  • The product looks fantastic. How would you do this on a coin kitchen splashback where the coins are laid vertically against an upright wall? Would gravity makes this difficult?

    @shannonjealous9386@shannonjealous93869 ай бұрын
    • Unfortunately, being self-levelling, it won't really work vertically as the resin will run off the surface. You could make the splashback on boards which could be made horizontally and then once finished, bonded or fastened into position on the wall.

      @GordonWlocksport@GordonWlocksport3 жыл бұрын
    • @@GordonWlocksport If the room, resin and floor is above 20'C then you shouldn't need to but it does no harm (done correctly) so a quick blast over with a heat gun or torch accelerates the air escaping.

    • It depends on the wall paper itself, so we would recommend doing a small test. Some grades of wall paper may also change colour when wet with resin so a test will help show that too.

  • Thanks for the video. This is great How slippery does the floor end up? I have a tiny home so this would be ideal for my floors, but I have large dogs, for whom a slippery floor would not be ideal. Would it be safe in a kitchen that has muddy feet from the garden, or does all water/mud need instantly cleaned up to avoid stain and/or slipping an breaking my neck?

    @rottweilertrainingUK@rottweilertrainingUK Жыл бұрын
    • GlassCast can be quite slippery when wearing things like socks so may not be the best thing for your dogs, especially when wet. In terms of cleaning, it won't stain the surface however any grit from the mud could damage and mark the surface if trodden in. In most domestic applications it would be absolutely fine especially in low traffic areas.

      @glasscastresin@glasscastresin Жыл бұрын

  • Can I do this for a shower floor? I feel like it would be very slick.

    @calebjones5015@calebjones50157 ай бұрын
    • We wouldn't recommend it within the shower/wet room itself because it would be incredibly slippy plus would be very difficult to achieve a fall towards the drain as the resin is self-levelling.

      @glasscastresin@glasscastresin7 ай бұрын
  • Any recommendations on doing this for a backsplash in the kitchen?

    @angels7432@angels74326 ай бұрын
    • The resin is self-levelling so can't be used on vertical surfaces, it would just run off. The best way is to make splashback panels which can be made flat and then secured to the wall after curing.

  • Is this video exactly the same for records/ vinyl, with no gaps (cuts or overlaps)

    @garethmcgowan2550@garethmcgowan25506 ай бұрын
    • If you mange to lay the floor completely with no gaps and completely level (no stacking) then the process would be exactly the same. If not and there are gaps or overlaps then you would need to level off the surface with an initial layer of resin, to give you an initially flat surface with which to complete the main pour.

  • Is there good for high volume traffic? would you recommend this for businesses?

    @natashataimkij4367@natashataimkij43672 жыл бұрын
    • With high volume traffic it will pick up more scratches than domestic use so would likely require polishing occasionally to keep the surface finish a high gloss.

  • Will this work over porus materials?

    @ruberducky6@ruberducky63 жыл бұрын
    • In theory yes but be sure to seal coat it first to ensure air doesn't escape into your main pour.

  • What's different about this stuff vs using automotive clear coat? Isn't it basically the same thing except it's a 4 to 1 mix?

    @blackisback74@blackisback742 жыл бұрын
    • This is a hard wearing epoxy resin normally used at around 2-3mm in thickness with a perfect self-levelling characteristic. An Automotive Clear Coat is normally used in much thinner applications and spray applied to a product whereby the resin is poured on to achieve a thicker finish.

      @tobypage892@tobypage892 Жыл бұрын
    • Hi Toby, we tend to recommend a maximum of 4mm for GlassCast 3. You can go a little bit deeper but it will start to look a bit hazy. It's worth remembering that if you start going deeper than 3 or 4mm then you'll be using a LOT of resin, particularly if it's over a large area like a floor.

      @glasscastresin@glasscastresin Жыл бұрын
    • Hi again Toby. If you're thinking of encapsulating really chunky things like old bullets and dear antlers you'd need to be looking at a 'casting' resin, rather than a coating resin. We do GlassCast 10 which can be used up to 10mm (just under 1/2") and we do GlassCast 50 which you can use up to 25mm (1"). As I mentioned earlier though, this really will be using a LOT of resin at this thickness.

    @user-cm2ec6mn4z@user-cm2ec6mn4z3 ай бұрын
    • GlassCast is self levelling which means it will try and flow to the lowest point of the room and level out, this means that it's very difficult to use the product on a sloped floor such as a shower or wet-room which allows the water to run to the drain. The other thing to consider is that the smooth surface can be very slippy when wet.
