High Table Origins - the ultra-powerful underworld organization in the John Wick universe!

Funniest thing about the High Table? The fact that they seem omnipotent but want to cheap out and only pay a few million to kill the most dangerous man alive
Throughout this entire film I was expecting John's bounty to reach 100 million at the rate it kept increasing. 40 million dollar bounty. That's gotta be a record in his verse.
Maybe raising the money would show everyone that John Wick is making them sweat?
The way it went up by 30 million in the final movie showed they were indeed sweating
lol exactly. “The hit bounty has just increased from 15 million to *16 MILLION* !!!!¡!¡¡¡!”
No no marquis had control over the price of his bounty though
High Table Theory 1. The Elder is the leader. 2. The Marquis is the Council Leader. 3. The Adjudicator is the High Table's Head Enforcer 4. The Harbinger is the High Table's Head Judge 5. The 12 High Table Members are the Council. 6. The Continental Hotel Owners and their Concierge are the managers. 7. The rest below are crime lords, mob bosses, agents, assassins, bounty hunters, etc.
❤❤❤
Yet the Russian Mob seemed to be the most problematic even though there's all that above them. I mean night John won his freedom and killed all those people for Viggo doesn't make sense considering what he has to deal with later.
@@Pandach_1 John helped Viggo kill his rivals (normal crime lords) in one night allowing Viggo and the Russian Mob to gain enough power and influence they don't need John anymore. In other words, Viggo became powerful he doesn't have to kill too many enemies.
Wrong. The "Marquis" is just a member. The "Adjudicator" is just an adjudicator. She's not an enforcer, just an agent. The "Harbringer" is just a harbinger. He's another agent.
@@bobfg3130 Then why the titles. Why the respect for High Table leadership? Just saying they are just another agent is just calling everyone equal. There is a hierarchy. There are those who lead. There are those who enforce. There are those who follow.
The Bowery King is in direct opposition to the high table, he doesn’t work for them. They just consider him to be beneath their concern, until he helps John.
He literally used your statement in his video on him lol good work
He worked under them before he helped John, that's why they said he must leave his throne. Then he said fuck you, I ain't leaving shit.
The Bowery is literally an underworld Intelligence network disguised to look like a homeless shelter. it is definitely under the Table because they also take gold coins in exchange for their services. The High table just didn’t give a fuck about it until the Bowery King helped John to kill one of its members.
Even after their encounter Morpheus could never not help "THE ONE"
@@davidmiller4758 Not the case. He worked with them. The thing was that he "WAS the throne". He created the network and he could dismantle it.
Since it has been mentioned that the High Table existed way back into the time when the Aztecs are running around, which was around 15-16th century, The High Table must have started out as a collection of pirates, bandits, and corrupt nobility at the time, but as the ages past by their organizational structure became more solid and the number of their council members started growing as well. From mafias to triads, yakuzas, cartels, warlords. 12 crime families governing their own home territory and their subsidiaries. We do know 2 members of the High Table namely The Camorra a real world mafia dating back its origin to the 17th century, the same family where Santino is from, and the Rusko Roma the family where John Wick(Jardani Jovonovich) is raised and trained as an assassin. The high table functions as a mediator for these 12 crime families overseen by the Elder to ensure civility at all times. All their rules basically boils down to never ever going into open conflict, since all that 12 families gives a shit about is control and profits, and war between its members is bound to be a money sink. The Table controls the governments in a way that they will ignore crimes pertaining to the Table's profits, in other words if a crime does not benefit the table the criminal is up for grabs for the law enforcement perhaps this may be the Table's way to get rid off dissidents and unwanted criminals so if a their local mob boss don't like drug dealers in his territory he could make use of the law enforcements to get rid off em. Which is why despite how easy it is to just make use of the Law enforcements to deal with John, they simply wont do that since there's probably an agreement that the Table would not make use of the government's resources when it came to their Business. tdlr: High Table is basically an ancient shadow government that only gives a fuck about their control over the underworld and their profits, otherwise they let everyone do their thing as long as it is not disrupting High Table Business, in other words they have done what no organized crime have ever did in our world: committing TAX EVASION for centuries uncaught
Damn. You have analyzed on a level That most have not or cannot. Nicely done
So that's why use gold as currency.....
I would add to this some organization from Arab world and organization that Markiz belong to.
Get a life
Wouldn’t doubt the high table originated from Renaissance traders and conquistadors. They have a traditional order with their own methods of payment, beyond cash, and are global, and behave both like the Italian mafia, and Catholic Church before the reformation, or the Holy Roman Empire
John wick 4 was phenomenal
“Can the High Table reproduce?” Lol
Apparently yes lol
Depends on which head you cut off
A trick question!
😫😫
@@BlackHart730😅 Is there really a table in the High Tible? Can Hollywood go a decade without turning everything profitable into a franchise? 😭
So what you're telling me,is that wick could've avoided everything by challenging santino to a duel, but Winston declined to tell him🤣🤣🤣
I think the duel was for the Marquis' seat at the table. Santino was still under the table and he wanted to eliminate his sister that was about to be elevated. So I don't think the duel was available for that scenario.
Once Ginna dead, and Santino place a bounty on Wick, the latter would ask Winston for the duel challenge offer. Bigger problem still, if killing a Made Man should be sanctioned by The Commission in the first place (as explained by "Goodfellas"), heads of High Table suppose to be Untouchable of Untouchables. Santino upsurge Ginna leadership suppose to broke the taboo, not least gave the top assassin of The Continental a Catch 22 deal to done the hit (the rationale of The Commission was "unreasonable vendetta is bad for business", same logic should be apply to High Table). The Adjudicator should be pay Santino a visit in the middle of NYC mayhem during Chapter 2.
I'm sorry I haven't watched the new movie, but what about the marker? Wasn't it being said that John basically can't do anything(including a duel?) since he's bound his blood oath to Santino until he fulfilled it?
exactly!
@@crimson9790 once John killed santinos sister, John was free from his marker, giving home free rein to kill santino. The issue was that John killed Santino on continental grounds
John had to defy the Elder because even if he did assassinate Winston he'd be a free of being killed but now he'll be forever a servant to the High Table. Spoiler Alert ⚠️ Similar to the Harbinger, you can see that he, too, has a missing ring finger and a few scars on his face, showcasing that at one point he was in a similar situation like JW where the Elders gave him a choice and he fulfilled it. Although high-ranking, he's still plays a role in the HT. And JW wants none of that shit. He just wants to morn his wife and live in peace.
Spot on analysis, I felt the same way about it.
Good eye
John never wanted back into that life. He found love and a life outside of being an assassin and then that was taken away from him. Lost his wife, got a connection to her with the puppy, then that too was taken from him (along with his car). Man didn't even have a chance to grieve. When you lose everything and those who interrupted your life are still out there, you do what you have to do and eliminate them. I get why he went after them all. I'd have done the same in those circumstances.
@@FWDSUXARSEAlso see Caine. He also gave something away. His eyes to distance him from crime and to save his daughter. In the end The table exploited that freedom too
as you saw in the movie the harbinger also has his ring finger cut off so there is a high probability he was in a situation similar to john but instead of violating the elder he executed the deal with the elder despite his wishes and conscience (probably) because of which he eventually rose through the ranks becoming the harbinger , most importantly he admires john for actually ending up out of the clutches of the organization while offcourse paying a heavy price and also having the balls to pay that price and offcourse the entirety of the high table being scared of him .
There's a scar on his face too.
The harbinger oversees the table because real power isn't about being able to get anybody killed. It's all about who controls the distribution of krabby patties.
Yesterday, I finally got the time to sit down and binge watch all the first three John Wick movies, after seeing only some of 1 and 2 some time ago. Not only did I enjoyed the binge a lot, but I really like the world building of the franchise. Everything about the High Table organisation and its operations just feels so methodical and professional, that it really delivers well the idea that there is a secret organisation that basically manages all the assassination business across the world. What's more, the organisation, from what I've seen so far in the first three movies, dosen't wish to take over the world like Ra's Al Ghul's League of Assassins, but rather, it wishes to simply manage all the assassination businesses as professionally as possible. Moreover, I noticed that a lot of the assassins that Wick faces in the trilogy (and obviously Wick Himself) really make sure to not harm civilians when they conduct their business. It really shows that there is a great level of professionalism when it comes to many who are involved in the world of The High Table, and it's really interesting to watch🙂
The JW franchise had a lore and setting way cooler than it had any right to be, 10/10
"You give john wick 7 bullets, the high table gives you 7 days" I bet he feels sorry about not giving john wick a few cases of bullets huh?😂
nah he feels relieved when the punishment is only 7 cuts
He oso got 7 cuts cuz of the 7 bullets. So if he gave him a case of bullets, I dun think even Morpheus could survive a thousand cuts 😅😂😅
When crimes are committed it's considered an "Under the Table" activity...perfect analogy overload for this series with crimes happening under the "table" watched by the ones who sit at the "table".
The top elder looks like he might represent the Hashashin.
After watching John Wick 4, I was hoping we get John having a more longer fight against the Elder and the revolution against the High Table would happen, but after hearing somewhere that John is more like a Jesus figure that inspired to have rebels and would lead the potential of new protagonists, maybe allies or rebels of the Bowery King, to attack the High Table.
ballerina girl maybe
It will be in john wick 5 he's not dead
bruh fr since 3 i been expecting john to kill all high table or some sht
@@theinfokage4380 can't wait for Ballerine in 2024. I wonder what will that about, because John Wick is shown dead in the end of the movie. Or he's not?
Part of me always felt that the plot of John Wick 4 could've been avoided if at the end of the 3rd film John just kept his head down. Nobody save for the Bowery King (and perhaps Winston) would've known that he lived, and he could live his life free from the High Table. But instead, he had to go out and kill The Elder, thus alerting the underworld of his presence and implicating Winston, Charon, Koji, Caine, etc. Though at the same time, John Wick being John Wick, there's also no chance of him taking any of it lying down, so it's inevitable that he'd go on a warpath.
JW4 was 🔥🔥🔥 honestly can’t wait for the Spin-offs to drop
King Arthur had a round table with 12 knights actually as well it represents the cycle of earth and the 12 zodiacs
Nice catch
And the 12 Olympians
He picked 12 to mirror the Apostles of Christ. Not your gnostic nonsense.
Kojis backstory should be its own 45 minute spin off
John wick- He grieved John wick 2- He Raged John wick 3- He bargained John wick 4- He Accepted John wick 5- He's back
Hope not
As i like to watch John kicking asses. I dont want this series got treated like other movie sequel where it's became shittier in every number. Let it end on a good note
Already dead man
If he comes back in 5, everything that happened before it would be wasted.
I think the future of the High Table is really in doubt after Chapter 4, and they were so desperate to “kill the idea of John Wick”, but failed. John actually killed multiple members, and walked away victorious. Likely becoming a symbol that the Table will fear forever, and may lead to further rebellion in the future. The idea of the underworld falling into anarchy due to John Wick’s influence would be such an interesting storyline.
"Who is John Wick?"

The long runtime made some people irritated that he just wouldn't die.
A movie for the high table origin would be great
The High Table is like a cloud. You can see it. But can’t touch it.
I can never get enough of this film series. I hope they have another 4 movies. And I hope the Bowery King gets some revenge and take down the high table and replace it with themselves
Or we can just enjoy the movies that already exist and not have another beloved film series get dragged out as a dead corpse like every other franchise in hollywood
Imagine a John wick movie prequel when he used to actually work for them
Hoping for JW5 for that. At least we could see and know more about the characters past right?
@@antoniogecoso-vo6ik another movie. JW:Origins
Based on their highly theatrical and ritualistic procedures, the High Table seems to me to be some kind of feudal semi-ecclesiastic organization.
It's implied that it's descended from the order of assassins.Theory it's a merger between said order and a faction of crusader knights.
its the matrix
If I got this right, the elder is like a president. The Harbinger is the chief of staff. The adjudicator is the judicial branch. Each of the 12 families are like the legislative branch senators and the hotel managers are like state governors. The Chiron might as well be Lt governor. The different mafias (Russians in the first JW) are like County leadership. The French dude from JW 4 is VP, temporarily President elected by the senate.
John Wick should be an unlockable Mortal Kombat character. I’m glad they ended the franchise instead of run it into the ground like Fast n Furious.
I believe the reason why the Harbinger still honors the terms and conditions is because High Table duels are absolute, since this goes as far back to the CREATION of the High Table and the Underworld, where matters were settled the old fashion way, and those rules practically made the High Table as it is now. Those rules can never be broken, and no one is above them.
If it is genuinely understood to be the underworld taking care of its own business mostly contained in its own territory, and in the process taking care of countless outlaws, if I were the government, I’d say, be my guest!
I haven't seen JW4 yet, but in the first three movies there are no collateral damages. Public gunfights yes but not a single civilian is killed. This might be one of the reasons law enforcement agencies don't publicly oppose the High Table.
The John Wick franchise is one of the best action movies I have ever seen!
It always seems to me like a combination: 'La Cosa Nostra" (our thing wich is based on rules) & The Deepstate/The Elite & with even occult influences and origins..
It would be amusing/poetic for John Wick becomes the head of the High Table.
I’d love more lore about the high table and all the families and the structure because even the Russian mob in the first movie I found out aren’t even high enough to be in the table but they had a big empire so exactly how elite are the high tables organization
I agree. It started out as the high table pulling all the strings from the shadows and being discussed like their reach had no end but once John start pursuing them it seemed a little too easy? This organization is 100’s of years old but one man could cripple it? I need to know more! But I also wonder if the seats at the table are not always taken by choice. The same way John got trapped I wonder if some of the members experienced the same thing and saw John as an opportunity to get the bad apples out the way.
Beautiful. Amazing how the doggy knows its a baby protects and plays with the kid
Thank you for this background information - it helped !!
Did anyone else get the vibe that the Harbinger and the Marquess were related or otherwise close in some way? I thought it was going to be revealed that he was the Marquess' father or something
I just love how they keep us thirsty about the High Table.
I like the idea that the world of John wick is actually a kind of dystopian setting where one organization oversees everything, or at the least has a major influence on governments around the world. We normally associate dystopian futures with sci-fi and post world ending catastrophies - mad max, matrix, come to mind. But all these concepts depend on society and even natural ecosystems breaking down and gives a sense of great despair and desperation . What if it's not that extreme , but still centre around one ultra influential organization with a world reach that has it's hands in everything? it's a very interesting premise and perspective that didn't cross my mind. I've always thought that at the end of the day, the high table is still the opposite of governments and justice but in order to enjoy the movie and story for what it is, disbelief is very much suspended. But this is a very novel spin.
I love the number of series you cover!
Think of it like this each High Table member is as powerful as someone Like Kingpin from Marvel
Realistically the High Table is just whatever they need to be to give us an excuse for another sick action scene.
fun fact: the high table is so high nobody ever saw whats on the table
Great capture my friend.
I haven’t seen Chapter 4 yet. But you got my blood pumping for it. I can’t wait.
Oh heheeh I'm gonna spoil the hell out of you😈 John wick killed the newly elder Which resulted to the blame of winston for failing to kill john And possibly killed the adjudicator also The continental hotel was condemned and bomb/destroyed by the order of marquis The marquis excommunicado winston The marquis executed the concierge/charon(rip lance) They also attacked the akosa continental hotel in japan and killed the owner they fought bravely tho The bowery and winston assisted him to challenge the marquise 1v1 duel John wick go to berlin because there's no more roska Roma near him so he got to the new one John wixk was hanged and tortured until the roska roma decided to help him by killing the big fat gyy The bug fat guy wa killed by john wixk And john wixk fought his way to go to the church for deul before 6:03(sunrise) or winston would be executed and won't be reinstated as the manager He failed and fell down stairs( he fell really far💀) Caine helped him to climb and kill the enemies He 1v1 caine during the duel The marquis though john was dead so he aimed at john and then winston said " you arrogant asshole he didn't shoot" john then proceeds to shot the marquis in the head John died and was burrier next to his wife Visited by bowery king and winston Or is he dead? High Table existing in time of the Aztecs? An as far as the Elder being above the all, you would think he wouldn't be left by himself in the open desert...
In the series the adjudicator said the high table is way before the roman empire. Meaning that of their particular set of rules, the ones known, i think they came from the hammurabi's age.
So the High Table is John Wicks version of the real life council of thirteen. Okay I see..
Hello, karlee. How are you doing today?
This was supposed to be an experiment movie the producers and author of this film didnt expect they will expand the Universe that they didnt meant to Create now Even without Wick, movie fans are confused to those character who's involve in it and their Back story there's a lot more to tell on this Franchise..

The Elder is the descended of Hassan al Sabbah's family. Hassan aka The old man of Mountain who founded Hashashins or aka Assassins.
The elder was Bedouin tribe 'Hashashin', the hashish eaters. The ancient order of assassin. Maybe they took wrong path from their true originally creed after long waited for next Master Assassin 😅.
Wow loved this.😊
Excellent Analysis
The cop from JW1 was my favourite character "noise complaint"
John wick universe ...nice one man
I didn’t know Winston had a Karen for his concierge 😂😂. Give Lance the respect of pronouncing it right.
The High Table's sardaukar was one of the coolest parts of ch. 4
I watched the first three movies back to back last week and at first didn't understand why in chapter 2 apparently every man and woman in New York were assassins. I shouldn't watch 3 movies after a double shift, LOL
⚔I thought it was the last of the templar knights line. The coins made sense for the theory and its before governments. Plus they were filthy rich and killers who ran trading routes with protection🛡
Also the opening scenes in 4 make sure to show the harbinger is missing his ring finger just like john which I think suggests that harbingers are basically what you get if john had killed winston in 3 and stayed loyal to the table. This suggests that at one point the harbinger in 4 did something to break the rules and had to swear fealty to the elder.
I dont think he's dead. Bring on 5!
You don't have to say about Keanu and Donnie. The are already there. Man Scott Adkins was amazing.
Tysm❤
I need more john wick movies🙏😭😭
I think the director or actor in the movie said it was deliberate as a job to action movies where the general population doesn't even seem inconvenienced with car chases, shoot outes etc. They might jog away through the line of fire
The Hight Table was originally a group of Pirate Lords that banded together to imprison the sea goddess Calypso. They evolved into the hight table, because they always had a meeting in a table and they were mostly high
Broh
Crap, I didn’t even realize chapter 4 was out yet before I started it!
3 - Mako said if John didn't stop he wouldn't have stopped when children were around. John was orphaned, gives reason not to make child soldiers of the passing school's tour, at night, and Mako's remark as to not care of it to show there are differences in coming through up under the table?
The ninja master's name is Zero. Mako is the actor that was the voice of Aku in Samurai Jack.😃
Is the elder that powerful though? There is a brand new elder in JW4, in which I presumed the previous elder was "taken care" of for giving JW a "second chance" only to be fooled by him. The Marquis giggled when Winston muttered the word "second chance" gave me the thought of this "punishment". If so, I think even the elder is just another expendable minion that can be easily replaced by HT before his body even turn cold like how Winston described the Marquis.
Think of it like a CEO and the Board of Directors... Just my thought...
I would love to see these movie in the MSG Sphere and a few other Hollywood Premiere on the Strip.
The Harbinger also has a the same missing finger on the same hand; this suggests that said Harbinger may have much in common with John Wick? What if the Harbinger is Wick's father, but the Harbinger is forbidden to make it known to John. 🤔💭?
I dont think thats his father winston did say his family was part of the hightable but we all know that john was adopted by the bella Russia group and trained as a assassin as jordani john wick is just a fake name
Harbinger is the future of John Wick if John Wick takes the deal and kills Winston.
We can't blame John for killing that asshole on chapter 2, John paid the price but totally worth it
Isn’t the harbinger missing the same finger as John? Maybe the elder in the 3rd movie was grooming him to be the next harbinger
It was good watched it 3 times
I love the shows they are very good
Honestly, I only focused on the films, never on any external sources, so my own thought on their origin was that the High Table acts similarly to NATO. Possibly a gang war occurred in the past that was so devastating that the High Table had to be created to maintain order. Conflicts are dealt with certain protocols or traditions so escalation can be avoided. Any criminals or crime family under the table follow the rule, and any that are not would not receive the benefit, are intimidated into joining, or are eliminated. That’s why I think a lot of John’s friends are dissatisfied with the High Table, since there’s so many rules that made things more complicated to deal with. Meanwhile, Winston tries to be very lenient with the rules in his hotel since he understands the unfairness it creates.
The elder n high table ❤❤❤
Ok one thing I wanted to know in John Wick 1 why didnt Viggo send Iosef to Continental grounds and went after John Wick but someone could kindly explain why, I would listen
I always think whenever John Wick in the middle of the rampage, there isn't any civilian available and the only people present there was just High Table assasin.
10:12 John go to Tokyo to the Osaka continental?
I wonder if either Baine, The Dentist, or even Duke from PayDay 2 have ties to the high table. Perhaps Baine was once a member of the high table, but left to create Crime Net. As we see with him now President, I wonder if this'll have an effect on this organization.
This is so exciting! Maybe if the John Wick people try really hard, and make quality stuff, maybe they can make a whole universe! Ya know, like Marvel! 🙃
Can we do a video about NOMAAM from Married with Children?
I like that idea
Okay if john wick is really dead hopefully we can get at least one more film as him as John wick. On how he became the bad ass killer.

It should be noted that the elders in 3 and 4 are 2 distinct characters. Id guess the one in 3 was probably killed because he let john betray the table.

John Wick didn't find it out the hard way. He made a conscious decision. He literally tells the Bowery King that if he attacks the High Table, they'll come for him
They are kinda like The O5-council
The one who sits above the table is just the one who watches the table! We are the ones who create the table. We are the Carpenters. And we have been doing what we have been doing since the one who we followed who taught us our ways was crucified by the Romans.🤨
More High Table crime syndicates in a potential John Wick Chapter 5, Ballerina, and the potential Sofia, Caine, Akira, and Tracker/Mr. Nobody spin-off films: The Sicilian Mafia, the Ndrangheta, Russian Mafia, Chinese Triads, Japanese Yakuza, a Jewish crime syndicate, Mexican and Colombian cartels, etc. Monica Bellucci and Peter Mensah as ruthless High Table members (with Monica Bellucci also a crime lord/leader/seat holder of the Sicilian Mafia or the Ndrangheta) and antagonists in the franchise. Also it would be cool if The Elder’s real name was revealed in John Wick Chapter 3 and him being a descendant of the founder of the High Table (a fictional version of the Hashashin founder Hassan-i Sabbāh who was a powerful, badass, lethal, feared, and intelligent male Arab Muslim assassin turned crime lord named Ali and the very first Elder with dagger, sword, stealth, strategy, and combat skills) while The Elder is only a title that is passed down from generation to generation to the current leader of the High Table and also the current leader/seat holder of a Arab Muslim crime syndicate (the first seat of the High Table which Ali was the leader of).
