I decided to do this video because my last siliconing video bit.ly/34b3O85 didn't properly cover how to silicone corners.
The trick with siliconing corners is to start with the vertical wall-grout line and let that bond (I actually left mine to bond overnight). After bonding Cramer recommend working on the floor-grout starting out of the corners in both directions, but I prefer to start just off one corner and then continue all the way around the corner in one continuous motion. That way you get a lovely clean corner and because you let the vertical silicone joint to go hard, you don't interfere with or damage the vertical line when you draw the tool around the corner.

@Payney84 Thanks. Glad you found it useful! The red one has gaps that you can fit the black sled to, which enables you to drag it over transverse (vertical) grout joints without the tool getting caught in each grout line, keeping the silicone joint nice and smooth.
Is working when you apply plastic from glue gun as well?
Hi I was wondering if you are living in London for work ?
Hi. Great video. I’ve tried many tools for removing old silicone. I agree that a Stanley knife is no good. I looked online for a knife with a flexible blade to get parallel with the surface in the corner. In the end I found the best thing to use is a fish filleting knife. They bend so you can get right in without scratching. You can also re sharpen them with a steel.
I'm 70 years old and have applied sealant countless times using various methods. I watched your video, paying particular attention to your research arguments. They made complete sense. I purchased a Fugi kit and followed all your advice on using it. I can honestly say that I have never done such a good job. Thank you
So glad to hear that Dave. I was the same as you before I discovered the tool. Thanks for getting in touch and being so honest with your experience 👊
Every detail covered without a bit of wasted dialog. Many WRONG techniques debunked. The heart of a dedicated teacher. Thank you.
Thank you! When we moved into our new (old) home 20 yrs ago I hired a handyman to re-caulk all the bathrooms and they looked beautiful just like this. I have never seen another handyman that could do it so perfectly so I decided to get on KZhead and learn how to do it myself. Thank you very very much!
You're very welcome. You'll achieve perfect results with this tool. 👍
Growing up without a father to teach me these skills I appriciate greatly that I am still able to learn.
Growing up with a father, still didn't teach me caulking lol
Fathers these days lack caulking skills anyway
@@yankis. yepp. me too, LOL
Fox!
@@yankis. Did you ask him to ?
Clear and to the point with no distracting background music or superfluous flannel.
Hi there am a bathroom fitter and I could say your advice to DIY people is better than the average bathroom fitter. It's the finishing that gives any new renovated bathroom that unique look. This guy is showing you lot the perfect way to silicone do it his way and you can do it for living.
Wow, thanks mate, I really appreciate that. I always think it takes great character for a pro to big up a DIYer like me. I suspect you're conscientious yourself and do a damn good job! Thanks again!
Not sure telling a customer they have to wait 24 hours to finish the grout though
The Best and Complete ever How To and how not to video on siliconing the corners. Absolutely perfect video, thanks! five Oscars from me!
Aw, thanks mate 🙏👊🏻
I’ve been a decorator for 30 years and I’ve always cut my caulk/silicone nozzles at a 45* angle. After watching your video I’ve realised I’ve been doing it wrong for all these years, and I’m now getting perfect results. Many thanks and great videos👍👍
Great to great from you. I love it when a pro is interested in innovating and learning new stuff - I personally think it puts them (you) in the top bracket of the profession 👍 Also, massively grateful you got in touch, as I've been convinced for a while that cutting the nozzle straight is more effective, but it's great to hear feedback from someone else on this point. Thanks again 👍👏
You are a legend. After twenty years of doing almost all what not to do tips in your first video on chaulking, and feeling insecure on re-siliconing my bathroom, i can now go to sleep, waking up like silicone - man, the new and improved DIY Hero! Thank you so much. These tips are a life saver!
You're very welcome Wesley. Thanks so much for getting in touch. Really pressed you're embracing the new technique 👊🏻
This guys advice is amazing. I did a near perfect job of applying silicone as he advised. It seriously look neat and was easy to do. Made me feel confident. Sometimes the best teachers are the non-experts because the experts just carry on doing what they’ve always done but others re-evaluate ways of doing things with evolving technology and tools. Well done mate. The best silicone application video ever. And buy from his links in the description.
I've just chanced upon this. Thanks so much for the comment and I'm so pleased you did such a good job!
Charlie, your videos are absolutely brilliant! You explain everything clearly and concisely and then go on to demonstrate using excellent videography. You have addressed everything that I have had issues with in the past in your earlier video, and now you've shown how to deal with corners and uprights in a very comprehensive and straight forward manner, using the best tools for the job. I have now ordered the shaping tool you demonstrated and look forward to completing my shower installation having followed your tuition. Keep making videos....please! Your explanations are exactly what I need and following your example makes DIY a joy and not a chore. Thank you so much.....your efforts are genuinely appreciated!
Hi David, I can't thank you enough for that comment. It's a long old process getting these videos out, not to mention fitting them around family life!! I'm working on one at the moment and I've been editing for more than 2 days, so you have no idea how valuable you're kind words of encouragement are. Don't worry, the videos will keep on coming, just at the moment they're not quite as regular as I would have liked!!
I've seen a ton of tile, caulking, grouting videos, and yours is by far the best I've seen. From your methods, including "minor mistakes", to your tool usages and recommendations, to your focus on perfection (though you do not talk of this), Well done, superb instruction and explanations. Thank you.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate that and am chuffed you found my vid useful 👊
Love all the detail you give. Thanks.
Thank you Charlie for this amazing tutorial for other fellow OCD sufferers. I'm not being sarcastic, your in depth explanation and procedure helped me solve a 20 year conundrum in my sons shower. I followed your instructions and it looks perfect.
Hi Charlie, brilliant tips and thanks for demonstrating the new tools.
Genius! Just watched your two siliconing videos Charlie and you've set me up for life. Thank you. I'v been in the building game for 40 years and can't agree more about cutting the nozzle at 90 degrees and pointing it into the joint.
So good to see this video as I have a fair bit of sealing to do and also now know how to use the tool. Just ordered the kit 5 and hopefully get a good finish.
Thanks Charlie, some great gems of advice in this; glad I watched before tackling our shower soon.
Best videos out there by miles! Would recommend to anyone before they start a diy project. Thank you Charlie!
Great info and clear demonstration, thank you.
👏🏻 nice one. I always have trouble on corners.
Charlie your videos make the most sense out of all the silicone vids I've watched. Great tip for corners to do one continuous move into and around the corner - thanks.
If only the "professionals" who did my bathroom and kitchen knew about this. Beautiful stuff, and thanks for the tips!
You're welcome Ben, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately they tend to be a stubborn bunch!
God bless KZhead :D This Cramer kit with attached guides blows my mind :) I've been looking for such a solution for a long, long time. Thanks mate!
You're welcome Marcin 👍
Great video again with some fab tips. I bought the profiling kit 5 on the basis of your video and got the scraper in the kit as well.
Awesome work on the videos Charlie. Keep up the great work. Regrouting and resealing my shower next week, your videos have been incredibly helpful for a beginner DIY’er like me. Cheers mate.
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos always learn from them
Thank you for this great video as well! I appreciate you letting me know about this one. NOW I’m really ready to tackle my shower fix!❤️. This is brilliant!
Cheers for adding this video geezer. 1st video was really good and informative. But been struggling with corners until now. Top bloke 👍
Great video Charlie, Thank's for the share, trouble you have with silicon is the waste when you are using more expensive silicons CT1 etc, have a nice day !!! .
Bravo! 👏 Thank you for your commonsense and thoughtful knowledge. I've watched your videos a couple of times to clarify some difficult areas of sealing. I purchased the Cramer 7
Thanks Charlie, more top siliconing advise. Bought the Kramer profiling tool kit and actually came out pretty good for a first attempt. Just struggled with the corner, should be fine now after this vid. Keep up the good work.
Great and informative video Charlie very helpful. Thank you.
Must admit I have always been a wet finger doer until I watched this and had my eyes opened !! cheers and will use the tool from now on, great results.
Nice One Charley , Good and Concise Video as Usual, Your Videos are always Clear and Understandable, Very Easy to Follow. Thanks Mate 😁👍
Simply great. Winning formula for your vids Charlie - thanks for sharing how do it properly! Much appreciated 🙂
Learnt so much from watching your videos on siliconing the last few weeks! Thanks a lot for sharing
Big thumbs up from the states Charlie DIY👍
Great advice - bought the tools you recommended and all worked well. Thank you.
So glad to hear that Paul. Thanks for letting me know.
Jesus! Wish I’d seen this yesterday. Awesome work dude.
Thanks Marcus 👊
Excellent video. Thanks Charlie
Cheers Charlie for the video. I seen the B@Q one last week, cheap for a profile, should be good for test run before getting the cramer. 👍👍
Dude you are awesome.. Really helpful and great for people like myself who find some of these tasks quite tricky. As you say , practice makes perfect!
Thanks for this, I have made several poor attempts at removing and resealing our shower trays in the past. My efforts have been pretty poor. This video has improved my standard of work considerably. Thank you
You're welcome. Glad it worked and thanks for the comment. 👊
Love your attention to detail fantastic video
I've tried, and tried and tried. Every time an unmitigated disaster. Back to the finger...... Perfect every time.
Were you using the Cramer tool... ?
My late husband would drag his tool full of "silicone" across my crevice and leave a perfect "bead" every time. What a lover!
hahaha! 😂😂😂😂
Just so happens I’ve got a full tube to spare.
Thank you so much! I have been doing it wrong for years!
Your video is 100 times better than any others. Funny enough I watched your previous one but glad to have seen this one today thanks!
Thanks Trevor, I really appreciate that, and I'm glad you found this vid as the other one didn't deal properly with corners 👌
Thank you for your video. You are the first and only which I truly understood how to use those tools
Chanced upon your vids today ahead of attempting to reseal our professionally installed (and taped!!) en suite shower. Have already ordered the fugi kit and looking forward to doing the job now. Excellent videos 👍👍😎
Brilliant, thank you. I got myself a profile kit a few weeks ago which has been awesome on the couple of jobs recently. However, I’m excited about a re caulk of a bathroom and kitchen job I have on tomorrow after watching your videos 💪 I’m constantly learning and trying to improve my work, and videos like yours are invaluable resources! Legendary
So glad to hear that Gillian, thanks for letting me know. If you've got corners to do check out this vid if you haven't already kzhead.info/sun/eKmrktmnm3-FdIU/bejne.htmlsi=H5QajZahJfoM39WL 👊
Superb video, followed your tips and replaced the silicone in my shower with ease, confidence and a perfect finish. Have done this job a few times in the past and each time have had problems using other techniques. All of your tips make doing this job simple especially the corner tip. Look forward to more videos.
This guy , thanks in advance for my future bathroom project!!
Thanks. Incredibly clear and thorough!
You're welcome. Thanks for the comment, James!
Superb video. Clear, informative and well explained. Very helpful and very well shot too.
I love that you have such high standards. Shame some flooring professionals either don't have the desire to learn such techniques or care to adopt them.
Thanks - I really appreciate that 👍
found this video very informative and useful well explained having the profile tools with a practice gives the professional finish.
You saved me tons of silicone for training, thank you very much!
Thanks for the video, I have found the fugue kit can make the work surface a bit mucky. But I have to practise more to improve the quality of finish. Thanks again the new extra kits look great.
Just the type of video I have been searching for. Great presentation!
Thanks, glad you found it useful.
Thank you, very much Charlie, this is the best approach I have been looking for. You helped me a lot! Exactly as you did I did my kitchen silicone and its perfect now. I trained the corner siliconing many times on the corner model - I think at least about 50 times, until I fully understood the procedure but I was rewarded by a good result. Thank you again, the best video!
Great info. Better vid even than the previous. So glad I saw this because I bought the Cramer kit 7 straight away from Amazon. I’ve finally found the solution to not using my finger! I tried masking tape before, and it looked really neat, but I got that tiny lip that was left as per the previous video. Thank you so much for blasting the idea of using water and washing up liquid, or white spirits. Although they work, your video made it so obvious that water and white spirit could get behind the silicone without you knowing. Fantastic, keep it going as these videos are really informative.
wow thank you for this advise i subscribed to you and bought the profile kit amazing advise u have always had a problem with silicone until now
*** Excellent video *** I wish I had seen this before I tried to silicone 2 corners in my kitchen. I struggled a bit but your way seemed a lot easier. Thank you.
Top man, top job, great explanation.
Very helpful video for the silicon mess applied to my new build. I’ve now got the kit and knowledge to remove and redo. Cheers.
Great work Nick. Time to undo the botch job. Let me know how you get on.
This is one of the best caulk videos out there. Great job.
Thanks Steve 👍
These really are a game changer! After watching this vid I purchased some cheaper versions off net and can’t believe the results.
Glad to hear it. Good work 👍
Nice video fella. Nice touch showing corner joint
Excellent videos and advice Charlie just what I needed, many thanks
You're welcome Graham. Thanks for the comment!
Superb advice 8:20mins 👍👍
Thanks Mark 👊
Another excellent and helpful video! Thank you Charlie!!
Awesome. Thanks for the tips Charlie..
Hi Charlie. Great informative video as always. I've purchased this cramer kit after watching this. Looking forward to using it. Keep up the good work
Thanks, I appreciate that. You won't be disappointed! Good luck and let me know how you get on
Thanks Charlie, really helpful video, intend purchasing the Profiling Kit. There is one thing that I have learnt that works really well, after I have put the Silicon on and it has dried, I put a waterproofer on, this reduces any mold for years, do the same with grouting and has the same effect.
Really helpful! I'm about to start siliconing our shower. I've got the Cramer kit, and I now see how to use it! Especially grateful for the tip about the spray bottle. Mine is now going to the recycling bin! I've also subscribed to your channel. Thanks again
Hi there. Massive thanks for subscribing and good luck with the siliconing. You'll do a great job with all this kit!
I Really appreciate you explaining how to use these profile tools, what a game changer! Bravo on a great video 👏👏
Thanks Justin. Really appreciate that 👊🏻
Top man, top tips! Subscribed !
Thanks Charlie. I've been doing a lot of DIY lately and I've got 3 go-to channels on KZhead that have become absolutely invaluable. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. You've saved me from ballsing up my tiles! 😁
Curious what your other two are!
Hi Charlie, thank you so much for this video. I’ve been stressing about how to properly reseal our bath after having a screen replaced and now I’ve done the vertical first to cure over tonight. Tomorrow I’ll finish the job with confidence thanks to your tips. Top gent.
You're welcome. Good luck finishing the job and thanks for getting in touch. 👊
@@CharlieDIYte seems to have done the job 🤞🏻 I realised afterwards that I didn’t fill the bathtub with water like some suggest, does this matter much in your opinion? It’s not a new tub, been in place for at least 7 or so years I reckon.
Well done Charlie, I am loving that technique. I haven’t tried it yet but your a great demonstrator and I know it will work for me too.. Have a good weekend mate.. 👏👏👏👏👍
Thanks Tom - I really appreciate that!
Great video. I love the way you explain things....it makes so much sense. Silicone jobs are the bane of my life but your way looks so easier and sensible...thanks a million
You're welcome Harry. Thanks for the comment!!
Thank you so much for posting this video… it really helped me out big time… very much appreciated 👍😎
You're welcome David. I'm chuffed you found it useful and thanks for letting me know. 👊
I have never siliconed and I believe these videos by Charlie, are the most believable and trustworthy, for excellence. I hope to report back upon completion of my project(s).
Thank you Charlie. Your corner technique of doing the vertical joints first, and letting them dry overnight is awesome. It taught me so much. Then the warning that by spraying the silicone before scraping, will leaved gaps! Brilliant. As a matter of fact it is so good that I am going to send this video to my son! He lost his dad when he was only 15, and now that he is 25, he has started working in the Trades. Awesome lesson and a beautiful job.
Thanks, so glad you found this usual and really appreciate the comment 👊
This has been useful as I often end up faffing corners to make them look right. And the extra info for tools for behind taps.. excellent. You wouldn't believe how many kitchen worktops need resealing behind taps! Those bendy nozzles are now on my shopping list.
Thanks Suzan. Chuffed you found it useful. 👍
So well described, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, David. Thanks for the comment 👍
Purchased the Fugitive kit after watching your video and managed much better results even as a DIY person. Best informative video I have found. Thanks Charlie.
Really glad to hear that Stephen. Great work and thanks for getting in touch.
Very neat and professional way. Many thanks
Thanks for the tutorials mate. - I didn’t have time to go to find those tools but improvised and made a 90 degree angle from my sons lego (they don’t know) 😅🤫...and the angled one from a plastic 6mm packer and I used the Stanley blade to cut the corner off....
Amazeballs. Thank you for this video!
You're welcome - thanks for the comment!
Charlie, these videos are very helpful … thank you.
You're very welcome. Thanks for the comment 👍
Charlie, of all the videos I've seen you were the most informative , and helpful. I'll be looking for You if I need help with future projects!!
Well done Charlie - very helpful vid
Oh yeah Travis Perkins 👍👍
I bought the Cramer set after watching your video and - some time before I needed it for silicone - it came in handy to profile tile grout in a wall niche. Am impressed with the kit.
Glad to hear it Frank 👍
Thank you Charlie, very interesting video, most helpful. Again, take care
Thanks Val. Good to hear from you!
This video is awesome and it has left me super excited.
Aw, thanks Stephen. Make sure you watch this one as well though, so you know how to do the corners. Good luck with the siliconing kzhead.info/sun/eKmrktmnm3-FdIU/bejne.html 👍💪
