Stop overpaying for expensive baskets in the store. I’ll show you 3 great and free ideas at once

1) I took a plate, rope, fabric, beads and wire. I’ll show you what a gorgeous thing I made from this stuff.
You will need a base: any plate. It’s good if you have a plastic tray from a flower pot. You also need fabric, floral wire, beads, and rope.
- I cut a circle out of fabric with a diameter 2 cm larger than the plate. I glued it to the top with hot glue and folded the edges down.
- I started gluing a rope from the bottom of the plate.
- I cut a wire 13 cm long, bent it a little and glued it to the side of the plate after about 1.5 cm. In this case, it doesn’t matter what the quantity is: even or odd.
- Next, the rope went over the glued wire, thereby fastening it even more securely.
- When the rope reached the edge of the plate, I began to make turns on each wire. Here you can wind from right to left or left to right. In one case the loops will be on the outside, in the other - on the inside.
- After two rows, I put a wooden bead on each wire.
- Continued weaving to the end.
- The shape of the basket depends on how the wire is bent.
- I cut off the excess wire with pliers and applied a drop of glue to the edges so that it would not unravel.
- I made a braid out of rope and glued it along the edge of the basket.
- The work is done.
A wonderful decorative basket is ready!
2) For more than a year I collected small scraps from sewing and for good reason. I sewed a real cutie for the house from these fabrics and am very pleased with myself.
With the onset of spring I want beauty, I transferred my mood to a basket that I will sew in the patchwork style. There are no exact sizes, I did everything as I went along.
- First, I collected all the cotton scraps and cut them into 12x4 cm strips.
- Next, I sewed them, first 2-3 pieces each.
- I immediately smoothed out the seams. Then the resulting blocks were placed one on top of the other, aligned on the sides into one strip.
- If you attach one strip, then another, and so on one by one, then the finished strip may bend towards the end of the work.
- In order for the fabric to keep its shape when finished, I used two layers of yarn. I placed the sewn piece on the flannel and stitched, or rather quilted, along the seams.
- For the side parts of the basket I took gray linen. I cut out two rectangles 26x18 cm. I also placed a yarn over it. I drew the fabric in diamond shapes and along the quilting lines.
- Rounded the corners.
- I cut out a bunny from the fabric and sewed it to one side with a zigzag. At this stage, you can do embroidery or other embellishments here.
Compound:
- I placed the striped stripe on one side of the basket and secured it with clothespins. I made notches in the curved areas of the strip. I stitched these parts together.
- I sewed the second side panel in the same way.
- For the handles, I cut out 6x9 cm rectangles from linen. The result was these blanks.
- I folded them in half and sewed them to the basket with buttons.
- I sewed the lining in exactly the same way.
- I put the lining in the basket, straightened everything out and stitched both parts.
- To finish the edge I used a strip 4 cm wide.
Any needlewoman will find something to put inside the basket. Yes, even the same beautiful fabrics from which similar cuteness or other pleasant little things will be sewn.
It was very interesting to sew this thing; a whole product is created from a heap of scraps. I received incomparable pleasure from my work. Now the basket pleases the eye and lifts your spirits.
3) I don’t buy expensive baskets in the store, I make them myself. And for this you need a box of equipment and burlap.
I used a multicooker box as a base.
To make the box more durable, it must be prepared and adjusted to size.
- First, I cut off the excess cardboard to make the desired height.
- I cut out 4 sides of the basket from corrugated cardboard to make the product stronger.
- I glued the cardboard to the box using PVA glue.
- I glued the corners with paper, and also glued the bottom. After this the box became rigid.
- The lid will be attached to the box, measure as needed and add 8cm to the fold.
- I glued the lid to the basket with strips of fabric on both sides.
- Now the decor.
- First, I covered the lid with burlap on both sides.
- Then I cut out a suitable piece from the bag and stitched the missing width.
- I also glued the fabric to the box.
- I left it inside as is, I have baskets with covers inside. But when you use them, they slip and shift, and you have to adjust them all the time. That’s why lately I’ve been leaving the cardboard inside the basket as is, it’s still not visible, but it’s convenient to use.
- The basket will have handles.
- I made holes with scissors and threaded a rope through it, tying knots.
The spacious designer basket is ready for use.
