Is The CHEAPEST 35 MPH AWD Ebike Actually Good? Philodo H8 Review
bit.ly/philodo-h8-discount - $1699 for a limited time here (using this link helps support my review)
Ya can't hate the Philodo H8 price, but is there an achilles heal in the formula? The thrill of dual motors propelling you to 35 mph on a fully charged 22ah 48v battery comes with its pros and cons. Going me for todays electric bike ride to learn the good, bad, and the ugly on the cheapest all wheel drive 35 mph ebike I could find under the sun.
amzn.to/3PXSpSV - The Philodo H8 is also available on amazon for a more expensive price than the link at the top of this text
The dual controllers is a unique approach, and while this awd philodo ebike might not be the most polished aesthetic, the benefits cannot be refuted.

Approaching 10,000 miles on mine and still going strong. My dual battery setup took care of the range. I rode 92 miles 1/2 on pas 3 then rode back on pas 4 and still showed 2 bars over the 1/2. I did make some mods like chain ring change and freewheel upgrade. The rest is stock. Overall the bike has been awesome.😀
All those miles on the stock seat post with no rear suspension? That's probably the first thing I'd hafta upgrade, but love the idea of a dual battery setup for it, I'm stuck between one of these and a Roadrunner V2, bout the same max speed and range, only the roadrunner be more compact and easier to take into places with me, but the torque on this bike looks incredible and has me debating
Love your channel because of you I also did the dual battery upgrade and plan on doing more. Almost 600 miles on mine though.

Peace be with you! Your channel is soo much fun to watch! Thank you for reviewing the Philodo. Recently I've learned of an ebike company, E-Street Bikes, who offer high powered ebikes. E-Street Bikes sells 2-Moped Style ebikes, the Street Swiper (Hard tail) and the Tempest Dual Battery (Soft tail). The manufacturer is claiming that their motor - single motor - output is 1500W Continuous 5000w peak (52 V 35A Integrated Speed Controller)! Perhaps E-Street Bikes can ship you a review unit. Thanks again.

i've got The same bike. I changed The crankset and added a single 46t chainring. Had to solder a different kind of pedal sensor because The stock sensor would not fit. I upgraded The Back shifter and derailleur, hotwired The key ignition and connected a way better throttle. I also added a better battery mount and The battery does not wobble anymore while riding. After all of these changes The bike is an absolute BEAST!
I also have had this bike for a few months and was going to take it to my local shop to have some changes made. What kind of battery mount did you use?
@@DropkickDemonI ordered an aluminium bracket from aliexpress that goes under the battery mount, and it has screw holes for the mount. With this bracket you can add 2 tube clamps to make The battery mounting way more sturdy. I had to place the secondary controller behind the saddle, because the bracket added a bit of extra height and lifted the battery up about 2cm. With The original placement of the secondary controller it was quite difficult to remove the battery without fear of bending a battery contact or causing too much strain to the controller wires.

Thanks for the great review, after a couple of years of trying to figure out which one of these things I'm going to get and finally have the money to get it this is it. This fat tire Electric bicycle has a positive 2000/4000 and 5000 review from a guy on KZhead. The only thing that went wrong at 4,000 miles was a reflector came off of one of the pedals. 2-year warranty and supposedly the support is responsive. It's currently selling for $400 off the list price of 1899 dollars with free shipping. The first modification I'm going to get or addition to it is the shock absorber spring seat which he said completely changed his riding experience for the better. I learned that you don't want a rear suspension on an e-bike because even the most expensive rear suspension Monoshock style are prone to worn-out bushings and just wear out from all of the abuse. And it's not just the shock absorber bushings that connect to the frame component it's also the other bushings that are part of the bicycle the frame itself that the shock is not attached to. I'll be honest and say that there are other better looking bikes but for the price and the warranty and the reviews I don't care about the looks. I need this to get back and forth to work.

Good review, thanks!
For those mentioning being able to disable the front wheel. according to Papa Blue Shirt the front motor only engages while using the throttle and uses the rear only in pedal assist. though i never saw this actually demonstrated by turning the pedals with the wheels raised
No, it is back wheel only in pedal assist. And both wheels when using the throttle. I've tested it all out. I can drive around with the throttle using the rear wheel while the front motor is unplugged. Also, PAS is disengaged when using the throttle. I have been driving around in PAS and it would quit working. It has always been that I had my throttle ever so slightly turned. It was enough to kill PAS but not enough to engage motors with the throttle. I would release the throttle and PAS returns after a second or so if I had kept pedaling. I like it like this. I use pedal assist mostly. The 1000w motor handles most everything. Tough hills, fast starts, and dogs are the reasons that I mostly use the throttle(both motors).

Add a speed-based traction control that does not allow the front motor to exceed the speed of the rear by a selectable amount.
If it's the same as the one I rode the pedals only enable the rear motor and the twist throttle works both
i just got mine yesterday, this video doesn't give justice to how big this bike actually is
I totally agree that the two smaller chain rings on the front are pretty much useless, unless your battery dies. Then you might need them just to be able to pedal the bike lol😅 this bike is good for people that live in the desert, and people that live in the snowy mountains.
Also great for those who want to ride on the beach.
Great video, thanks.
@TailHappyTV I think you should do a quick re-review of this bike with controller setting P14 changed from the default 12 Amps which limits both motors to 575 Watts, to either a more reasonable 20 amps (960 watts per motor) which I set my bike to or even 25 amps (the controller rating) which would allow 1200 watts per motor. It might be capable of more but the battery is limited to a 50 amp draw 25 amps from each motor. It won't affect top speed since that RPM limited but should make a difference in acceleration, hill climbing and in sand performance
I may try this when I get all the parts in for the dual battery mod on my "similar" bike (ZEEGR S1). I have mine is currently "de-tuned" to 31 MPH, so I don't stress the single battery pack. But once I have two batteries of 48V 22.4 AH (each) in place, it will be time to bump it back to 35 MPH and higher controller current. The second battery is going to be installed on the luggage rack behind the seat.
Hey thanks for the review 😊 I’m looking for an E bike to ride around Denver in All weather any suggestions???
Triple chain ring, beyond being useless, is bad for using up handle bar and putting +/- out of reach. Non-integrated battery and controllers , bad too. Front one won't last long offroad. You need a motor switch ideally that allows front wheel alone too. Battery is ok. 5 seconds 0-20, maybe 4 seconds with pedalling is a great use of power. You can cut off a lot of traffic with that, and 5 seconds at 2000w is as much power as 10 seconds at 1000w, so you get places much faster, without having to cruise above 20mph to get good range. There are a lot of used bikes that could be modded up into this bike. Once you decide on heavy instead of light, direct drive motors are the way to go. Though I like their balance decisions this bike made. Great review. Loved your hill climb attempts. Definitely shows the value of dual motor (sand performance also due to dual motor mostly). Would have loved to see you try and use that small chain ring to pedal up that monster. A fun, or video, idea for you would be something around that hill. Same or other bikes with pedaling. e-mtb workout fun.
This bike is currently $1360 on Amazon with free delivery
Yeah similar price here in the UK, considering one as an upgrade to my 1000w single motor bike that has lasted 2 rough winter seasons here in the UK and is used in literally any weathers. I have lots of hills on my work commute and it slows down a lot so having dual motors and a larger battery would be nice.

Would the battery last a little longer if you didn't go thru the sand? I wonder how much an extra battery would cost and the time frame for a full charge?
I realized something about the speed cutoffs in the various PAS modes, they're multiples of 10 km/h in mph... 1 is 10 kph, 2 is 20 kph, 3 is 30 kph... etc
I had heard that the rear motor runs off of pedal-assist and the front motor runs off of throttle, is that still the case?
His in house early in video after assembly part, the throttle was spinning both wheels off ground on kickstand.
Correct the front motor only works when throttled
Ive got a very similar bike just under a different brand. And with mine the both motors are on when you use throttle. If you only use peddle assist, then only the rear motor engages. Im guessing its the same on this bike
I have the H8. It is the same as you describe.
@@soonerthebetter2361 On the ZEEGR (similar 2 motor 2kw bike) the front motor will engage as needed if you select "cruise control" and hit an incline.

I think the main theme of awd bikes is that you should have a way to turn down the power of the front hub for launching. I believe the Fabulous bikes have that front power adjustability. But a Fabulous bike you're looking at $2,800
Yes. Needed feature for dual motor type of bike to take off in popularity.
I have one of these bikes , a little less torque in take off would be nice but once you get a mile a hour it takes off and away you go. No spinning of the front tire . I really like the bike but I have no place to ride around my neighborhood ,bad traffic!
@@jeffhagberg6796 that's why I was looking at dual hub folding bikes. Or a powerful rear hub folding bike like the Amp Rides.
When you start from standing still, with just pedaling (no throttle) you will not get launched like a rocket. I also have an awd, and i don't mind it most of the times that the frontwheel spins a little bit. But yes it can be annoying. Also you have to watch out in corners. Take it easy on the throttle.
AWD only engages under throttle, if you are using pedal assist the rear wheel does all the work. Though there is something cool about spinning the front wheel off the line when you twist the throttle in PAS 5
Oh my😮 the rollerskate bikini girl during the break test needed to get a second look on pause.

Noooo
You can turn off the front motor; unplug it. Unplug the controller, it has 2.
The Zeegr has a button on the handlebars for switching the front motor off and on. No need to unplug stuff.
Which one had more power in the sand, this one or the wired freedom?
What reccommendation would you give between this and the Wired Freedom 2024? My main objective is to tow a heavy duty cargo trailer. Thanks.
The H8 has cruise control and you can adjust the power availibility in the program PO8. This bike is not really for pedaling Its like a Caddy if you add a seat shock. Range is about 20 miles full out at 25 to 34.7 mph and hills are climbed easily. the best way to get range and perfomance is to run at 25mph and let your momentum carry you and pulse the throttle to maintain speed and you will get about 30mph. The best way to check your range is by looking at your voltage, a full charge is 54.9 volts and will go down around 42 volts. A full charge coupled with a positive mental attitude will yield much fun!
For range I use PAS 4 while basically ghost pedaling.. carries me at 25 mph using just the rear motor... while more on reserve if i kick it up to PAS 5
Funny question, how close are your feet to the front tire while riding, how would a men’s size 15 be? That has been an issue with other bikes.
I guess you could disconnect the front motor until you think you need it.
Yeah thats what I was thinking. Just unplug it. save juice if not needed. Plug it in if you do. Kind of a pain but it would work.

Does the K800 use the front wheel in pedal assist with the switch on, or only with throttle like this bike?
@@mobilephone4045 the front wheel only works under throttle. Believe me you don't want the front wheel to run under pedal assist, it would be very dangerous.

Could you please do a review of MAGICYCLE 20" TIRE ., VERY UNIQUE BIKE
Hello, can you tell me something about the new KETELES K800pro bike, thank you
Hi I need your help, can you give me instructions on how to set up the display on k800pro, thanks.😊
Can you do an end of year top 5 e bikes?
Can you use it like a normal bike? What if the battery dies mid ride? Can you pedal the bike back home?
Looks like he got it to 4MPH and 7MPH for a brief period on pedal only. You might be okay long enough to get home on flat pavement but it likely won't be pleasant.
I was wondering if you could use a Ryobi 40 volt battery for a backup if the batteries go low. I also would think you would get more range by not going 35 mph. Maybe cut it by 10. 73
wow great bike do agree it need to designed to look more professionally made i mean the canvas cover for the controller looks terrible....peace out
I kinda like the whole DIY vibe of it. Should be very easy to work on and repair, modify, etc.
Thank you
I am very happy with this video I'm sold already lol
Love your videos!! Can you do a video on the GUNAI GN68 Which is my bike @vegasslider
Hi. I thought the duel motor will help climb the hills
This would be a really cool bike if it had a full suspension and a nice comfortable upright riding position ! I can hear the shaking in your voice riding this thing.
They have another model for a couple more hundred dollars with full suspension.
@@dhg1337 Just clicked in the Pilodo web sight, Theres only 2 models offered, the H8 and the cheeper single motor version H7. No full suspension bikes. They do offer an adjustable stem which should help a little with the lousy riding position.
We will release a dual battery dual motor e-bike with full suspension by the end of this year@@robertstewart3086
So this bike is on sale for the same price as the velotric nomad… what would be the better bike?
Anything to save weight would be a bonus
I'm getting two of them
