A video on safety equipment would be great!
Styrofoam gas engine
I always have to instantly watch when I get a notification from my favorite KZheadr project farm!!!!
A video on hammers would be good.
the nut splitter has worked for me a lot of times. I have never actually fully split a nut. I let it get a good bite. Wack it with a hammer,, It has cracked a LOT of stuck bolts for me.
“Badly rounded bolt” Thats.. thats a circle at this point
lol. Great point
I've definitely seen a few bolts that I thought/hoped were cap screws until I realized there was no hex/torx indent....
That thing is rounder then the Earth!

Between him and the T.T.C, they both have helped me put my money into some great tools that im very glad that i bought.
"Made in America with global components" that basically just means all the parts where made in china but the kit was assembled in America.
I agree with this person this is how American gets all the money
@Tony HD Happens a lot with imports from Vietnam and other nations near China. China builds it then ships it there where they slap a little piece on then say they assembled it so it avoids sanctions on China
Did a search on this which resulted in pages of confusing words as if written by a corporate lawyer

I have ordered products directly from china that were stamped with "made in usa". I also worked in a manufacturing plant in nc where the products we made said "made in china" "...tiawan" and usa. Restaurants I worked at sold chinese and vietmanese fish as local.
This man spent more money on this test than the total amount on my switch lite. Gotta appreciate him for the sacrifice of his money.

@@jaydunbar7538 It's the inferior version of the Nintendo Switch optimized for portability because too many people, in spite of the fact the Nintendo Switch is a bulky convertible hybrid games console, complained it was a bulky console. Due to its lack of a docking connector, there is no reason to use a dock and it is always running at "portable mode" clocks which means games for it suffer more being on a platform providing less port for the processor to crunch math and spit graphics. Personally, I'd avoid it. Get a Gen1 switch and see if you can't use the RCM exploit to use some custom firmware. Then you can _really_ have some fun with it. No one gonna talk about how the Irwin and Snap on sets are *identical* and Snap on set is damn near $200 more expensive...
I suspect the Snap-On tool has much better heat treatment and possibly a better grade of steel, but they were likely made in the same place by the same machines. The Snap-On guy will also drive out and bring you a new one if you manage to break it, that's the real reason for the difference in price.

Nut splitter : what we called the crossbeam on a bicycle between the seat and the handle bar 😉
Did that once when i was in highschool. When i was standing upright on the bike pedalling up an inclimb, my foot accidentally slipped off pedal. I came down hard on the crossbeam on my sack, crushing it, causing me to stop and vomit onto the sidewalk. Biked home with an extremely sore and painful crotch. Stowed my bike in the shed and headed inside to check on the damage. Part of my white underwear were stained red. I had managed to break the skin on my testicles causing bleeding but no serious damage. Being a genius i then decided to disinfect with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I will never forget that pain. Right messed me up for the better part of 3 weeks. Good times.

"How many people have used a Channellock..." Holds up a pair of vise-grips. Todd, yes, I'm having some fun, at your expense. But, you make Mondays worthwhile for me. LOVE the show! steve
“Channel Lock” as well as “Vise Grip” are brand names. They both make and brand the same design. I have a set of “vise grips” made by “Channel Lock”. If you want to be “old school” and name the tool by it’s manufacturer, then that is your choice, but not the only choice.
Channel Lock changed their name from Champion due to the success of their 'channel-lock slip joint pliers. Vice Grip is the original locking pliers. Like Kleenex and Velcro, the original is synonymous with the tool. Clearly we all know what channel lock pliers are, and what vice grips are. It's not jusy a brand name
@@paulcopeland9035 a Channel Lock though is this: images.homedepot-static.com/productImages/79fa0246-8cd4-43b4-8898-1e3a599fe4eb/svn/channellock-all-trades-tongue-groove-pliers-440-64_1000.jpg and it's called that due to it's channels to lock the size in. Technically, "Vice Grips" are "Locking Pliers." But, it is true that Channel Lock and Vice Grips are brand names. Just, when someone says "Pass me the channel locks" you don't expect them to toss you a set of locking pliers.
@@paulcopeland9035 " “Channel Lock” as well as “Vise Grip” are brand names." Yes, and the colloquial use of the terms refers to two completely different tools. Rocket socket when they first introduced it in like the 90s had late-night infomercials that I used to watch as a little kid. I wanted them so bad even though I had no use for them.
Just bought the rocketsocket 13pc set for only one project. 2000 4runner lower ball joint. I live in Michigan where rust is terrible. I had replaced one side a few weeks ago when it popped out in my driveway. I ended up having to drill out two of the four bolts and it was to say the least not fun. I was able to move my 4runner out of the middle of the driveway and order the ball joint for the other side. At the same time I also ordered the rocketsocket set. Two days later I did the job. Having this set saved me about an hour or so of laying on my back, trying to drill up. Thanks for the video. Best 65 bucks I've spent in a wile. Thanks again. Love your honest and informative videos.
Thanks so much! Thanks for sharing.
I purchased the Luckyway set based off this review, at $25.50, which is nice to see it is cheaper 2 1/2 years later then it was when the video was made. I thought they seemed very close to the Rocketsocket, but much better price, and slightly more compact then the Amartison. Thank you! Very well produced, as always!

I needed to come back and comment because I ended up needing a set of extractors for a safe installation. I ended ip buying the amartison due to the average performance for the cost, and man am I glad i did. dang thing bit into the bolt and ripped it right out with no struggle. thank you!

I have a craftsman set of those reverse spiral sockets, they're amazing, got me out a lot of issues
angle grinder always worked for me
I have the same Craftsman set, been about 8 years , it's great! I have a bluepoint one also and have had to replace it several times now.
Blue point= read cheaper snap on.
I don't even try a normal socket on flange head bolts that have been exposed to corrosion, straight in with reverse spiral damaged socket, I have an Irwin set but found a very cheap chinese works better.
My only issue is I loose the kit half the time
Test some oil filter tools! They never tighten in the space available and slip if theres oil on the cartridge. Thanks for the video!

You should never be using a oil filter wrench to tighten a filter only to remove it.
@@MasterDreadnought89 They're talking about the filter tools that apply clamping force as you remove the filter. The harder you unscrew the tighter it clamps.

Just goes to show you that even some of the insanely overpriced snap on stuff can be over rated and in this case just expensive shit really
Thanks for the feedback.
I know this is 2 months late but it should be noted that snap on stuff is really meant for small mechanic shops as it works best with impact tools and it wasn't really tested for what it is intended for. Still a great video though
But snap-on will replace any tool you break, no questions asked. A true lifetime warranty means a lot over the years
@@CatfishBradley if that really is the case that would justify the price at least a bit. But doesn’t help if you need to get the job done and your tool breaks..

"Made in the USA from globally sourced components" = we bought the sockets and case from China, then we "made" it in the USA by putting the sockets in the case and shrink wrapping it... smdh
Yeah there is European "made" stuff like that too
People want cheap but they don't want cheap quality...can't have one with the other unfortunately
Mark: Nothing counts, by Federal regulation, for "Made In USA" except the actual product. The Federal Trade Commission busts companies all the time for violating this. Time to log into FTC.com and see what foreign components means. It's hard to believe I know but maybe some company is trying to cheat.
As ImaEtech said there are actually laws/policies regarding what percentage or amount of work constitutes being Made in the USA.
Sad, but true!
I'd really appreciate if you'd review windshield wiper fluid! Some say they remove bug guts or bead water, others are almost like water and others are more like antifreeze in thickness.
RYAN SEACREST she said fluid
if you care for your cars paint, use only water as washer fluids leave a water streak/stain on your body panels and only come off if you buff the car
RainX washer fluids are hands down the best. Orange is for general cleaning and ice melt green is general cleaning and bug remover. Either one is only $5 a gallon and work better than any other windshield washer fluid out there. Source? 25+ years of driving all around North America in all types of climates, environments, and different levels of filthy, buggy, and freezing conditions.
@@TheMattc999 I tried that RainX orange stuff several years ago. I didn't personally care for it. It left orange stains in my white paint and while the RainX properties did work, over time I ended up with a thick film around the area where the wipers wiped. I ended up having to use a buffer and glass polish to get it off. That's when I went back to the regular ol' blue stuff. Honestly, I was disappointed because I've used the traditional RainX products for years and never had issues with them.
This. Not just their ability to clean the windshield but also protect it from stuff sticking on it. I've seen some wiper fluid advertised even as being suitable for rally driving, I'm curious how well it would actually protect from dirt/dust sticking.

Thanks, will do!
Those channel locks look exactly like my vice grips. By the way, your tests have saved me thousands on tools. Thank you. I'm gonna het a set of rocket sockets.
Great to hear!
Lol another guy said channel locks also in comments
Thousands? Really? You must buy a LOTTA tools.
Just ordered a set of the rocket sockets after watching this video. Great performance at a decent price made in the US sold!
@@donellmuniz590 I do
"badly rounded bolts" To be honest it looks like you did an excellent job rounding those off.
Thanks!
I always LOVE the little snicker he gives when he mentions the outrageously priced items.
Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. Detailed and educational. Fortunately my nuts are both rounded and I certainly don't want them removed. I have had the need for the use of the equipment you tested here in the past. So it's good to know which brand is the best and most durable for a future purchase. 👍🏻🇺🇸
😂😂🤣🤣
Irwin: can be used with impact tools Also Irwin: shattered
Thanks for sharing.
I was deciding between the Rocketsocket and the Irwin. I'm taking the Rocketsocket
That actually surprised me, I have a Irwin set and haven't had a problem with it yet.
How can you make a socket in the USA with global components? Are they buying Chinese metal?
@@ProjectFarm you should've upload this video for No Nut November 🤣 that thumbnail got me twisted
Rocketsocket offers free shipping on its website and it seems it also applies to Canada! This one goes directly on my wishlist :) Thanks for the great video as always
Thank you very much!
Good to know, I try to avoid amazon if I can get it somewhere else for the same price.
Rocketsocket seems to be a great competitor to snap-on!
Thanks for the heads up,
Gotta say, you are the best. Thank you for the insane amount of quality content.
Thanks so much!
I got the rocket socket based on your video, and those things WORK. Took a completely rounded lug nut off my wheel stud with only a 15" breaker bar.
Thanks for sharing.
"Made in USA with global components" AKA, parts made in China with American price tag.
It looked like fake snap on
That's snap on for you and you pay double that of a non branded item. Lovely
Just like a harley.
As usual, a great test with real life considerations such as tool diameter. Thanks for the time and effort.
You are welcome!
the value of this channel cannot be overstated to consumers like me! Thanks!
You are welcome! Thanks for the suggestion.
Been watching videos from project farm for a couple years. Always a good watch. Did my first comment yesterday.
Awesome! Thank you!
It would be neat to see a brake fluid test of different brands of DOT 4. I’m sure you could come up with super clever ways to test 👍
Great suggestion! Thank you.
Why dot4? Seems like a niche market when everything is rated for 3 or 5, not 4.
@@leftyeh6495 resistance To heat , DOT 4 resist more heat than 3. You will see DOT 4 fluid used in high performance cars, and most motorcycle now.
I would like to see the results compared to DOT 5.
Lefty eh I think you’re thinking of DOT 5. The silicone based brake fluid
Let's be real! Nobody has ever rounded a bolt in a spot that's accessible. Hell I usually round bolts that I can't even see.
I have, but with an impact. no way could I do that by hand!
same here !
Excellent point, and very true!
@@jnimitzch4738 And then your next two weekends are gone.
When you apply so much torque in a confined spot thinking you're going to make it when all of the sudden: "SLIPP"
Hey project farm just wanted to thank you for what you do. Came back to this video because I needed a set of good nut removers to do a seized up set of lugnuts. I'm buying the amartisan set, if theres a project that will destroy it this is it. I'll update if anyone is interested.
You are welcome!
Watching this channel give you great ideas on problem solving tools. Tools you never thought existed.
Thanks!
"who hasn't used a pair of Channel locks dealing with a stuck nut or bolt?" (holds up Vice Grips) Just messin with ya! I
beat me by 2 hours :)
Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectFarm Todd, gonna have to do a Vice Grip challenge now. Methinks you'll have two sets of contenders. 1.) The "Chineseium" tools that don't work and 2.) IRWIN, proving that if you throw enough Chinese steel at a tool, it will perform as well as "Dad's" tools from 50 years ago. Gotta throw an old-school Made in 'Murica Vice-Grips in the mix.
@@MrRaab-hu9rs no, the vintage Irwin Pedersen made vice grips were way better than the current chineseium vise grips. They take use and abuse way better and the teeth stay sharp longer. Sad to see what an awesome brand has become
@@jrotcelite I came into a pair of the good old ones when I bought my house. Previous owner was a lovely old lady who's husband had died a decade earlier, so she left his workshop to me.. So happy to have them.
I would hold irwin to their tool breaking. for 100 bucks and a reputable brand, the tool shouldnt break, especially when hammering it down on a nut isnt improper use.
Irwin has gone down the shitter in recent times. Their taps are made of glass.
As suggested in the video, and reported elsewhere, the Irwin is identical to the Snap-On. As he said in the video, he thinks he was a little bit overenthusiastic with the hammer. These type of extractors are very hard, and thus very brittle. It probably wasn't the tool's fault. You shouldn't use more than light tapping to get these started. The spiral cut will pull the tool down as you rotate as long as you get a little bit of grip. Hitting this type of extremely hard, almost ceramic-like steel too hard will cause it to crack, and as seen, break under torque. That said, a couple other tools did a really good job at a much lower cost. The rocket socket in particular seems to be a good value for the money.
@@puckcat22679 On the other hand the Irwin is listed on Irwin's website (I just checked) as for use with impact wrenches, so it should have some toughness.
@@puckcat22679 On the other hand heavy hammering on Chinese product seems to work well...
@@puckcat22679 Don't simp. Irwins should be better than Chinesium, not worse.
Always love your videos, when I'm bored I always go to these videos.
Re: Snap on and Irwin, I once visited a factory in Fayetteville, Arkansas (since closed, I believe). They made combination wrenches there. All of them. All of the American ones. Same factory, just different names on the wrenches.
Hands Down this is my Favorite tool review/test channel. Head and shoulders above the rest.
Wow, thanks!
Its great but... Is head and shoulders really a good thing? If you had an accident and had to amputate all 4 limbs youd still have head and shoulders - knees and toes would be what you wished for. This channel is knees and toes above.
Best tool review channel. We're going to test that
"The most expensive kit we'll be testing is the Snap-On kit" I'm SHOCKED! Shocked, I tells ya.
Thanks for watching.
@Ben Finny Or more!
I was looking at 140-ish piece socket sets to buy and thought "I wonder JUST how overpriced Snap-On tools are" I went and checked.... 700 fucking dollars and it didn't even come with a single ratchet. Just sockets.
@Ben Finny At twice the price you must have gotten discount
@Ben Finny "snapp"
That helical cutting tool is awesome. Used one recently on special "lock" nuts on a caravan that the previous owner had lost the sockets for.
Thanks for sharing.
Just found the channel and the length you go to for a unbiased thorough comparison is unparalleled. I did notice the initial fracture was from the hammer on the Irwin socket can be seen @8:15 but than again the socket before should have loosened the nut.
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
@Follow TheRabbit good catch, I didn't even notice that! 👍
I appreciate what you do man! It shows everyone the right equipment, tools, etc. Thank you.
I appreciate that!
4:03 "I couldn't find any information on where this product is manufactured" Sooo... China, then. lol.
@Mobile Terminaluser you are about 50yrs out of date with Taiwan. Taiwan are not in the same category as the others.
@Mobile Terminaluser China doesn't equate cheap quality. There are many slightly more expensive Chinese products that give far better value and even quality. Your iphone is also made in China and so are many other products including huawei phones. If it was so cheap or if quality is bad, you wouldn't have Chinese High speed rail which is far more stable than Japanese High speed rail. The Chinese one is 11 times in length with better safety record than European trains!
@@jonnoMoto Taiwan is part of China. UN and most of countries in this world do not acknowledge it as a “qualified” country. ROC never give up the claim for the whole area in China, but in fact it agreed with PRC so that they were not fighting anymore but proceeded in negotiation since sometime around 1950 for peaceful unification. That is the key part for you to understand the situation. ROC and PRC agreed to negotiate in order to have a “pause” in the civil war. In every way PRC is ahead of Taiwan including integration and infrastructure. However, people are afraid of Change and do not realize how far ahead China is already especially in first tier cities.
@@AFlyingCookieLOL Taiwan is not known for counterfeiting, intellectual property theft, and poor quality copies.
Yes it is china I have one
I really love this channel. Super relaxing to watch. Brilliant.
Thank you very much!
Video from a year ago coming in clutch now. I was trying to loosen my torsion key bolt on my 02 durango to put on a torsion key/spring shackle lift/level kit on it and the driver side bolt rounded off a bit. I like the rocket socket and thats probably what im going to buy to get it out the rest of the way to put my torsion keys in when it warms back up a tad. Everybody should appreciate the lengths and expense you go to too give us all the best head to head tool videos on youtube. With their being so many gimecky claims by these tool manufacturers and half if not more not even coming close to their claim, its great having somebody who will show just which one actually is the best. Choosing the right tool is so hard now because so many companies just lie to get as many sales as possible
