  • These birds are from Africa, as a child in the Caribbean. I kept them as pets. They will wake you up every morning, and keep the yard bug free. My neighbor had over 40 fat birds. Great cooking!

  • Interesting cooking methods, a step back to a simpler time. Reminds me of Pap and Granny's back in the day. They had guinea fowl; you know the blue are normally dark meat and the white, or pearl, are usually a lighter meat. They make good alarms too. Anything unusual and they will let you know by their loud pot-racking.

    • Mine also. My grandmother did not have an indoor bathroom and honestly did not want one (1960s). I grew up wringing chicken necks, making soap outdoors and using lye soap with her. Had a huge garden. I learned a lot from her and loved every minute of it.

    • Also they are good for ridding your yard of insects. My grand parents had these and they ate any thing crawling worms, ticks, crickets, grub bugs, etc........ We use to call them the cricket and grasshopper assassins
