Hey if you want to support me, you can become my patreon or invite me for a virtual beer:

In this video I restore a wrought iron screwdriver. The antique tool is partially forged. It is very rusted and cracked on several spots. A tool restoration is necessary.
I got it for a small fee on eBay. The restoration includes woodcarving and polishing sequences. It was a lot of fun, but way more work than expected, since I got some route blocks on the way.
I think the result looks somewhat medieval, but see for yourselfs.
Thee beertasting is an oktoberfest special of course!
So I'm happy the project is done and the video is ready. I hope you enjoy my content.

  • It’s really impressing with how many, amazing techniques you gave this Tool a Second life. It’s also really impressing how much you improve your skills vid by vid. Im sure you’ll get the 1M subscribers one day, please keep up with your unique, amazing style! And a big shout-out to your dad, who’s in for the rescue welding! Respect!

  • You have great instincts and the skill to restore. Your dad is probably thinking, "now, son, why would you devote so much time and energy to an old otherwise worthless screwdriver!" Excellent job. I almost bypassed this video (I watch other restoration and repair videos), and this video is top notch. Right up there with the best of them. I am glad your dad assisted in the weld--this was crucial to the restoration. Don't ever skimp on performing quality work in all you do as many others fail to do. I love beer as well. Cheers!

  • I attended the opening day of Oktoberfest in Muenchen in 1995. I witnessed the Tapping of the Keg, then went on to enjoy tasting many great beers, wines, brats, etc. Overall, a great day! The screwdriver you restored is also a hammer... The metal cap on the end of the handle is actually a hammer head. I have a modern version of that kind of screwdriver, except the handle is plastic instead of wood. A great item to have when you're up on a ladder & don't want to climb down to get a hammer.

  • Your video made me happy and sad as my Dad was always there when I needed help and he was a very good welder. He passed away 25 years ago but I still miss him especially when I get stuck on a project. But I have my son and he always rings me when he’s stuck and my normal response is “bring it over”. Now I know how my dad must have felt as it makes me so happy that I’m the first person he turns to and he thinks I can fix anything. It also gives us time together and we get to have a good laugh and talk. Like your dad, I have plenty of my own projects to do but I’m never to busy to help him. You did a beautiful job on the screwdriver especially with the limited tools you have. I know that it took an enormous amount of hours to do but the final result was worth the effort. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

    @keithspencersr.6806@keithspencersr.68063 жыл бұрын
    • Yes yes yes. Like special editions.

      @NTRprojects@NTRprojects3 жыл бұрын
    • I have to disagree, but let me explain first. These old tools were made, because there was need for such a tool (obviously). They were made in such a way that was available back then. When technology changed (evolved), so did the tools. Moreover, tools need to be made according to norms and safety standards. They also need to be price oriented, because most people will buy cheaper one. Most buyers need a tool to make some work, not for it to look good. There's also one other dilemma - 'vintage'ness. When a product become vintage? It need to have some age to it at least. It needs to be made in "good ol' ways"; bonus points if it's hand made. If there's a story behind it, even better. New tools won't be hand made, because that's way too inefficient on a larger scale. Even if you would pre-produce components for it, assembly still would take too long. Such a tool, produced for a large scale, would also be way less desired as a designer piece - by being too common, mass produced and new. Nowadays that's a work for passionates, who will make such tool for order, more as collectibles, yet with usability as well. That's the only way for such a piece to have that "something", what makes it unique. Take "Hand Tool Rescue" wrenches and screwdrivers for example. Those are the tools you and I referring to ;)

  • Der Schraubendreher ist wunderschön geworden. Für mich war es interessant zu sehen, wie Du die "Griffschalen" angepasst hast, damit sie IN den Schraubendreher passen. Saubere Lösung! Gruß Tino
