Outside of graphics - Madden 2008 is a better game than Madden 2023 is going to be. Had a real coach mode, had an interactive, fun and deep franchise mode, passing cone which is miles ahead of precision passing and the list just goes on and on.

Better than 23? orobably. I prefer Madden 12 and 14 (titled Madden 25) A deep franchise mode? No. It has the illusion of depth while being painfully shallow. Give me the expanded ratings, player traits, and dynamic player performance, of Madden 12 & 14. Give me the scouting and draft experience of Madden 14. Give me the player progression of Madden 12 & 14. Give me the expanded and custom playbooks of those games as well. I just wish those games played as "tight/responsive/smoothly" as Madden 08.

Loved this generation of Madden. Back in ‘06, would play Race For The Heisman and then you could add your player to Madden and play the same player in Franchise. So fucking cool

Basically the last amazing maddens were the PS2 and 360 era. The last good maddens were the PS3 era. Everything from the PS4 onward, starting with connected franchises in 2012-13 has been dreadfully bad.

I had Madden 12 on the ps2 and it was still a good game. There's this game mode you can play against elemental teams. There's a team where their home field is ice and your guys slip and fall. I can't remember the other teams but that's the one that stook out to me. Its like a secret game mode. I spent so much time playing PS2 Madden 12 back in 2013.

This is actually the year Madden really took a dump. Game breaking bugs that don't let you progress franchise, animation overload, and they took out a bunch of features.
