive me to the nearest coffee shop
"Here's a webpage I found"
😂😂😂
thanks for the great episode! keep it up🎉
can you plz do a Vergecast tech setup rundown? mics, preamps, interface, DAW/software, post processing, etc 👀
a PERFECT apple car would've literally been a SIMPLE crossover-sized car with a HUD that goes across the entire windshield and also transparent passenger windows/screens to do AR on that connects with the apple phones in your pocket.
I used to think Nilay Talked over Alex a lot, (he does) but seeing this made me notice he does it to everyone. Twin.
Sending good vibes to Alex, hope she gets better soon!
TBH, when you do product development you often you make lo res mockups (out of cardboard, actors, etc) of your concept for others to better understand the thing you're making
Apple has moved into the TV with the Apple TV box and the streaming service. They really should have gone further with their own full television. They still could, especially if their AR/VR goes bust.
If you really want a car without a steering wheel, call a cab it's cheaper !
Johnny Ive: We need to halt work on a car and start work on a FLYING CAR 🧐
I always love a good “Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer” reference. I just wish it didn’t apply to the Supreme Court. Gotta get those fossils out of there.
I need someone to memeify the Apple car story, because I think it’s funnier visualized than thought of
Obviously wheels should be round. But they should be spheres not the current toruses. An apple car would’ve had spherical wheels, magnetically controlled, allowing omnidirectional rotation. Sliding sideways into parallel parking spots would’ve been so dope.
SCOTUS Stuff was good
The wife actually thought it was hilarious and was planned , she has a great sense of humor , was not a negative thing at all to them
Now thats the Apple Car is put to rest will we finally get to see zpower back?
What if the Apple car would have been some mysteriously, yet effectively working DEVICE... instead of the monstrosities we see today that have become their own 'people immobilizers' since they get us stuck in traffic?..
TLDR?
Try to play off the Alex replacement is hilarious! We all know her commentary has been utterly lackluster and it's about time a change was made.
I just saw in your store you guys are selling phone wallpapers... seriously?
Who cares about a car that is only rumoured but never revealed lol.
Misinformative headline, no?
No 😂
I love how their derangement against Elon prevents them from giving him any sort of credit for successfully building a car company (let alone an innovative one) when even Apple couldn’t even do it
They've repeatedly given him credit for this on multiple previous episodes lol. Love the ironic comment, though.
@@snowballeffect7812 Really? I haven't heard Nilay speak positively of Elon in the last 10 years, The Verge still shits out an anti-Elon article every week
@@trentbosnic Oh, yeah. That's because Elon is an egomaniac who didn't earn any of his wealth through his own merits. That doesn't mean they don't see the success of Space X and Tesla. They regularly talk about how Tesla really pioneered and pushed for normalization of EV's. That doesn't mean they need to talk good about Elon, too, or give credit where not much is due. He was a great hypeman, but now he's not doing anything really useful.
@@snowballeffect7812 Lmao, enlighten us as to how Elon didn't earn his wealth
@@trentbosnic the same way i didn't earn my wealth lol. The vast majority of my net wealth is from investments. Elon the emerald mine owner's successor has tremendous amounts of capital access and has bought his positions on most of the companies he's on the board of. He has no patents to his name as far as I'm aware.
