Colours Ultimate uses Hedgehog Engine with Godot. This potential Heroes remake could just be Renderware running alongside Unreal Engine.

@@SFproductions1 I wouldn't rule it out just yet. A good recent example is the GTA Definitive Trilogy. The original GTA games on PS2 used Renderware, and the new Definitve versions are using Unreal Engine 4. From what I understand, what the devs did was basically use Unreal 4 to translate the code from the old engine to the new. So internally, the games are still made and function as if they're using Renderware. Not a programmer though, so the explanation might not be the most accurate lol We'll have to wait and see how things go either way.

Well luckily we are getting a remake.
The only reason why Sonic Heroes had mixed reviews was because they didn't address the problems of prior Sonic Games, such as camera and voice acting. all i can say is, Sonic Heroes was a commercial success, not a faliure though.
I would just really like to play some of the older Sonic games like this and Riders on Modern hardware. I honestly hate having to use emulators so I can a game because the developers have never rereleased it. I’m glad I got to play Colors through Colors Ultimate. I was really hyped for that game before release, and after playing it, I can say that it’s my favorite Sonic game (or even favorite game for that matter). I know many people either hate Colors Ultimate or don’t care about it, but I honestly love it. Consider it a guilty pleasure of mine…
You need to get Colors on Wii. Ultimate would have delivered it better if it didn’t blow up in Blind Squirrel’s face.
It must suck a lot being a Sonic fan who grew up in the 2000s watching most of the games you played back then never being ported to PC or modern consoles. It's me, I'm fans who grew up in the 2000s
I'm not sure Renderware would be the biggest roadblock. Asterix & Obelix XXL was developped partially with Renderware and that didn't stop this game from getting a remaster in 2020, from an editor that isn't famous for paying its dev teams very well or giving them enough time, so a partnership with big EA would have been out of question. And yeah, while that Remaster had its own main engine + remaster engine running together, there are still some uses of Renderware assets.
Persona 4 was also done in Renderware yet P4G got a remaster

The thing about Sonic Colors Ultimate is that it's a weird amalgamation of a remake and a remaster with how it was developed. If Sonic Heroes was *fully* remade, it would probably turn out way better.

Despite what you really said, the mixed reception doesn't necessarily involve anything. Sonic Unleashed also got mixed reviews, yet it can be re-release. Yes it was re-released, but on the modern Xbox Consoles via Backwards Compatibility.

As much as I Love this game, it's unfortunate that the chance of Heroes getting a proper Remaster or Port without SEGA simply Emulating the Game is as rare as it is. Despite it's mixed reception in this Fanbase, I still believe that it deserves a chance, especially for the Newer Fans that never got to experience this Game. I don't know. Sonic heroes has the best zone themes of any 3d sonic game, the potential for a colorful and fun remaster is actually crazy
sonic adventure 2 comes close sonic heroes is number 1 and sonic adventure 2 comes in second for top best level themes.
People forgot the biggest reason of why a Heroes remake now is so unlike to happen, story/continuity Let me explain: Sega and Sonic Team are in a mission, a mission to atract new fans to the games and lore of Sonic, if they are making remakes, they probably are going to make remakes to the prequels first: Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, and theeen they would make a Heroes remake so that, the new fans would follow correct order of events, cuz if not, new fans would not understand why Shadow was found in the Eggman's lab for example, in my opinion they will first make a pack of the 2 adventure remakes (they should really call in "Sonic Adventures" I think is a genius idea for the name)
A big example that Sega is trying to teach new fans of the Sonic lore is Sonic Origins, they don't just added the animated cutscenes just to be pretty and cool, they added these cutscenes so then people would understand and follow better the story and continuity of the classic games, that's why they also added Story Mode, so new fans would follow the story the way if happened

That would be smart! Remaking SA1, then SA2, then (a hopefully massively improved) _Shadow the Hedgehog_ followed by a _Sonic Heroes_ remake. If they have the courage, they could also remake _Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood_ and restore its status to canon. There have been quite a few games that ran on Renderware which have had ports, remasters, remakes, etc. in recent years. A few examples being SMT Nocturne going to Unity for its remaster, Persona 3 and 4 both ran on it originally, but were changed for their portable versions which were remastered recently, Battle for Bikini Bottom and the GTA games going to Unreal. I'm no developer, but it seems clear that a team can rebuild a game in a new engine. I don't believe Renderware is really much of an obstacle. Even disregarding Renderware, there are many other games that were rebuilt in different engines like Crash and Spyro.

Never played Heroes I just never got the opportunity which is why, even if the game isn't great, it would still be good for a remaster for players like myself who want to experience it. I know it was a really successful game, financially speaking, and I could see some incentive there but I agree it might not get remastered. And if they do hopefully its not just emulation but at this point who knows.

If they are gonna build a new engine for the remake series SA1, SA2. Then making Sonic Heroes will become possible. This is the only game to ever sell the most copies of any Sonic game till Sonic Frontiers came out. So that’s enough of a reason for Sega to remake it. Also the bugs and gameplay issues that where in this game would all be fixed or changed for the better in the remake. So regardless what people thought about the old Sonic Heroes will not have those same feelings for the new one till they see the new gameplay footage. So I genuinely believe there is a high chance for a remake of Sonic Heroes. Since it makes the most sense as a business stand point as well
I wish I could say I was hyped for a Sonic Heroes remaster... when I was fourteen, I was extremely excited for its release (even using an online forum for the first time to discuss it) but after playing through it, it took my YEARS to want to re-play it. It's got some fun levels and cool music, but having to complete it as four teams makes for a numbing experience where its flaws REALLY start to grate your nerves (especially the characters NEVER shutting up - good Lord.)

It's not uncommon to change engines when remastering games, even more common if they're remade. Also, having mixed reviews haven't stopped Sega from re-releasing games, just look at sa1 and 2, and they're still on steam despite Sega's claim to delist bad and mediocre Sonic games.
Many claim the Adventure games to be among the best in the series. They got great scores back in the day & Sega knows that they will get tons of complaints if they delisted them as they are still quite popular. Also what Sonic games were delisted from Steam other than 3K for Music Reasons?

And that is the thing, they have not delisted any mediocre or bad Sonic games, yet the delisted the very best in the series, not just s3k, but 2, 1 and cd! They removed the best games, yet trash like sa2, lost world and Forces are still up. So, Sega evidently does not care whether someone gets upset over the removal of a game from steam.
@@snakey888 Oh yeah the scummy tactic to increase demand for Sonic Origins was a thing last year. Sonic Adventure 2 wasn't trash, it's easily within the Top 5 Sonic Games. I don't get how you can defend raw Sonic 1 yet insult the Adventure Games. For some fans Adventure is comparable to what Unleashed is for the 3D Boost Fans. Adventure 2 Battle to us was what Generations was for them. There is still demand for a return to what the Adventure Games had after all these years such as the Chao Gardens & Playing as multiple different characters in full 3D with awesome stories.
@@WaterKirby1994 The problem with sa games, especially sa2, they removed so much of what made Sonic great; big sprawling levels with plenty of interconnected paths are replaced with linear corridors, momentum gameplay and great physics are replaced with automated scripts and spammable spindash that is no better than boosting. And the majority of the game plays nothing like a Sonic game instead consisting of mind numbing gameplay like treasure hunting, mech shooting or fishing. Those issues are reasons why many fans dont want those to return. Does not help that the modern Sonic games, like Forces and Frontiers, continue to reuse several of those issues. Sonic 1 on the other hand, has none of those issues. Yeah, it has some bad levels like labyrinth or marble zone, but overall it is a pretty good game.

Sonic Heroes was the 1st Sonic Game on either an Xbox or PlayStation console so it does have a significant legacy & there are many who are nostalgic for Sonic Heroes. Yes we're probably just going to have emulation of it, although is that really any different from what Mega Collection & Gems Collection did back in the day? As for Sonic Colors that was a game praised by a crowd who didn't like what Sonic was during the 2000s & as the 2010s continued opinion on the game deteriorated. By the point of Sonic Colors Ultimate, Colors was seen as the start of the despised Meta Era!

You can play sonic heros on Xbox series consoles if you buy the game disk
Emulating would absolutely require other companies to get involved. Sega doesn’t have a GameCube or PS2 emulator just sitting on a hard drive they can use without licensing it. If they go to Nintendo for their emulator, it would likely be a Switch exclusive, same thing with Sony. Microsoft doesn’t even do backwards compatible games anymore either so emulation isn’t an option unless they can convince the Dolphin developers to help. But who knows if Nintendo would allow that on Switch? Sega can do what Rockstar did and bring Renderware into UE4. It’s not gonna be pretty or easy, but it’s most certainly possible.
A remake and a remaster are two different things. A remake doesn’t use the source code while a remaster does.

You might call me crazy but I don’t mind getting heros a remake on a different engine because 3 reasons 1. Sega might learn from there mistakes 2. It could have just been the engine they used for sonic colors ultimate was glitchy so they can just use something else 3. I never ran into a single glitch on sonic colors ultimate so idk if the switch version is patched or if people are trying to break the game to call it bad or what

It seems like you missed my point entirely. Emulation for REMASTERS is bad because at that point, it's not actually a remaster. It's just an emulated version of the game on old hardware. It's a scummy thing to do to charge full price for an emulated game with enchantments when you can easily find that elsewhere for free
@@SFproductions1 well the alternative is a buggy port, honestly if a game is emulated people mostly don't notice, sonic jam was built from ground up and worked natively but sonic mega collection was emulated, there is virtually no difference for the average consumer. By your logic something like sonic 3 A.I.R isn't a remaster because it's emulation(and yes i know that it's a fan project)

I dont know why people were all up in arms when 3D All Stars used emulation - the games ran well, looked great, and any issues they did have were patched fairly quickly. They even cleaned up a lot of the rougher looking textures and upscaled the HUD elements and the games looked great! I dont see the issue here, whether they use the original source code or not, we still get a perfectly playable product that looks nicer than on original hardware. SM64 wasnt 60fps but should anyone really care? The game was released in 1996, and while 60fps would look nice, its not a necessity. I dont understand why so many people are picky about framerates. This just goes to show that a lot of the naysayers are just whiners. I would be perfectly happy if they used a bit of emulation for a Sonic 3D Collection. For games that don't have a modern port like Heroes and Shadow, that would probably be a necessity for any rerelease to be done in a time efficient, cost effective manner. A remaster would likely have more issues than straight up emulation anyway. And it's not like we don't have a PC Port of Heroes for them to use; I mean, the XBOX 360 and PS3 port of SA1 had to come from somewhere, and if I'm not mistaken, Sonic Heroes DID get a re-release - a PS3 port released only in Europe and was reportedly not based on the PS2 version, but instead that very same PC port. Unfortunately I think it was delisted from the PS3 store, so that and the fact it was only released in Europe means it went largely unnoticed.
sonic adventure 1 and 2 most likely might or might not get a remastered because of the roblox game making new models of the og adventure models.

We don't need ANY remasters. Playing these games through emulation is the most perfect way to experience it. Dolphin is literally the best. You can play Heroes in widescreen AND at upscaled resolutions. The only thing a remaster would add is some small extra content. Playing this on PC for years and couldn't be happier.

I don't think the Renderware argument is really a great one, tbh, the name "renderware" kind of gives it away, it's primarily the graphics engine and there's plenty of better graphics engines they could use. It's one of the first things you do with a remaster., so saying it's not cost effective is just saying doing a remaster isn't cost effective. "But Colours Ultimate did it bad" isn't really an argument either, one buggy port doesn't mean they shouldn't try. In fact it may be easier to remaster Sonic Heroes than port it.

A good amount of bugs actually come from them porting a Wii-exclusive game specifically. A game that not only was made for multiplattform but also already is on PC(even if the port sucks) should be a lot easier to take care of.

I've basically done as you said with the old PC port and it's fun to relive those childhood memories. It kinda sucks that the only way to play this game on a modern system is by pirating the PC port and modding it as i would gladly spend money on a more proper modern port, but i suppose that is yet another reason to hate EA in case the world didn't have enough of those.

Yes, SEGA did take off Sonic games that were looked down unfavorably off the market HOWEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... after the success of Sonic Origins the people in charge of Sonic Team DID say they were looking to port more games. I never expected Sonic 3 to come back, but SEGA was willing to jump through hurdles to release that. If emulation is the way to go, then I'm sure they'll do it? I can see them releasing Adventure, Adventure 2, and Heroes in one package with Heroes being the selling point (similar to 3 and & Knuckles). That said, I do think there's a possibility of them working with EA? What do I mean well... sit with me for a second. Aside from them doing 3 & Knuckles, SEGA is also attempting to bring back the Sega Saturn for a mini and the programming is trickier over there. They also showed interest for giving the Dreamcast the same treatment as the Mini Genesis. I'm sure if they're willing to do THAT then the EA thing (should they take that option) isn't that far from reality. I mean if a small dev like Suda51 managed to get the rights for Shadow of the Damned back for a tiny game like Travis Strikes Again... then. I wouldn't be surprised if they go all HD. Will it be good? Probably not. None of their re-releases have been quality... but I do see them making an effort. Oh yeah... and they also dumped a bunch of those subpar Game Gear games on Sonic Origins and used that as a selling point so like...

Whatever remaster or remake that comes out i will take it maybe but like i never played Sonic heroes despite being a decent Sonic game the controls are bad.
I hope they bring back Sonic Heroes by any means necessary.
I lied sonic colors ultimate but when people pointed out the bad things I really saw it omfg so bad it triggers me soooo much. I loved the game but ever since i know abpout these problems I can't look at it anymore. Its still such a cool game but some of the graphical stuff is so bad.

0:38 just get good bro. Anyways, reagrdless of the engine, I think as long as they learn from the mistakes of Colors Ultimate, then a Sonic heroes Remake Remastered would be great. It would fix the issues this game had and it would give a new appeal for fans that never grew up with this Sonic, which is even better because of Sonic Frontiers. Show the kids who played the Meta Era games who Sonic really is and Sonic Heroes is a perfect game to demonstrate. That and the Adventure games too. And also Unleashed. Also port Unleashed on the PC
