I know it’s been awhile, and I am still impressed by how the creator turned a 4th wall breaking demon to an actual Sonic villain with a proper story.
I like the idea of EX being an in-universe demon rather than a demon from our world just possessing a game cartridge, like “I’m a godlike entity that can cause torment on a planetary scale, might as well use this power to haunt a random SEGA game and mess with a kid in his early teens”

that's a normal thing to not know there's a cave under your base, I was fighting a creeper on minecraft once and it exploded and huzzah, two blocks under the surface there's a friggin skeleton spawner dungeon. There are plenty of reasons you wouldn't find a cave if it's under you.
I have to give it to the programmers: This was really well done. The atmosphere, the sound, the gameplay. Okay the gameplay wasn`t groundbreaking but it was varied. Poor Sonic
Dispite what it looks like in this video, this game is REALLY hard. It takes a lot of skill and memorization. I failed almost every path at least 2 times, not to mention getting the hang of the first tails, knuckles and eggman parts. 1 mistake and boom, back to the start

As far as fan games go, this one is okay. It's not trying to be overly spooky, no random jumpscares and the gameplay is pretty solid.
The no random jumpscares makes it a bit better than some AAA games to be honest.
Well there's 2 jumpscares I think (the first one may not actually happen my memories bad) Both robotnik if you dont escape the lab in 30 seconds you fail and get a jumpscares death. The other one happens if knuckles dies but tails and eggman (obviously) survive. After some gameplay a cutscene will happen and you have the choice to open or keep the vent close if you open he jumps and boom jumpscare. The time I watched a video on all the bad choices that scared the shit out of me

Ok, despite the plot having a _few_ holes, and the grammar being a bit off (which is totally understandable, since this game was translated from Russian, I believe?), this had to be the BEST incarnation of Sonic.exe I've ever seen. First off, the game actually gives you a chance to SAVE the characters, something no other Sonic.exe game has ever done (at least as far as I know). Plus, it's not just "walk right to progress game", but instead gives you levels that can ACTUALLY BE EXPLORED, something I always loved about traditional Sonic platformers. If I had to name any other problems with the game, it'd have to be the mouths moving in text boxes and Sonic.exe's boss forms (though I'm no artist myself, so kudos to the creator for trying). Otherwise, this game looks fantastic, and I honestly look forward to it's sequel.
Likewise and dead on constructive criticisms.
I don't like the game having a plot makes it less scary and makes it less scary when you hear Sonic.Exe's voice because the interpretations are endless. Original was far better and was the best because it was mysterious,dark,demonic,sinister and so damn disturbing in terms of the sickening music and atmosphere not having voices or having hardly any talking sounds at all make it disturbing especially with uneasy music and sounds that will make your skin crawl.
Gru 1444 I would say they are both equal the original has no gameplay though but the original can always be good because this game would not be created in the first place also it’s obvious that this game has more effort then the original because this game took a year or more to create and the original took like probably only a month to create. Sonic.exe Spirits Of Hell turns the original sonic.exe game into a actual game you can’t call the original sonic.exe game a game if it’s just walking to the right. I would also say yes the game has terrible voice acting but there is a option to turn it off also the plot yes it does make it less scary but this game is not meant to be scary it’s meant to a so called normal platformer with a killer enemy who is some what scary I honestly think the scary .exe vibe is getting old so it should change after all a .exe game is just the main character killing the other character so if that’s all why does it have to be scary.
The voice acting gets me. It's really bad. No voices would have made it better. Aside from that, I am perfectly okay with this story based platformer/strategy adaptation of Sonic.exe.
Fire Fox yeah the voice acting is pretty cringy at least you have an option to turn it off.
The effort in this Creepypasta Game is countless, and the players of the game are cultured players

Brad Evangelista i see where you are coming from, that may apply to the very first sonic.exe game game but if you think about it this is obviously not the only one, there are many sonic.exe games that came after the original one but very few of them are actually innovative or at least do something other than walk to the right and jumpscare the player (examples of the latter case being spirits of hell and nightmare beginning) so when i say cliche i’m talking about most sonic.exe games, or most kinds of .exe games for that matter.
