  • This video felt to me like a more behind-the-scenes of the building process - showing failures, discussing ideas, feedback and team members interacting. To be honest, I like it more than the "whoah, look, so awesome" *explosions* videos - I think the result is cool, but so is the process, and so are the interactions and journey of the people making the final tech. The editing was also 10/10! I liked the added funny stuff.

  • Long term goal idea for the final iron man suit way in the future. If you decide to go with this laser on the final final suit, it would be cool to see you somehow integrate both nozzles into the arm piece and do some sort of electronic in JARVIS that allows the suit to swivel between the short nozzle and the long distance one on command. Like put both into the arm piece next to each other on a piece that moves left and right and clicks it in place dependant upon which one you needed.

  • As powerful as they are, they're also quite dangerous since they're essentially invisible. Imagine shooting that thing into someone's eyes, it's impossible to see and you're instantly blind.

  • My company makes lasers just like that 1.5kW one! dang I wish I knew I could have tried getting them a custom one. if you all end up making another I'd be so happy to offer what support I can with the laser! we have a 2kW handheld that's air cooled. the fans are very loud but no chiller needed

  • Given how Stark's "laser" acts and that he already has a source of agitated particles, I think his "laser" is not a laser at all - there's no photons in it, it's just a beam of carefully focussed "repulsor juice" (remember those tubes he had filling his first gauntlet prototype?) output through some kind of expendable "lens module".

    • I think they could get away with some X/Y slides on the front and a ball joint pivot on the back and then have a mode where once you fire it it does it's best to angle itself to stay pointed at the same spot. Would be much more compact as you wouldn't need much travel to get a decent amount of angle adjustment as opposed to keeping it parallel.

  • This is pretty much a bunch of guys, in a cave, with a box of scraps.......now just imagine what an organization like DARPA is doing. Staggering ingenuity, kit-bashing, and genius level intellect on display with this crew. Hacksmith really does recruit some truly bright people, and as the years have gone by, the stuff they've put together has grown exponentially more insane, and wondrous. Government level groups MUST be at this level and a good ways beyond, mindblowing to think what THEY are up to.
