Some date ideas are better than others for first dates, but if you're dating someone with a personality that you enjoy, even the mundane becomes exciting simply because of their presence. There is a little bit of competition, but most of the holes are silly or have a gimmick so it keeps competition low intensity.

  • My first date with my partner was in late June back in 2018. Initially, I was going to leave because she was taking a bit to get ready (got used to it). We went out to our local pizza spot which we grew to become huge wing lovers. After our date, I decided to take her to the park up until the sun went down. We had walked up to a private part of the park where we sat on the train tracks. I can still remember the feeling of her head leaning on my left shoulder as the sunset thinking ‘this feels nice’. Something I hadn’t felt for a long time. Love her more to this day.

    • I had a similar experience recently. We met up at the local train station and walked around in the city and just talked. After that, I took her to a nice mountain (not that big at all but still great view) from like 10pm to 4am (yes, 4am 😂) and the rain was POURING down. I sat there with her head on my shoulder and thought ”wow, I really haven’t felt this happy in a while”. We chatted a lot on that mountain. Later, we just looked at each other as I then leaned in for the kiss while she met my lips. Best feeling I’ve had so far 😄 (I’m only 15). A week passed along with two more dates and now she barely texts back… I honestly don’t know what I did wrong; maybe she just wanted to have some fun and not a relationship? My friend has a girlfriend for almost 6 months now…

But on the other hand, if everything goes smooth, it is way better, you try to find each one is heat, the winter activities such as ice skating, eating something, also drinking ahjaah, becomes wonderful and unique, and the best part, u can go to the other one is place, to get in heat. • The best dates are when you combine multiple date ideas, you can even change plan's depending on how it goes! For example, each step could be: - start at a bar and talk casually for about an hour - move location to a more active place like bowling, minigolf ... - move from an active place to a more chill bar with mood lights and lounge chairs - depending on the mood, go to a place where you can dance together - invite her to your place for a last drink, Mario Kart, cuddles ... This way you'll have a great night and learn to know each other by being in a lot of different scenarios! If you feel like the dating is going nowhere, just end it after a step, no need to go the entire night.

If the first date is going well and enough rapport has already been built, you could ask them on a whim if there is any movie they currently want to see (and usually there is one). • One aspect that didn't really get mentioned/considered was how much future conversation each date can generate after the fact. It's surprising movies, crafting a lot of shared activities didn't make it to higher tiers when they literally give you and your date something to discuss after the date is done (what parts of the movie you like, what parts of the activity did they find trouble with, etc.) The mall is only really nice if there really are activities besides shopping. A mall date can quickly turn boring if neither of you are impulse buyers and browse around without ever buying anything, but it can build a TON of rapport if you two end up buying matching items.

  • "Do not think, however, that because you have had an experience of recognition that relationship is instantaneous or guaranteed. Relationship is based upon what you can do together in life. The major factor for true relationship is greater compatibility. Greater means that it is larger than the idea of compatibility that is generally assumed. It means that you are compatible in your natures. It does not necessarily mean that you are compatible in your judgments, evaluations and preferences, for these are things on the surface of your mind. Greater compatibility means that the deeper you go together, the greater the resonance between you. (...) Greater compatibility must be discovered through action, time and challenge. Indeed, as you face challenge together, your compatibility grows deeper and deeper. It is not exhausted or eliminated, but it must be supported. This provides the foundation for love to emerge. Relationships of this kind are not common. Do not think you can have them with many people. You can experience recognition with many people, but greater compatibility in physical life is something that is more specific. It has to do with your calling in life, which leads you in specific ways to meet specific people for specific purposes. Your calling is mysterious, yet there is nothing in life that is more powerful, more engaging and more relevant to all of your needs." Hiking is an idea you missed, but living in NYC doesn't really have much of that. I live in CO so that's more popular, as well as an activity like skiing. However those all all high commitment and only after a lot of trust us built. For me personally I find: First date: Dinner with nice atmosphere but still somewhat casual. Second date: Food again, but keep it quicker and more fun so you have time for an activity like minigolf or ice-skating. If you have shared interests like crafting or climbing I say go for it. Third: Zoo, hike, some sort of event that requires more commitment Fourth: Movie, Cooking together, Invite them over And so on

  • I feel like this is a very american centric video, especially when it comes to malls. In many countries it's much nicer to walk around outside in a city, instead of being stuck inside of a mall, just think of Venice, Paris, Amsterdam, ... Also I'm very surprised climbing and festivals/raves are included, and I love it. Outdoor climbing is a great activity when you have the equipment and are climbing with someone who has some experience and know for a while. I did it with my gf some months ago, she's never climbed outdoors and while she was a bit afraid, she really enjoyed it, even when doing easy routes. Raves are great if both of you love the same music. These usually last for quite some time (6h+), so you basically have to take breaks in between, where you can talk and whatnot. Bonus points if both are taking molly, that's gonna bring both of you close very fast lol

    • And as a Brazilian, I can say that beach date is the most common date in more coastal countries, such as Oceania and North American countries.

    • Mall dates are honestly a lot of fun. In America at least where I live they're are a lot of outdoor (outlet malls) with shopping areas, food/snack vendors/food trucks, scenic spots, and play areas.

  • Currently one of my biggest issues is weather. Winter in South Dakota is brutal, being outside really isn't an option.

    • In that case see if she wants to lie down in your bed for a bit. Because most people have lots of Pillows and blankets you can keep warm in the chilly months and since your in bed you can try to insert your body into their body. Definitely s-tier date idea

  • Thanks for the ideas! I've never dated and am excited to get out there. Psychologically speaking, first dates should involve you and the other person facing in the same direction instead of across from each other at a table (too much pressure, like an interview). Any suggestions on ways to gracefully end a first date early when you find your date only talking about themselves? That is what I'm most apprehensive about as a recovering people pleaser :)

  • As a rock climber I will say it’s more of a 6+ dates kind of thing. Especially if you can belay them. Belaying them will give a sense of trust between the two of you, as their life is literally in your hands. It also shows that you can be supportive for them if they are scared of heights or can’t get that far on the wall.

  • My favourite thing to do with my girlfriend is to go for a joyride. Especially in the summer during the golden hours / sunset. Everything looks amazing (including you and your date) in the sunset, exploring roads that you usually Don't travel is great fun, and although you are focused on driving a bit you get to talk to each other and putting on music you both love can be great for conversation. If you have a car, find a spot where you can park and see the sunset that's pretty/romantic and then go on a joyride together ending there (combine it with a picnic from the trunk of your car for bonus points)

  • Great video and ideas! Can you do one for long distance relationships too? I can’t do a lot of these as I’m in a long distance relationship right now.

    • Well you're not really dating if you're already in a relationship, at that point it's already a win and you don't need this video... but if you are still dating, or however that's done over the internet, just.. just abandon it, you might regret later on that you can't see that other person for the next years
