Hayo1706 well it’s not the fact that it’s just “blue” it’s the light in general too. But unless they test it on humans properly, we don’t know for sure. But one thing is true, any activity before bed will make you less tired. If you get in the Habit of laying down at the same exact time of day, your biological rhythms will follow and you will be more likely to be tired enough to fall as sleep if you don’t break the timing cycle and don’t do anything before bed that could spike your brain activity.

December: so you haven’t heard of me yet?
I used to suffer from panic attacks multiple times a day. It affected my ability to fall asleep most nights. I eventually made a full recovery from my panic attacks but struggled with pretty bad insomnia. I would try so hard to fall asleep. Just laying there with my eyes closed for hours. Eventually, I came up with a way to observe my thoughts while trying to sleep the same way I learned to observe my thoughts and feelings during a panic attack. Worked great and never had a problem falling asleep again. Now, I do a mix of that along with a mindset of not trying to fall asleep at all. I don’t care about the time, if my mind starts racing, etc. it just doesn’t matter. With this approach, I can fall asleep in what feels like an instant. Anyways, hope this helps someone or at least gets you to think about a different approach.

I’m the type of person that falls asleep really quick most nights and love a really warm bed. So your number one sounds crazy to me.
It's the same with me. I usually even sleep fine in heat waves, whereas a cold room can keep me awake for hours. Also: screens have absolutely zero effect on my sleep.

This seems like a good video to start with on my new routine I’ve been thinking of I was also thinking of having a special smoothie about 45 minutes before bed this is what the smoothie would have in it: 1. Milk 2. Yogurt 3. Strawberries 4. Bananas 5. Dark chocolate (just a little bit) and 6. Honey. I found all of these things as stuff that will help you sleep and I thought it would be good to try
All this food in your stomach will keep your digestive system busy while you wat to put your body to sleep. Why would you do this? A lot of fructose (sugar=sugar) gives you direct energy.

Four years late but I found this video, and I'm gonna try some of the stuff I've seen just outta interest. (hope that didn't sound insulting). I wanted to add something that I find useful when trying to close my mind off to the outside world and I learnt while trying meditation techniques, you may find it useful too. When closing your mind off and trying not to think of anything at all, which is difficult, I try the controlled slow breathing stuff and concentrate on the breathing, and to help me do this I say to my self "in" and "out" while I am breathing in and out at the same time, making sure that I am saying these words just as slowly as I am breathing the word. It takes a bit of practise to get use to it, but you know what they sat, practise makes perfect. I hope this can help you out next time you are trying to get to sleep and need to close your thoughts off. Good night.

This will affect your sleep because the “ blue light” that radiates of of screens will keep you up at night. If you need to go on your screen before you sleep often, I recommend some “blue light glasses” they are very cheap and you can get them at any store. Hope this helps 😊

4:38 is where the 2-min technique is, for those going insane with insomnia and who've heard the same tips as here 1,000+ times before. Lifelong insomniac here: I find that reverse-psychology helps me more than meditating (and saying "don't think" on repeat as suggested here - that really will drive me crazy tbh.) I use podcasts, something I'm interested in but nothing too chatty / laughy / entertaining - something long and a bit academic. Volume not too soft (I don't know why, but slightly louder seems to work). Relax like you're going to sleep, but pay attention to the podcast. It's like attaching your mind to something irrelevant to whatever worries you're having. You're then trying to stay awake... which will ironically set you off to sleep.

I agree that the Navy method works. I got the techniques from a mindfulness app, and do it regularly to get to sleep quickly. Get comfortable. Relax your muscles. I start at my feet, working my way up. It is important to relax the face. Focus on long slow breaths. And then to help focus the mind, i count my breaths, drom 1 to 10. Once i get to 10, i start at 1 again and repeat. If a thought does pop in, ackowledge it and let it go and continue counting breaths. Before you know it, you'll be waking up to your alarm. And i agree its probably 2 minutes to get to sleep.

@@lagilagoson8392 I did it listening to a mindfulness app sleepcast. It was probably 2 months until I applied the techniques without the app and was surprised that they worked without the app. I also did it last night just after watching this video and making the comment. I swear by this method.
I took 300mg caffeine around 9-10am. Hit the gym for 5 hours. Did legs and upper body. Ate 2 full meals and walked around. It is now 8pm. My body is aching and tired but I can’t fall asleep.
