Besides various fungi and mushrooms, the mountains are abundant in all kinds of bamboo shoots, sweet bamboo shoots, bitter bamboo shoots, and mountain bamboo shoots...Whenever I think of bamboo shoots, it always makes me drool. Today, I want to introduce bitter bamboo shoots. It is also called the giant bamboo shoots. It can be sliced and boiled to make "yellow bamboo shoots", or it can be shredded to soak in water and ferment for days to make "sour bamboo shoots". Though it is sour and smelly, the sour bamboo shoots have a unique taste that is truly irreplaceable.
Different bamboo shoots will give you a different taste when cooked in different ways. But one thing that remains the same is its freshness. Do enjoy the bamboo shoots during the wet season.

  • Такая красавица!!! Очень естественная , без всякой фальши., на лице всегда лучезарная улыбка. Умеет делать абсолютно всё, с каждым видео я поражаюсь её умениям! Ты большая молодец и умничка! Во многих азиатских семьях общепринято заботиться о своей семье, с почитанием относиться к старшим. Я тоже азиатка из России , живу в небольшом провинциальном городке в квартире со всеми удобствами, и прибегая с работы, стараюсь готовить очень быстрые блюда без всяких заморочек. Поэтому просматривая такие видео, которые пропитаны спокойствием умиротворением , единением с природой, отдыхаешь хотя бы душой.

  • I’m so glad because she showed you guys how a typical Chinese girl looks like and what she does for her family. We Chinese girls have been sacrificed for so long as a daughter and mother. I believe she can feed her whole family and I’m so proud to see a girl has this courage to represent herself and her life in front of the western world that normal Chinese people would be scared to do so. She is so real that no superstar would compare with her.

    • Yunnan is a beautiful place, I’ve only visited once though because my family lives in Sichuan. It’s a good way to see how China used to be (nature wise) and it’s pretty much the metaphorical bread bowl of China. Unfortunately a lot of people there only speak Cantonese (with a heavy dialect) so it can be really hard to communicate if you don’t speak Cantonese or aren’t from the region. I have a hard time understanding when she speaks fast and Cantonese is one of my first languages 😂

    • Yes! It’s also a thing in Asian country’s to serves to head of house first (normally a grandfather) then to serve the elders, parents/aunts/uncles, then the cousins, then yourself. It is a way to pay respect and show you care for them. It’s not as widely practiced these days because it’s viewed as inconvenient but I love seeing how appreciate grandma looks.

  • Everytime I see Lotus seeds reminds me of Untamed. I used hate bamboo shoots when I was kid/teens n would throw a fit whenever it's was cooked in my house holds cuz of the Smells but now me and my siblings who used to hate bamboo shoots when were kids now love it so much.😃😄 gonna try making some of those recipies

  • 這台灣應該叫麻竹筍，是筍中比較大隻的。味道常容易帶苦味，所以常切片曬乾，之後才做料理，比較不會有苦味。 也和你們一樣，常做成酸筍。我親戚，常常一筍多吃，部分切片曬乾，變筍干。有些撕成條狀，變酸筍。如果酸筍吃不完，再曬成酸筍干。

    • I'm touched by that too but it is not baby fish ;p it is a small but special fish called bitterlings fish. They use river mussel to breed their babies so they would lay eggs into the tube of the mussel that can make their babies safe.

  • Lovely country views lovely family and sweet lovely girl. Can't make her kind of food . We don't have bamboo shoots or just about anything she cooks with . But she is fun and interesting to watch. Her farm life reminds me of my life when I was growing up . Her grandmother is very much like my dear sweet departed mother .

  • Ahao have grown so well now. I still remembered those days when he was still this younger kid, always tagging along with Dianxi and Dawang to get veggies and fresh ingredients from the forest, from the fields, from the lakes or anywhere in that beautiful place of them.
