Who Let a ROOKIE Drive MANUAL on the Highway?! Learning stick shift on GAIL the SNAIL NNKH

2023 ж. 7 Қаз.

In this video, I really put myself to the test, pushing my limits and comfort zone. Can I, a novice at manual transmission, drive the 1962 Econoline, "GAIL the SNAIL" with manual steering and a sloppy shifter to the Duct Tape Drags in Tuscon, Arizona? Unfortunately, not everything goes as planned.
Chris's Video on this trip: • More "Gail The Snail" ...
Special thanks to owner Jim and his staff at the Tuscon Dragway for inviting us back to race on Sunday. Every single one of them really made our experience so memorable and we couldn't be more grateful!
Check them out at:
/ tucsondragway
youtube.com/@TucsonDragway?si...
Check out these cool channels that were also at the Duct Tape Drags. I know some of them are doing videos of their own on the event, so be on the lookout. Thanks @IrishOutlawGarage for the footage of the Econoline!! So great seeing old friends and meeting new ones along the way. We will for sure be back next year!

    • Wheels coming off tractor trailers in Ontario, Canada were a thing back in the late 90s. Police started cracking down on the trucking companies because it was almost happening on the daily. Eventually, Torque Indicators were added to the wheel nuts of commercial trucks. Now it's a rare occurrence.

Chris is a lucky man to have someone so willing to push her own limits while hanging with him. One thing I will say for sure is that since dating Chris I have done things, seen things and accomplished things I never thought I would, simply bc he pushes me so far out of my comfort zone. In this particular situation he felt pretty bad bc he realized afterwards it was far too dangerous, but he certainly has made a huge impact on the way I face new things and challenges. • Seatbelts, seatbelts, SEATBELTS! Guys, I am 62yr old. I’ve been in car accidents caused by others. Both with and without seatbelts. I’m very blessed to be writing this as I survived a hellish car accident. Without going in to too much detail. Without a seatbelt, my head went into the windshield. I spent three days in the ICU. Two more weeks in the hospital, then three months in physical therapy. During that three months, I was plucking shards of glass from my skull as my body pushed that foreign debris out of my skin. That, and a punctured right lung. A catheter due to bruised kidneys. It still took a year to walk w/o extreme pain in my left leg, knee and foot. You two are the same age I was when that happened. Forget the engine, forget the tires, forget the gig or event you “must” drive to. Get the seatbelts and wear them. So many people these days on their phones. Has made driving today far worse than it was in the ‘70s and ‘80s. You two make for a fun and talented couple to watch. Please take care of each other and wear your seatbelts. No excuses. Love watching both of your channels. Keep doing your thing. Currently, I’m working on a ‘70 Buick Electra 225 Custom 4 door sedan. Hope to have her back on the road soon. Love it when you two are working on the land yachts! Take care from Spotsylvania VA. RustyFuryIII

    • Tiberius it's true, we never forget, just as Jen shall never forget her first time. I learned on a 1964 Studebaker Wagonaire back in 1974 as a Senior in high school, with a clutch pedal that could give your hamstring a 'Charlie Horse' in stop and go traffic. But then I purchased my first car a 1964 Ford Falcon soon after graduating. It was 1976, the car was not so pretty in its olive green skin, just like Gail. It had been sold out of Pac Bell's service fleet to the man whom I purchased it from, he was a Fuller Brush door to door salesman. It cost me $400.00 So it lived with Pacific Bell as a fleet vehicle, then it cleaned up the neighborhoods as a brush mobile. Of course it was a six cylinder, three on the tree, plain Jane four door model. I loved that dependable car and will never forget all the good times I had riding around in northern California, just sipping fuel, touring the Sierra Nevada mountains and foothills to the splendor that is the Pacific sea along coastal State Hwy 1, prior to joining the USAF. p.s. My pop helped me yank out the original tired sixer and we replaced it with what at the time you could order from Sears Roebuck, a remanufactured six, as well we did the clutch plate, flywheel and throw out bearing, you know; the works!

  • Got a laugh a couple times with you learning 3 on the tree, I learned how to drive on my dad's old 64 Ford with 3 on the tree and I think that's how everyone should learn for the 1st time, cuz after that driving anything is a breeze, don't worry jen the more you drive it the easier it'll get

  • Hi Jen and Chris, sitting back watching your program again you two are absolutely amazing people I can’t get enough of your videos. They are so entertaining so much fun and it makes me laugh and so does Gus he’s an awesome little man. So please keep the videos coming. I absolutely love them as I said take good care of yourselves. Take care God bless remember don’t let anyone steal your dreams Rob from Australia Once again Jen, I am totally in amazement of you, even though you were Deadset scared and showing your emotion to the world you got up and you kept going well done young lady. Well done and I liked it when you and Chris said to each other that you love each other and you gave a kiss that is so so beautiful thank you.
