Stranger Things is, without a doubt, one of the biggest breakout TV hits of all time. The combination of the incredible direction, amazing cast, and compelling storylines make for a perfect TV show. Oh yeah, and the writing is awesome too. But even though it might not seem like it, there is actually a ton of improvisation that happens on the Stranger Things set, and much of what you see in the final episodes was not in the original script! There are so many moments, like the infamous first kiss between Max and Lucas in season two, which Sadie Sink swears was not in the original script, but was added by the Duffer Brothers when they realized how awkward she felt about it! Or the sweet moment between Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard in the grocery store, where Mike is trying to find the right words to tell Eleven he still loves her. Dacre Montgomery who plays Billy went all out getting into character, so much so that he almost broke his skull in a terrifying unscripted moment, and Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton could barely keep it together during a hilarious breakfast scene that was improvised by Brett Gelman. David Harbour has added his own spice to Hooper’s character on more than one occasion, and even the famous Eggos scene was changed on the spot by Millie Bobby Brown! Guys, of course it wasn't Millie's true emotions. Who would allow a teenager to work to that point of exhaustion when she just breaks down like that??? Okay, eleven falling and Mike catching her might not have been in the script, but it was obviously Millie PLAYING eleven. She's just that good of an actress. 🤷

Unscripted scenes are actually better cuz the actors are acting more naturally in them due to it being instinctual reaction. Movies and tv shows should allow the actors to improvise more but not to much to keep the tone, mood, and plot going but just enough to make it feel natural
I know my opnion is in minority, but I didn't like that much humorous tone in Thor: Ragnarok, and one of the major reasons it went that way was because it was improved a lot from what I've heard/read. It has broken especially the image of Bruce Banner for me, as he was acting more like Mark Ruffalo being goofy than what we've seen from Bruce in previous movies. So I agree with you with the balanced approach - some improv can be great addition to the movie, but a proper directing is necessary to keep the right tone.
@@TheBoh5 I mean personally as a comic book reader he actually felt a little bit more like Banner to me, even if the character in the comics isn’t that comedic all the time it seemed to add an extra layer to his character that was missing. Hulk is actually quite funny a lot of the time though in the comics, abeit unintentionally which actually was how it was in the movies so I guess that was kind of perfect. But also I am from New Zealand and that movie was literally our style of humour so That humour was god their to me 😂😂
I was thinking that the scene when Eleven fell on Mike’s arms was so realistic when I saw a video who was speaking about this improvisation and I was like “omg that’s so sad that she was so tired that she actually fell”

I love that scene when Eleven became emotional and collapsed into Mike's arms after the battle with Billy that scene was so powerful, and now learning that part was completely improvised and not in the script at all and that Millie actually became emotional and collapsed out of exhaustion and Mike wrapped his arms around her to comfort her, makes that whole scene even more special

I think they should have really delved into the abuse Billy took from his father. They showed in S1 his father was aggressive and S2 it showed his mother got slapped but I am sure Billy was left with a few black eyes and serious bruises, which would explain his agression.
Billy actually appeared the first time in S2. So its S2 and S3 in which the scenes you describe appear.
One of the best series I've ever seen, but sometimes I feel that child actors were sometimes uncomfortably pushed too far.

If Stranger Things had different cast members I don’t think it would be this popular. I love each and every one of them. They’re all phenomenal actors/actress. I love how they improvise their scenes so that we get their real emotions. All of them deserves an Oscar.

the kiss between mike and eleven in season 2 was not in the script either lol. It was only supposed to be a dance and that’s it but after they shot the snowball scene Millie went up to the duffers and told them that they needed to kiss, the duffers were confused at first but they ended up doing it anyways!!
I guess it's just a rumour Because why would someone so young want to kiss on-screen that too when it wasn't in the script It sounds so awkward and Millie saying she wants to kiss Finn/Mike, I can't really picture that

This entire show just shows how committed every single actor is to there role I honestly hope after this show ends they all get hired into bigger movies/tv shows

They never said that Billy’s mom passed away yet it always felt like it. Billy is playing a 17-18 year old teen. If his mom was alive , he could clearly choose to live with her in California yet he says “ we’re stuck here” to Max in season 2. He is very angry and emotional all the time . I do believe that the show implies that his mom is gone.
I never gave this too much thought.I just assumed he was angry and abusive because thats the way his dad was with him and he didn't know how to love or something 😭
I figured she ran off and went into hiding. Maybe he never went to live with her because he didn’t know where to find her.

But Finn wrapping his arms around Millie to comfort her is so sweet.... Also: Finn not actually sticking to the script and babbling on when confessing his love to El is *super* funny, probably funnier then what the script had said.
It's funny but also adorable.
Eleven stole the show for me. She is the reason I kept watching because I was won over by her in the early episodes. Eleven had me, after her not having a family, parents or home and not even a name, I wanted her to have it all, and she ended up having it all. Best acting I have ever seen.

its really no wonder the sauna scene is my favorite scene in the entirety of season 3 the fact that most of the important/heartwrenching scenes are improvised and real really speaks volumes about these actors' abilities im so excited to see how much better they are in season 4 now that they're all young adults, as if their acting couldnt get any better

Improvised moments can be so powerful because it’s when an actor is so sold out to the character, that they create something authentic.

You could actually tell that was Sadie's first kiss. Look at her face after. Its all over it. I love all these people so much. My 2nd favorite show, by far.
The amount of respect I have for the younger actors in Stranger Things is limitless (and really all children in the acting world). I'm not very big on looking into celebrities lives or anything, but child actors really do go through a lot. I realize the younger cast members are more like 17 - 18 years old now, but yeah. In my own opinion, I know some shows and movies require child actors, but I couldn't imagine not being able to be a kid as an actor. Like you spend 90% of your time with cameras in your face being recorded, you've got to deal with the paparazzi, not giving away too much about your projects you're working on (basically spoilers) because so many fans and talk show hosts put pressure on you. I think a lot of inexperienced actors are given training for how to deal with questioning like that, but still. It's a lot to put on a kid. Though the Duffer brothers and the rest of the crew seem to be accommodating to them and respectable enough. I don't entirely agree with what they did to Sadie (Max) and having her kiss Caleb (Lucas) when she originally wasn't comfortable with it, but other than that. They're a pretty incredible cast and I love the positivity and laughs they share on and off set.
The scene where Hopper (David Harbour) and Grigori (Andrey Ivchenko) fight each other under Hess Farm had another unscripted moment. When Joyce (Winona Ryder) throws Hopper's gun to him, David was supposed to catch it, but it ended up near Grigori. It ended up in the final take.
I legit thought Finn was looking out the hole worried Billy was gonna come back or just pure shock about a massive hole in the wall. Part of me thinks they shouldn’t have been pushed that hard that she literally collapsed from work stress. At the same time I bet she looks back at the final product and is so proud of how that turned out, they’ll should be very proud of themselves. Bc that is one of the best scenes so far in all 4 seasons. Max’s escape from vecna being a close 2nd for me. I just love a tense and emotional scene done well.

He literally was a bitch but once we knew his whole story I felt so bad for him :(
after rewatching the show entirely while waiting for volume 2, some actors really stood out to me for their performances first of all, of course, Millie in season 1. she was just something else, that young and delivered sooooo much. also, she was just so small and cute lol I think a pretty underrated one is Finn. I feel like I really overlooked his performance when I first watched the show, cuz I wasn't super fond of his character, but in season 1 and 2, his facial expressions, him crying, he really got to me and made me emotional. a very specific highlight for me is the scene where eleven finally returns in season 2, his face when he first sees her tells so much. Noah in season 2 is also a highlight for me, for those scenes where he's possessed. the way he moved his body was crazy, made you think he's actually having a seizure or something. dacre on season 3 was actually insane, as the video says. the sauna and his final scene are just too real man. I mean, everyone in this show is at least really good. the kids overall are my favorite part and favorite performances. especially on season 1 when they were such babies and still delivered so much, it's just a delight to see!
the collapsing of eleven was done professionally. mike panicked but he did not lose his character.
Dacre, Finn and Millie are surely the best actors in this cast (depending on how young they just are). Don‘t miss understand me all of these actors Noah, Caleb, Joe Keery, Sadie and just all of them are amazing actors and actresses but these three are just on another level in my opinion.

you are forgetting David Harbour i dont care about the age tbh I think the actor who plays Dustin is way better than Finn, not to mention Suzie (his girlfriend). Millie, David and Dacre were season 3 highlights for me. As for season 4 I think millie, Sadie and of course David Harbour. Season 1 is defenityl Noah's/Millie (all the kids) spotlight. Extra mention for Steve character and Robin's too, i mean I cannot tell any bad actor in this serie :'(

I LOVE Millies real voice Im a Brit and was married to an American so picked up the accent but she so pulls off her accent! She is SOOOO well spoken. The cast of this series are going to be HOT PROPERTY for decades and will go on into MANY MANY more big blockbuster movies and series! THE BEST SERIES that I have seen for about 20 years!

@@uajrh1 because not everyone knows and understands that some, if not most, actors have to “become” the character. And, when they do, it changes them; especially if it’s a genre with something horrific or psycho-related. An example I know of are actors who play DC’s The Joker.
I feel so bad for Billy and Max. Max didn't deserve for all of this to happen. And Billy didn't either. Billy and Max are my favorite character of the whole show. I hope to see them in S4

I just binged it all again to be ready for season 4, and I extra hated Billy this time around, BUT after seeing Dacre’s audition and everything, I really appreciate all he put into Billy as a character. Damn, one of the best things in this series is still the awesome synthwave soundtrack it has. It creats the perfect symbiosis between the real world and the other world as synthwave is even called retrofuturistic music, taking both past and future together. Just great.
