That was a juicy moment for the drama, but I actually hated the prince for exposing something so private and risky to her safety/reputation! He also needs to chill and stop rambling about "my woman" and "you can't have her" like she's his property, eww. The whole wedding scene was so cringe for me, I was cheering for the prince/Rong Le for lots of episodes, but he's so caught up in trying to revive their dead relationship that he's selfishly ruining her reputation and endangering her safety by airing private info...

Well, I went to read the novel, which is supposed to have 127 chapters. That's good, because usually these novels are around 500-1000 chapters and take forever to read XD There are 49 translated chapers, the rest I'm reading with MTL. Overall, the drama is not THAT different, at least up till now. A lot of dramas adapting IP change way more things than this one. Here what things are the same and what not: SPOILERS AHEAD So, the crucial difference, of course, is due to censorship: THIS IS A TRANSMIGRATION NOVEL. It is also a revenge one... only that in a different way these Romance/Transmigration or Reincarnation genres usually do. Because the lead (the female lead) cannot be a transmigrator, a few things have been changed. Another difference is, they decided to make up a BOOK that's sort of powerful like the one of General and I, to be the key for the plot of this first arch. The BOOK DOESN'T EXIST IN THE NOVEL. At least, not yet, and is not the cause why the Princess Ron Le is sent to that Kingdom. For the rest, plots stay almost the same, a few little sequences added, perhaps, due to these changes. More secondary details: Prince Li's mother was also a transmigrator. I presume her plot (that originates a huge revenge mechanism) will stay almost the same, as we've already seen some flashbacks... however, it's important this was changed because PRINCE LI KNOWS AND HE KNOWS ABOUT THE FUTURE THROUGH HIS MOTHER. This is one of the things I find too rushed in the novel: When He starts interacting with "Man Yao" he quickly finds out she's a transmigrator and the overall first conversation is too nonchalant to be believable. ALL THREE MALE LEADS SEEM TO HAVE A HIDDEN AGENDA TOWARDS HER. Not gonna talk about the Emperor's (her brother) one that much, in the drama his principal goal seems to be finding the book, in the novel he just wants her to complete the marriage alliance... however he, indeed, plots from the start to marry her to the General. It wasn't that much clear in the drama, but I guess it stays the same, only that the "find me the book" plot has overshadowed it. The General... still gotta find out his real motivation, both in the book and the drama. In the drama is showed clearly that he knows Man Yao is Rong Le... in the novel, it is not implied. However, something must be off, since he still wants to marry her after the scene we just have at the end of this episode is the same: Prince Li barges into the wedding and proclames she's slept with him. However, in the novel, we skip like a year ahead, Man Yao/Rong Le hasn't been much threatened by her brother to marry the General, she just assumes her duty, a little hurt that her brother lied to her about the true marriage plan, but she refuses to fall for the husband so they haven't slept together. The General keeps trying to seduce her with sweet gestures... but soon we find out that's a trick. He surely seeks something and that is why he wants her to fall for him. He also seems to be resentful towards Prince Li (Wu You). Prince Li (Wu You) has a trauma, connected to his mother's dead. He also has a promise to fullfill, which is not harm/protect the douchebag of the Crown Prince (apparenty CP's mother died to save Prince Li's), and that quite stays the same in the drama. He also has his qi blocked due to something I still don't quite understand... but it is related to him bathing in cold water and also being unable to touch women. He needs to sleep with one in order to unseal that block and reach some "Heart Sutra" or whatever it's called. So, his betrayal in the novel is deeper than what we see in the drama. He is not looking for any book, he plots to make Man Yao fall for him because, the first moment he touches her, he tries to fk her but she refuses, telling him there's no point for her to sleep with a man if there is no love. He uses her to unblock that qi little problem, and she finds out the next morning, when she eavesdrops his brother (9th Prince) conversation with him, so she gets heartbroken, mad, cold... and after some confrontation, she leaves, wanders around under heavy rain, and ends up being rescued by the General. The scenes are almost the same we've seen in the previous episodes, ever since she discovers Prince Li only wanted to trick her to get the book. Prince Li is not that openly in love with her. He's straightforward with her, but he never says he's fallen for her, he just tells her that he'll take responsability for her and make her his wife... and when he sees his schemme has been discovered by her and her cold reaction, he realizes that, perhaps, he's the one who fell first. As for Man Yao, that's her name from her previous 21st century life. She was a rich heiress... that died due to a schemme her step-mother designed so she could get her inheritance. Man Yao is one of the few female leads from Romance Transmigration novels that brings up the fact that nowadays, nothing much has changed when it comes to men treating women as nothing. She points out to Prince Li that the marriage to just one woman is just a status, that poor men seek women outside (brothels, affairs), rich men raise mistress outside. That's implying her father had the mistress from the very beginning, and he neglected his wife and daughter to the extend he didn't even attend her funeral. Man Yao says that rich men use "busy with business" as an excuse to go and meet other women. She is traumatized, because the one who killed her was her own fiancé. So this was the first love betrayal she suffered (and it seems there are 3 more men that have or will betray her). No wonder that when she decides to open her heart again, only to find out she was played as a tool, she decides she won't fall for a man again. She does love Prince Li, but she's too heartbroken and traumatized to forgive or believe him. That's, so far what I've read. I'm at a point where she's met another Gongzi (young master) but they were suddenly attacked. It looks like a trick. She's still married to the General, who seems to have an agenda that involves tricking her into falling for him (again, as I said before), and Prince Li still wants to steal her back... I wonder what will be kept for the drama's next episodes.

I really like this plot. So dense and interesting till now, without unecessary draging. It is a pity that the mein leads dont sho expressive acting skils that undermines the supposed tension and passion. The script howevee delegates modern reactions to the characters inspite of the clasic social context that adds value to livilyhood of the show

I have to say the young Emperor (ML's brother) is my fav character in the story and it really hurts to see these scenes of the ML rejecting him even though she has the right to do so considering what she knows and doesn't know..to those that done know why, you will find out at the end.
