Let me tell you something, even without Essien, the boys were 100% convinced they were going to lift the cup, and believe you me Ghana would have had it not been for 'glory seeking' Asamoah Gyan! Appiah as the national team captain took the ball to take the pen only for Gyan to take it off him.. don't wanna got too much into it but trust this is what really happened!! Meanwhile Ghana were going to give Holland a hiding in the semis(they had played Holland in pre world cup friendly losing 4-1 with an experimental side/tactics) the boys couldn't wait for that game.. BTW, Essien could have gone to the WC but chose advise of Chelsea team doctors after he had just recovered from a bad knee injury, he would have been available for the KO stages.. could have, should have.. still hurts BADLY!!!

Involuntary doesn't matter, Kewell stopped a certain goal on the goal line with his arm, that's a red and a clear penalty.

Disgraceful referee-ing for the handball. The rules specifically state that if a handball is not deliberate, it cannot be a foul, let alone a red card! Kewell was clearly moving his arm back closer to his body, Horrific reffing.
Unfortunately I think the rules back then was that any denial of an obvious goal opportunity was an automatic red card.
