I think we all loved him because him being a lone male he was contetnt with what he had. He never seemed to stray from his pride. He always had a very humble look on his face. Thank you to all the people that contributed to bringing this lions story to us over the years.

Dark Mane successfully helped raise his offspring. Had he been displaced or died soon after his ankle injury, his cubs may not have made it and his life would have had none coming from his bloodline. He was a special lion, a leader, whose downfall started with a broken heart when the S8 male was able to steal part of his family and send the rest wandering. He knew that he couldn’t defend what was so cherished by him. He never was the same. He was a born leader without any to guide. His heart to fight was no match for his broken body. I believe he lives on roaring, running and lying on his back in the company of many lions that he knew here. But miss him I will.

I have followed various lions on KZhead for years all of the well known ones Mapaogos Birminghams Matioimbas Selati megighilane etc four ways cof gourse sand river nkhuma all of them but this passing affected me more for some reason I will really miss this guy he was a King amongst kings 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

"Legends never die" is most fitting for Dark Mane. Loved by so many. We mourn his death but we should celebrate his life as he has left behind an amazing legacy. Your watch is over big guy, you did well. RIP with your brother Blondie, your Queen Silver Eye, your 2 daughters and your son. Will miss you forever and a day 👑🦁❣️🙏🏻

Long Live the brave warrior king Dark Mane Avoca! The long reigning king of Djuma! He raised his offspring to adulthood and was one of the most successful coalitions ever! Your lineage lives on and we will follow them forever! I am still heartbroken over this loss.

all of my favourite lion in sabi sand has died.. dark mane avoca, othawa nguvu, hb matimba, majingilane.. they all are gone.
