Hey im curious if you have ur own playlsit u listen to while flying on ur EUC if so do you mind sharing it?
would like to test a gosmilo one wheel?
after any fall/wreck...always take 3min to 5min and just hang out. Double check and triple check everything. Super glad you're alright and man that thing looks fun as crap
Damn bro almost lost the family jewels on that one... RESPECT
very dangerous
Yea, why does the wheel keep spinning?
@@Mr.ewheelwhen you lean it accelerates. when it falls down it thinks you still are accelerating. but a few seconds after it knows it has no traction so it stops.
I believe it was the lack of handlebars that caused the crash
You stole my comment! I was gonna say that was 6" from a burn out on his twig and berries. Note to self: add jock strap and cup to gear...
That thing slammed into the barrier and no bent rim, or other damage? Wow. Kudos for not dropping the selfie stick, those cameras are truly amazing.
"Kudos for not dropping the selfie stick.." The show must go on!!
Dude, ty for posting this. I have 2700 miles on my EXN and still get wobbles from time to time especially when needing to brake hard over 35MPH. I can see where you stopped carving, like you had your weight distributed evenly over both petals and you started to wobble, tried to correct it, but it was too late. I can see where you "break concentration" with the wheel. You came out of that zone where we're one with the wheel. You're a great teacher and a great rider. I had nobody to learn from other than YT when I got my wheel. You are a big reason I ride like I do. It's great to see other good riders still deal with wobbles and it's great to hear you talk about it. I came say thank you enough for posting this. I learned a lot about what I've already had to deal with and you had a great camera angle to the whole thing! Keep posting, dude!!
play stupid games...
@@cagneybillingsley2165enlighten us on what the "stupid game" here is exactly, smart-ass
4:59 EUC 'kickstands' are like Trailer 'hitches' for the everyday people! Shin-Shredders for sure! 😁
Yeah. It's strange how the kickstand is built as a fixed piece of metal that sticks out rather than be designed to lock up and lock down. The obvious benefit is not only to avoid shin-shredding but also removing any possibility of it catching on objects such as rocks, tree roots, and steps, etc.
All things considered, that was a near perfect crash scenario, that could have been way worse. Looks like you even touched your rear end on top of that slush pile. Bravo and glad you didn't get injured~
One thing chooch has become really good at during all these years of crashing on euc!!! How to save the camera lens. Bravo.
Damn Chooch. That's scary. Good thing you're always fully geared and there wasn't another car over there. Impressive you just got up and walked away. I feared for your family jewels with that wheel spinning away between your legs. I've received some bad abrasions from similar scenarios with wheels that haven't stopped spinning. Thanks for sharing.
Love that you talk about respecting other drivers on the road, mistakes you made, how to be safe and considerate!
Glad you’re ok, thanks for showing us this crash, I’m sure we can all learn from this. Keep safe mate. Simon- Sweden
Dude. You applied the ball breaks 💪🏼. Hell yeah bro, you still the man.
Speed wobble comes from nerves not actual speed. Stability is key and the faster tou go the more inportant it is. At speeds of 40+ the slightest movement in your feet or legs will be multiplied significantly to the board (in this case unicycle) Dont be afraid, always commit, if you start to feel shaky immediately solidify your stance. I imagine a unicycle is a bit different from a skateboard, but hope it helps
Need some kind of handlebars, even with break away system, like an eject button. or anything to get batter grip one the wheel direction vector
Handled it perfect. Falling is such a vital skill- just ask any martial artist, or hard court tennis player
Rule 1: ABC = Always Be Carvin' Rule 2: DTB = Drop👏That👏Butt👏
The way dude just strolled through that squirrely snow patch at 20:48 was the most surprising and funny thing for me
Another thing you can do to protect your shin is wearing full neck boots. People say you can't feel the wheel with those and impede mobility, but once you wear them enough and get used to them, it will feel the same. In fact, I feel naked without full neck boots now. It's like anything else in life. People complained about ski goggles when skiing. Get used to them and you can see things fine. Same thing for some people saying helmets impede their mobilities/fov/comfort level etc...
When stopping in a straight line You may try rotating your hip forward as if you were doing a dead lift (said squat originally) while slowing down in a straight line. Weaving/carving is great if you have space but if straight line deceleration I found this works really well. When you tighten your lower back and push your pelvis forward it stabilizes your legs (the cause of the wobble) and reduces/eliminates the effects of the wobble.
Is there a picture or video that you can link me to so that I can better understand what you're talking about?
@@matchingchong I said a squat but meant dead lift though the final movement are the same. you are activating your glutes and lower back. This video has the clearest examples: kzhead.info/sun/ktSxiJafqGeqZ58/bejne.html If you watch the lifter/animation watch the glutes/hips/lower back you can get the idea of the movement I am referring to. You can practice with heavy objects/weights to get a feel for it.
Good to see someone talking about the sharp edges on recent EUC designs. I've had a low speed crash cut into a tendon just because a soft TPU handle hit it wrong. Since one of our local riders lost his life on a lynx, I'm still not sure how it damaged his helmet so bad, but a heavy wheel dropping edge first is like a battle axe.
That's terrible. What happened to cause that?
@@cbruffin121 We don't know for sure because there were no direct witnesses. It was on a bike path with not much room for error, so avoiding cyclists, or an animal, or just slipping out are all possibilities.
Great video and advice. I agree, hard breaking going fast downhill is one of the hardest techniques to master, especially in urban traffic when it's not easy to set up because of instant reaction being necessary and sometimes it's this 'hasty' movement falling into the break that triggers the wobbles and one must either by practice or keeping a cool head, learn the technique, adapting to the wheel, 'slower' is sometimes faster. Fluid overcoming fear...
Chooch the reason you fell is your legs were tired from too much stress. Bro u were riding at high speeds and corning hard on them all so your nerves needed a 3 min rest and I bet u would have had a 80% success on that turn.
Nah - clearly downhill braking wobbles. This would happen on fresh or fatigued legs He needed to either keep carving while braking to prevent the wobbles or briefly sped up to undo the wobbles, and then re-brake.
@@lakeroyalelifeThats not why or how wobbles occur you dont understnad the physics behind it. While carving will help stabilise your ride it doesnt stop them from happening. Uneven pressure applied to the pedals does. Tired/strained muscles will do exsactly that, only otherthing helping is to sit on your euc to rest your legs. Wobbles dont just apear beacasue you go downhill, thats stupid to say.
@@JDAM-bi1sn You clearly have no idea what youre talking about. Motorcycles have the same issue. They get wobbles. Is it because their feet or arms are tired? Absurd. Im an engineer. Ive dealt with wobbles. They dont occur because of fatigue. You dont understand the physics here, clearly. Motorcycles often have dampeners put on their steering to deal with wobbles. Going down hill often helps generate wobbles because it makes you brake. Braking turns a spinning disc into a spinning ball - thus the wobble. Wobbles can occur for many reasons, but they are not triggered by tired legs. This makes no sense at all. I have 10,000 miles on EUC's. Never got a wobble from fatigue. Lots of wobbles from KNOWN REASONS - and fatigue isnt one of them. Chooch even explained this. He needed to keep carving to help prevent the wobble. He was braking because of a sharp turn he was approach. That initiated the wobble, not fatigue. A motorcycle could have experienced this for the same reason - which proves fatigue isnt the issue.
I can confirm that downhill braking is an awesome way to get some wobble action.
Hey Colton I've really enjoyed your videos I'll keep watching hope to see you soon. Dean
Chooch, you're a brilliant, fearless rider with always informative content. Thanks for being a test pilot on a wheel I will now never own.The Lynx death wobbles were not reminiscent of any cat as they always land on their feet. Speedy recovery. 6 pack Gord
You did a great job of keeping your head on and laying back once you saw the death wobble couldn’t be corrected. This same exact accident ended my wheel riding forever. Back when uni’s were in their infancy and beginning to get fast I got into this same situation but it being my first high speed crash I didn’t keep my head at all. I face planted on 110° asphalt and broke both arms. My helmet protected my head but did little for my face. I had other injuries but I’d rather not even go into it. I think you did as well as can be expected to control and minimize the fall. Great job bro!
Holy craaa...! This is just incredible how you ditched the wheel at those speeds and basically got up without a scratch. Thats the best thing about the EUCs. They give you freedom eaven when you fall down. You saw the moment of no return and ditched the wheel..straight down with your bum and went up back on your feet in a second. Man that guy driving behind didnt eaven stop. He thought you just stiped to do some maintenance on the wheel. Man thats legit. Chooch you rock. Keep up the great content. Stay safe and keep rolling.
Glad you’re good bro. Thank you for sharing your insights. Great energy and good knowledge. Would be cool if you could do a detailed video on how to carve 🙏🏻
glad your okay, thanks for sharing this video it definitely helps how to prevent wobble crashes. what do you have the PWM set at on your lynx.
Gnarly crash Chooch! Glad you are okay. I recently stopped using the safety strap you suggested and now I feel like I am really flying. Thanks again for helping me get into euc riding. Literally conquered my depression ^_^
Man I’ve grown up riding 3 and 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. But this just looks like so much fun. Been watching for a while but only the past couple weeks I’ve really been thinking I’m gonna get one of these
Go for it, you might find a new life 🎉
Just got the Mten4 and it is too much fun
You will not regret it!
Glad your ok dude, great learning experience, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Your Footage is Awsome man respect sure you have a lot of Heart!!
On my Sherman-S and other wheels, I usually position my feet forward, pushing into the front pads. But on the Lynx this led to wobbling. I had to adjust my stance to put my feet back as much as I can, pushing my calfs into the break pads. Along with a gentle carve at all times, this gets rid of all wobbling. Loving the high pedals. When I get back onto my OG Sherman I feel like my feet are going to hit the ground.
Happens on v11 too when I was new. My solution I learned was to fall back on a backward lean with some weight behind it. It will significantly slow down and eliminate wobble. Done with practice, but it worked all the time for me. I realized if I just stood up and tried to squeeze it, or ride it though, it would try to continue wobbling.
Bro, your being reckless as fk. If a car was coming around that corner you would be shit outta luck. Slow down brother💯
Im happy to see that you weren't injured too badly. I had a similar situation happen to me yesterday on my little 16x going down a steep hill. I couldn't believe it. I've been riding for almost a year and I haven't had any speed wobbles on a long time.i did manage to carve out of it but it shook me up a little bit because the wobbles came on so suddenly and unexpectedly. I think my issue was that I got too much into my comfort zone and got lost in the ride.
this is the most dude man bro EUC commentary on youtube bro
What type of hip protectors do you use?
Glad you saved the camera bro, and glad you're ok dude. Much love
20:52 Unicycle on snow !!!! it's a new sport !! 🤣🤣🤣 Greetings from France
Glad that you are alive.
Just ordered mine. Excited to zoom around the city!!
@choochtech quick question, I’m currently riding the INMOTION v12. I’ve gotten it up to 37mph but apparently there is another mode that makes it go upwards of 43.5mph? If so do you mind telling me this process.
I had feel off my monster the exact same way, geared up just like u and end up getting a massive road rash all over my back
glad you came through that incident ok! with that sharp corner incoming, very limited options.
Do you have lowered pedals??
I actually ride the veteran lynx just like you said I’m pretty much all roads. Biggie pedals and the lowering kit with the tubeless street tire. So excited for this upcoming riding season
Is good you are okey after that :-) thx for tips about riding , this ones are always the best from my perspective ;-) like always nice moves ! great places to ride etc. :D all the best !
Can we talk about your spinning tire when you fell? That happed to me with the Patton as well and cut through my trousers into my skin😬 why does it keep spinning at this angle. That shouldn’t happen and it’s super dangerous!
You can adjust that.
He may have it set to a really high angle so it doesn't stop until almost nearly horizontal.
@PepperandCaseysRv how do you set it? Almost took my fingers off when I grabbed the wheel upside down.
@dnthmn117 that seems silly considering that the wheel never gets more than like 20 degrees of bank
@@Freezorgium I guess it depends. Some folks take these to MTB parks and pump tracks where you can get them pretty far over on a banked turn.
Very informative, thank you for sharing that with us so we can learn from each others mistakes. When riding at speed, using the front 1/3 of your foot no longer works functionally. What I've learned in my time riding at high speeds 40mph< is think about reaching for your heel closest tot he inside of the turn. It'll look like this: If you're corning left, your left hand reaches for your left heel, your body position should look like you're trying to grab the left heel but and right foot should have a majority of your weight planted firmly on the right foot. If you're corning right, take your right hand and reach for your right heel. The stability during corning will come from how well you understand counterbalancing. Knowing where to plant your weight (opposite side of which ever way you're turning) is hypercritical to eliminating or mitigating speed wobbles. If you feel like you might lose control and you know how to ride seated, drop your weight and ride seated immediately. Riding seated will bring your center of gravity closest to the center axis of the wheel. In my opinion, a pedal lowering kit won't make a difference to a rider who hasn't learned effective counterbalancing and where the real stability riding at high speeds comes from. The skill of counterbalancing and proper weight distribution crosses over, knowing how and where to shift their body weight can be translated to any wheel past, present, and future. It is empirical to rider safety. A pedal lowering kit is a nice way for newer riders to trick themselves into better riding and "safety" by allowing them to use sloppy weight distribution. Glad you are ok Chooch, could of been a lot different.
I don't know if it's the same for unicycle. But on a motorcycle, speed wobble usually occurs when you hit a slight bump at significant speeds. Anyways thanks for sharing. I'm glad your crash was something you can walk away from, and there's not too much damage to your wheel.
Outstanding euc content
Glad ur OK dude.ride on man!!!
I have the lynx. My speed tiltback is maxed, but the os % is set at like 75%. Can I push it until tiltback, or do I have to worry about cutout? You look like you were cooking. A little insight in your settings would be helpful. Thanks for the video. You are inspirational.
The ABC of EUC = Always Be Carving!
Glad you're okay! A GT Pro definitely would've taken a bigger bite out of you with that pointy handle... I'm a little late to the party, but I must mention that higher pedal height (to a certain extent) is more stable than lower. I've learned this from riding my OG Sherman and Sherman S. The S is more stable because the leverage the wheel needs to overpower me is more than the OG. The best way I can describe it is: imagine you are tightening a bolt, would you rather use a screwdriver or a wrench? The wrench. The Sherman S, with the higher pedal height, is the wrench. The lowering kit does have some extra benefit, though: easier mount/dismount, easier acceleration and deceleration.
I have gone 1400 miles on my Lynx, and the stock tubeless street tire is worn out. I am about to put a Shinko 241 on the Lynx. I am looking forward to your off road content. I am glad you and your Lynx are ok. I might try to round the corners a bit on my Lynx kick stand.
I took my kickstand off also and the wheel looks so much better! It looks like I took the kitty training wheels off. 😂
With Vesc onewheel we have something called ATR which is short for adaptive terrain tracking. I wonder if it's possible to code in some sort of feature for this in a unicycle.
How in GN do you film?
Great technique: relaxed, and calm. Knowing how to bail is good euc knowledge. I think you should find another person; who rides in your city. For safey reasons: I wouldn't want to fall and be knocked out unconcious. Before I even leave for work, there are ambulances patrolling. Ever since riding EUC last year. Which sucks because not a lot of people know how to ride. Luckily there is a small EUC dealership in Wichita Ks. Where I live. And the owner does do small get together group rides. But not much recently. I used to do some gymnastics; when I was younger. Because I remember learning seated riding on the v13. At night; fell up and over the wheel. I did mad smooth dive roll though. I'm thinking of taking my wheel on vacation to Colorado in mid or late summer. To explore around nature. The last time I've been to Colorado was when I was 8. So visiting again would be quite fun. Do you know of any fun trails and scenic routes?
Glad you're OK homie. Nice save with the Insta360 👌🤙
At least unicyclers usually seem to wear proper gear, people on other type of electric rides usually do not.
If a few different things fail on an EUC in specific scenarios a rider is virtually guaranteed to crash. This is not necessarily true on other machines.
If you want to be able to do some off-road, can you get the street tire for the lynx? Or is the knobby just so much better.
These things are built for slams! I have a onewheel and I love it, but these things are just as sturdy (and faster).
I love ridding unicycle and it's so much fun going some speed and speed wobbles are awful when it happens be safe go with flow.
*Hey Chooch ! Man ! I'm so glad you're alright ! 👍 👍 👍 What a quick and sudden wobble out crash down !! I have a few questions about control issues on one wheel vehicles. In the scenario that happened to you.....1. How fast were you going at the time off wobble on set ? 2. Would you have been able to deal with sudden onset of wobble more easily if you were sitting down right on top of your one wheel Lynx seat ? Obviously, a seated position would provide a lower centre of gravity, but what is not completely clear to me is the cause of the sudden onset of wobble and why it was not possible to recover from it ? Please explain. Thanx Chooch.*
Glad to see you're OK. Between the Inmotion V13 and the Veteran Lynx (no off-roading required) ... what would be your choice? I know you said the Lynx doesn't hold you back, does the V13 hold you back? Is it because of the larger tire not being as agile?
I'd love to have one of these things- way too expensive for me though :( Glad you're okay! Nice vid, it's good to show what can happen.
Do any begode wheels feel faster than the lynx ?if so what begode wheel is it?
dude your are a master, its almost look like you crash the lynx on purpose to forgot extreme episode, and for that you push the leaperkim lynx to borderland, your crazy, and with that learn things how to engage control anticipate, thx you Chooch, personaly y love lynx but ewheels got super discount on the extreme i may not resist
Love my lynx too. Wheel rocks
Awesome you show the bad with the good 👍🏻
I'm interested in these electric unicycles, but living in northern Minnesota makes me wonder how they handle if you happen to hit a patch of ice. Is it instant death?
Cooch I staggered my feet about inch forward & one inch back and that has taken the wobbles away with a few other things... I am sure you played with your settings a ton but I noticed the staggering of my feet with (i was a hard mode only guy ) I tried 0 % soft mode full and that made this me not have any more wobbles 95% of when I use to get them ... not they arent even a wobble but I also have the street tire & imo that made the wobbles easier to get ... hey man I am a big guy at 6'4" 270lbs & also when I do ride street (70/30) trail I put the psi to 42 and it rides like aa demon ... keep making the videos mate... cheers
Nice save... I've done the EXACT same on my Lynx... It's unforgiving once those oscillations start. Never get that on any other wheel.
Same for me.
Out of the 3 options for inmotion v12 which one I should go with. Please let me know 😊
i had a plate and screws attaching my clavicle put into my shoulder tuesday i recked on my v12ht what gear would you reccomend if i decide to get back on the machine (after months of physical therapy)
I feel your pain. How did you do it? I have titanium from shoulder to my elbow, and in my wrist. I'm still in physio. A guy didn't see me on my V12HT on a roundabout and ran me over. I also broke my jaw bones and had 6 stitches in my chin. I was pretty well kitted out in terms of protection, but you can't win against a car.
@@vince7245 thats unreal dude sending some healing vibes your way did the huy get charged or did he run
@@mrfinnegan27 No, the guy seems like a good person and an upstanding human being. My lawyer is talking to his insurance company to sort things out. He was there until the police and ambulance arrived and admitted to it being his fault.
Fuuuuuucckkk dude! Gotta love the rush of the BOOM! JUST ROLL IT OFF YO. GLAD YOU AINT HURT BRO.
Which suspension your lynx got??
Textbook controlled bail there bro! A less experienced rider would’ve been in a world of trouble no doubt. 👍
Good to see you walk away, just had a cutout while seated and there was nothing I could but fall forward and the wheel come tumbling into me at about 35-40mph
What wheel?
How did it happen?

im 5'4 160, my guess is over torque although i've ridden the same route for years on my sherman and never had any issues, my fault for assuming 134v 4800wh 50s would offer more power, people are overstating their experiences of wheel performance/power it seems@@Rockin_EUC

glad ur ok!
Took it like a champ 💪🔥
Thanks!
Had to give you a shout out as I just bought one of these because of your content and couple other youtubers.
I really appreciate that! Thank you so much, be safe, have fun and enjoy. You will love it!
How do you feel about the v13 now that you have ridden all the new wheels? Going down flag is the only place I have gotten wobbles I could barely control.
I have never had wobbles like this on the V13. It makes me wonder if the bigger wheel and weight are worth it to prevent this kind of thing. Wobbling out at 40 + mph is never good. Thoughts Chooch? I know you were riding around on the V13 for a while. I'm curious about how they compare.
Do you have tail bone protection in those pants?
That look like u had a blast man e enjoyed the video❤
What's the best starter ECU?
you got back on like a boss!
Hi Chooch the quiet, yeah this is good footage, not funny like the ice rut but we get to see the conditions including down angle, the mobile distractor factor the car, the rider and wheel right through move, this is helpful footage even tho don't fall for clicks anyone, my opinions. The size of oscillations over guff. Well filmed. So down slope a high skill area. Perhaps you can put together thoughts on the down slope skill, perhaps a comments you saw we may have missed, anyway hope to figure out more guff, fun. Thank you Mr Chooch. Wishing you nice success and to be well.
Set brake assist to 100% issue solved. It helps with panic breaks like this one.
Is that on master to?
If it has Smart BMS you should have the option on the app.@@AwakenedStars
Every crash video I've seen this year makes me want the airbag pants
Great video 😮, you are very good at falling! If you weren't so good, you would be injured even with gear. People need to learn how to fall on these things and its videos like this that show people how to fall well. This, I would say is the primary thing that every EUC rider should learn. Secondary to carving. This is one of the best vids on carving too simply cos this unit is one of the newest and fastest units on the market. EPIC! Thnks for sharing! 😮😮
Do you know why the wheel kept spinning when it was sideways? Is that just a Lynx thing or did the situation happen so fast it didnt shut off right away
It looks like you are pushing the wheel to its limits, near to its brake limits. It's also possible that an underinflated tyre is more prone to hard braking speedwobbles because the tyre deforms.
Gravel? Ice? Oil slick? Insanity! You are either very brave, or very dumb, either way I enjoyed watching the video. KZhead is a place where we get to watch people do things that we would never try 😂 Godspeed 💪💪
Veteran should def sponsor u for this dedication lol
8:41 fuckin sick line for a dubstep drop, ah I couldn't hold the wobbles bro, took over dude.
I’m sure you know all. The Boulder and Nederland rcoads. Your definitely good on the one wheel. We took them roads a ton on our bikes.
I just did the same thing the other day, ripped my kickstand completely off, broke the mudguard and bent the trolley.
