The PlaySeat Trophy provides much more stability than a lightweight foldable cockpit (like the NLR GT Lite Pro) but maintains a smaller footprint than a complete aluminum profile cockpit. This makes the PlaySeat trophy an exciting option for your average lounge room or man-cave sim rig provided that it has the rigidity, adjustability, and expandability to meet your needs.
But are you better off just buying an Aluminum Profile Cockpit? Let's find out!

  • I got a black one almost 2 years ago, think it was pretty new back then. It has stood the test of time quite well, it still looks and drives like on day 1. Main reason i got it was because i wanted something sturdy for strong DD wheels, but also didn't have a dedicated place for a rig. So this thing is absolutely perfect for me, because it very light and fairly small while still being sturdy. So i have it standing somewhere in a corner, and then when i want to drive i just slide it over to my PC and get driving. Even after 2 years i am still very happy with this rig.

    • @@AtomicAndi I've done a few endurance races in it, without any problems. Before i had a wheelstand and gaming chair setup. Back then i had a lot of leg and shoulder pain after long session, but since i got the playseat i could drive for hours without issues. The ergonomics are good and the seat is comfy. As for wear, my initial worry was that the velcro straps on the seat might wear out, but they are still as tight as ever. The metal frame stands the test of time ofc, no worries there, no scratches in the coating either

    • I agree with the OP. I’ve had mine a bit over a year. Comfortable and breathable. No issues for longer sessions and no signs of wear. The Velcro is still holding very well and seems as good as day one. I recently got a Simgic DD and I don’t notice any flex at all. I would buy again without hesitation.

  • I went with a tube frame GT Omega Titan due to the width and the ability to add wheels. It rolls right into a closet for easy storage once you remove the shifter. The seat is also easily adjustable for friends which is very valuable.

I can also say that the gear/handbrake holder is excellent. (much like the rest of this rig) Once everything was in place and tightened down it stayed sturdy and surprisingly stable.

  • I have got a black one with gearshift support for one year+ combined with Fanatec DD pro, V3 and shifter. It is perfect for my height (180 cm) and V3s are easy to mount providing extra solidity to the "sweet" pedal tray. I also installed the old belt CSL wheel base and it was a "match made in heaven". The gearshift support holds the hefty Fanatec shifter like a champ. It can be considered the best choice for amateurs or semi-pro simracers.

  • I use a Trakracer TR8 tubular rig with a GT style seat and I originally bought it years ago because it got good reviews, looked aesthetically pleasing in the corner of my dining room, and had an integrated TV/monitor mount. I ended up modifying the mount to allow the screen to move closer to my wheelbase (chasing FOV) but I race exclusively in VR now so the screen isn't important anymore. If I was starting again, I'd go profile but it does everything I need and I can't justify swapping over now.

  • I picked this Cockpit up for my first rig a few months ago and have major complaints complaints. I can sit in it for hours and not get uncomfortable, I am 5'9" and 140lbs for reference. It took a few sessions to dial in the the best adjustments to use that fit me and felt comfortable for hours or play at a time. I really like how easy it is to move around when put together and with wheel and pedals mounted. Mine did come with velcro to help wires but the velcro was only one sided so it was not able to be used since it was missing half its functionality. Really the lack of being able to do something about the wiring is the only real negative I have with the Rig. I got wires being held on with twist ties, while it looks bad it gets the job done well enough. I have used the G923 for a couple months and then upgraded to the DD Pro 8nm and the Rig held up fine with both. The wheel mount needs to be tightened pretty well or the wheels can can move it when the force gets high. Overall I am very happy with the Playseat Rig and would recommend it especially if you need to move it around. Neither the wheels/pedals nor the rig came with hardware to mount them together so I did have to go to the hardware store and get bolts and nuts. Really wish they would come with hardware or at least say it doesn't come with them and recommend what size bolts/nuts are needed.

  • Had the Logitech Grey Playseat for almost a year now and still loving it presence in my small little living room. Stick 4 pieces of felt-pads floor protect and l can push the sim around (not on carpet) whenever l need space without hurting my back. I m 1.8m but setting my seat length to the shortest for the rally-car feels. Can literally sleep in it as well. Yes it's that comfortable, cooling as well. Shipping from Amazon USA is expensive but worth it.

  • Bought a Titan cockpit from GT Omega myself and it's absolutely brilliant. Very rigid, nice-looking, a bit cheaper than the Playseat and requiring little space with the ability to move it around if need be. These kinds of cockpits are great for somewhat regular living and similar rooms! Really love the setup, which I think perfectly hits the sweet spot of having an advanced rig without going full pro.

  • I had some 2" thick pine boards laying around that I got bored and milled up one day. Cut a bunch of it up and made a rig for my wheel and pedals. Made a pedestal and put in some drawer slides that I found in a discarded cabinet on the side of the road. Had some Paracord from a project that I threaded between the two rails for a seat bottom. After I put everything together I was out of a few dollars for some lag bolted to tie everything together. Fun little day project. Now I have a roadside junk TV that I fixed bolted to the wheel pedestal that slides in and out with the wheel to get out and some castors to roll it around.

  • Had mine for about 6 months, it's been a joy to use. The seat is really nice IMO, it kinda forms around me in a nice way. I prefer it over actual racing seats, most of which tend to be uncomfortable for people who aren't realatively tall. I'm 172 tall, 70kilos. I have the pit set pretty close to the smallest setting with the wheel very close cause I like being stuck in really snug. It would work fine for shorter people. Maybe even kids if you raise the seat back upright (mine is leaned back a bit.)

    • Just gonna pop in once more, had it for close to a year now and it's held up great. I've used it for about 300-400 hours at this point and there is no wear anywhere. Still in perfect shape. The seat seems to be made from very resistant material cause it literally looks brand new. I have a load cell pedal as well so I squeeze myself back in that seat pretty hard when I brake, still no stretching or wear. Very satisfied. Very happy it fit me as well as it does. That was my main concern when going with this kind of pit over a profile rig, I was afraid it just wouldn't fit me. It's surprisigngly adjustable. I'm using the wheel base mount backwards to get it even more snug. Anyways, I'd recommend this to people who feel like they want this. It does look super cool and it feels very much like getting into a race car. You have to slide in like you're getting into a supercar. Makes me feel cool every time!

    • Caster wheels can very easily be attached to a profile setup, and if you use the right connectors, it can be partially disassembled or adjusted to make it more compact to fit in a storage area. If you use 8020 profiles, it can be very light and moveable with casters. You're paying a lot extra for a very small space savings.

  • I've had this rig for 1,5 years with a Fanatec GT DD Pro (8 nm) and the V3 pedals. It's very comfortable, and I'm very happy with it. Also have the shifter mount for use as a mouse tray. I don't seem to have really any flex on the length adjustment like there is on the video, maybe because I have it set to a shorter length. Also the V3 pedals have their own baseplate so no flex on the pedals either. The two things of concern with this rig are lack of quick adjustability if you want to have friends try it, and also the lack of a dedicated steering wheel base height adjustment. But if you can live with those, it's a great rig for sure! Highly recommended.

  • Hi Will, I sat on the fence due to content creators giving it a hard time on price versus a dedicated rig. I took the plunge a year ago for the awesome looking grey one. I have my DD Pro mounted to play ACC on PS5. I am so, so pleased with it. The build quality is fantastic, and it looks really sweet, so I get away with it sitting on the corner of the living room. If I decide to go super wide and PC in my office, its office first sim second, so I will still need this to sit in front of my desk and move out the way for work. I have a large house I could accommodate a full rig, I just don't want an ugly extruded aluminium rig. Its also super comfy, I can do a 3 hour on ACC and still feel fresh at the end. There is defo a market for these. I agree they need to make a couple of small adaptions 2 holes for running cables internally, there is many vids on YT of people DIY jobs. It would also really benefit from discrete roller wheels just in front of where the fronts touches the ground. This would make it super easy to move about, which is the main market for this. I Plan on adding some wheels to mine and I might drill and reem it for cables while i'm at it. Anyway I adore mine. Just put your self in the mind set of a casual sim racer that has £££ and you will soon see this sat in the corner of my large living room 🙂

Amazon delivered it next day, I didn't have to wait weeks, or months for some random dude to send me 8020 (which I would just buy locally and design myself) before rummaging through a junk yard for a WRX seat. The Trophy is perfect for what I needed. It's easy to move, easy to adjust, and insanely comfortable, imperceptible flex, and it looks fucking awesome in my game room. Logi G923 fit perfectly (I'm 5' 10"), and so does the Fanatec DD Pro I upgraded to.

  • Have one myself now for several months and I can mostly agree with what you've said in the video although using fanatec's v3 pedals is really no issue in terms of flex. However I'm already upgrading to 8020 rig since lack of customizations is a thing with this rig. While rig is pretty rigid and comfortable I can highlight some of the issues that I've experienced. For me, it's really low and getting in and out is a bit annoying, fastening underneath the seat kept falling off especially when getting out so every now and then I had to fasten it again. While it's relatively light but add heavy pedals and a heavy wheel base(I have DD GT PRO) and you end up where the front of the wheel is heavy and rear end is light, moving it isn't something you'll want to be doing a lot, I solved that by attaching caster wheels to the front and it made moving it around that much easier. If you don't need to move it around then I'd go for 8020 rig since in terms of space it's taking it's just a tiny bit less than the most popular aluminum profile rigs and since for me space has become a non issue and I can set for a permanent rig location it has become redundant. I'm not sure I agree on 'this looks better in a room than aluminum profile rigs', in my opinion new black profile rigs don't look any worse.

It's still light enough to haul upstairs, even with the pedals and wheel mounted. It's not easy because of the size, but doable for a man of average strength.

  • I found my zero gravity lawn chair slides right up to a Next Level folding Wheel/Pedal stand with shifter mount. Nice cheap setup. I used some hexagonal long nuts to extend the shifter further out to a more natural position. And the wheel is very easy to adjust up or down for different people. PS: If you prop the rear of your playchair up, it has the effect of lowering the wheel a tad.

  • I have the black one of this for a month now (switched from NLR wheel stand 2.0) and I like it pretty much. I don't have the space (yet) for a fixed position cockpit (or even storage is problematic) and besides the fact that this is light and easy to move an other advantage is, I can store it vertically with the back of the seat on the floor (part of it is actually under my bed). I bought the shifter mount too (as I have the fanatec shifter and handbrake) really solid too. Only problem is that it doesn't have the holes for bottom-mount of the handbrake, so I had to bolt it to the shifter's side.

  • I purchased the Logitech edition a few months ago, along with the Logitech Pro Wheel & Pedal. Previously I was using a Wheel Stand Pro Deluxe with a G29. I game in my room so I need something with a small foot print. This was a huge improvement for me in terms of comfort, immersion, the adjustments. Assembly was relatively smooth so I have no complaints there. I do recall there being a number of Velcro pieces but to be honest I cant remember if they came with the Logitech Pro wheel & pedal or the Playseat. It is very light and can be easily moved around as needed, this is with the wheel and pedal on. For those who may be worried about damaging/scratching the material of the cockpit, I recommend getting the mat that Playseat also sells. It's the perfect size for the Playseat and helps protect both the cockpit and tile/floor. It also helps to stop the cockpit from sliding around. One thing to consider is, while you have many adjustments and they aren't hard to do, it will still become tiresome making them to suit other people. If you will be the only person using the cockpit, then you''re in the clear but if you have to share it with multiple people it will become a hassle. As mentioned in the video, there will be some flex but it is minimal. You don't notice it while racing.

  • Good vid! I have had a Logitech edition Trophy with my G Pro DD & Pedals for 6 months with minimal gripes. I Feel you missed on talking about Comfort for extended driving sessions. After getting the rig setup right for my ergonomic profile I have had zero issues induced from the rig playing 6 hours plus. Beyond that the sited issue with the pedal base flex is very specific to either individual mounted pedals or with high force in the brake pedal. For instance with my G pro pedals the base they have eliminated most flex except with the brake force set to 80KG of force or higher than frame flex becomes noticeable but I don’t usually go passed 45KG currently. As for mobility of the frame I live in an apartment and only have space in my bedroom and have to position the rig when in use and than take it down and set it in a out of the way spot I have, being able to move it around with ease is extremely helpful! It only takes me about 60 seconds to set it up and begin power up. This really very important when you do not have a dedicated sole use sim racing place available to you or need to move the rig around. Those big aluminum frame rigs eat up a lot of space.

I recently purchased a GT Omega Titan and it's only $100 more than this (cost including the RS12 seat) and this things is pretty solid! The pedal plate is way thicker than is shown in the photos, there is a quite solid shifter mount, and while I know there are some people complaining about the wheelbase mount shifting with heavier bases, apparently a few bucks in locking screws/washers essentially solves the problem. Obviously the playseat is for a pretty different market, as the GT Omega Titan is certainly not something you'll be moving around, but thought I'd bring it up since the price point to value ratio seems pretty high!

  • I've got Sprints mounted to this thing using their baseplate connected to the tray which helps resolve a lot of the flex. Since it's lifted by the baseplate I also slapped a BST-1 under the pedals and another one using a playseat challenge 3rd party connector to the tube under your thighs, those are the same diameter as the OG playseat so those connector peripherals still work. Then I bought a bike phone holder holds a 9-keypad on the left to navigate menus. This sort of rig really benefits from qr2 otherwise its a PITA to stand up and get out of. As other have said you can whip the wheel mount around. Basically have this thrown in a corner connected via extension cables, if you're VR only it's a great solution. Oh yeah, if you get the gear/handbrake holder you can just slap some very short aluminum profile onto it and you can mount just about anything you'd want. Got Heusinkveld handbrake on there no problem.

  • Owned one of these for about a year before selling it to a friend and upgrading to an ASR1 and an NRG seat for basically the same price (I'm in North America and used a discount code for the ASR1). It's a great set up for what it is: rigid enough for low to mid range NM DD bases and load cell pedals but also light enough to slide/move around a room or store out of the way. Looks as though some people even hang them up on the wall when not in use. The main complaint I had about this rig are the sliding "size" extender rails. Ended up having to fully extend them because anything shorter would just expand under heavy braking over time. Have read solutions where people have mixed grease and sand to keep it from fully extending to the large adjustment under breaking. Overall though better than any foldable/wheelstand rig but not quite as good as a full aluminum profile rig and bucket seat. If I were to do it again I would have skipped the Playseat Trophy and gone right to the ASR1 and proper seat but I'm glad I was able to experience the best budget all in one tubular solution currently. The seat on the Trophy is arguably more comfortable than my NRG seat, even after long play sessions and the lightness of the rig combined with the nature of the hammock style seat made the bass shakers that much more impactful. That being said the profile rig is way more customizable and the Playseat doesn't even have a decent shifter/handbrake mount currently that isn't overpriced and poorly designed. All just food for thought.

I am a ‘weekend warrior’ type racer, so I definitely don’t have it dialed-in at a pro level, but I have experience nothing that makes me regret my decision. The ONLY thing I would change is that I feel the seating position is a touch too low for my liking, and I feel it puts my eye-level just below where I would prefer it to be. But I adjust in the software and I’m good to go. I’m not near the rig so I can’t check pedal settings. From memory I have the elastomers on the relatively firm/little travel side, and I don’t experience any flex in the pedal plate.

You'll fairly quickly find yourself replacing a wheel or a monitor or whatever, but the chassis is the one part of your rig you only need to buy once if you don't half-ass it. I mean... It's still shaped like a bucket seat. It's still adjustable. I added an official gear shifter attachment for about £60 a few years ago. It's physically incapable of becoming outdated or breaking. • This looks an upgraded evolution of the Fanatec CSL seat from back in the day. I have owned the CSL seat since 2014 and still use it with my Logitech G Pro as of late. You are right tube designs do lack rigidity or at least mine does. But I would have to say it has stood the test time for sure lol. I bought that thing right before Fanatec discontinued them on a Black Friday sale. Best $99 bucks I ever spent on sim racing gear. This looks to be more versatile and rigid though. One of the biggest issues I have had with the CSL seat is pedal mounting rigidity. I have to mount the pedals very close to the seat to make sure they dont rock backwards when you put force on them. Because of that mounting configuration it makes getting the seating configuration very tricky. Im 5’ 8” and anyone any taller than me would not be able to use the CSL seat because of this unless they are ok with the pedals raising almost 2 inches off the floor under hard braking lol. The profile rig looks to have a more solid pedal mounting design in comparison though. And it also seems to have more adjustability on the wheel deck, seating position, and pedal deck. I think I’ll be upgrading soon because the CSL seat is getting very long in the tooth. So many options these days though.

  • I've had one for a month. The lumbar support is subpar. It gave me lots of back pain during use. I also found the wheelplate not being adjustable is very annoying. When youre in a suboptimal position for a couple hours you notice the inconvenience of it. Even in a 2hr stint in an endurance race it already bothered me. The pedal deck flexes with decent force on braking. And since the whole thing is kinda light, if you put it on a smooth floor it can move during big moments of ffb. Also everytime you sit down it moves, making you re-center the thing while on the chair. I also regularly hit my knees on the extended bits on the wheeldeck Those are all inconveniences that you shouldnt have with a rig at this price point imo. A profile rig is way way better

I have the wheel deck flipped so the short side faces you, which moves the wheel further away. I've got the deck angled down ever so slightly. I have osteoarthritis and find the seating good. The lumbar support is good I've got it just in the right spot. Everyone is different and what works for me may not work for you. Its light, easy to build and configure when compared to a profile rig. The seat is breathable where as most of the cheaper seats for profile rigs are pleather which make me sweat and then the seats are flat so you need brackets to angle it. Or get a more expensive bucket seat with brackets... I did a lot of research before opting for the trophy and for me it's been nothing but perfect.
