This show literally only gets crazier
My favorite moment is where Payson decided not to take drugs as a moral statement and then immediately broke her spine on national tv. Not sure what message the writers wanted to send there 😅

Then they had her in that contraption going to public highschool. The writers hated Payson at that point 😂
If she wanted to continue competing she needed to take those drugs but how she got them was illegal. She should have just gotten a prescription but her mother was not allowing her to take any more. I don't think Payson's mother knew how dangerous that sport is if you are in constant pain. IMO if she is not going to take the medication then she should sit out until she is healed. In the movie "The Martian" starring Matt Damon, his character has to perform complex tasks each day so he can survive on Mars while on a very low-calorie diet, due to food being in very limited supply. There is a scene in which he crushes up some Vicodin into his food. I don't see him as abusing drugs but instead using them as a tool for survival. Being on calorie restriction while trying to survive on Mars is extremely dangerous and any mistake can cost him his life.

I could fully understand the message that the writers wanted to send. She should have taken the drug at this point, it was a big competition for her with the stress of winning and her not giving her back porper time to rest and heal, she need that drug at that point, her not taking the drug will do more harm than good. If she just gave ther back the proper healing and rest she needed, she would have a different income. If she threw away the drugs, she should have atleast told Sasha she wouldn't be about to complete in the final around, she wouldn't have won but atleast she would have made the national team and wouldn't have gotten injury. Even if the drugs she was taking was illegal but how she got those drugs were illegal, which is one of the reasons why Payson felt bad about taking it, since she was going behind her parents back, when her parents have been nothing but supported and understanding.
the scene where emily went to jail for stealing medication for her brother while lauren's rich family was happily eating dinner in the next scene radicalized me at a young age.

This is one of my fave shows ever, but one thing that kind of bothers me is that Lauren could have killed Emily with the vault thing, and it just got swept under the rug.

I love the cortisone plot line because it's a medicine that is administered by injecting into the affected joint, and the effects aren't felt for around five days. So unless Payson was going to travel back in time and stab a needle into her own spine without paralyzing herself, the drama about a last minute decision not to take it makes no sense

In college I got to live my Make It Or Break It dream and do a full handstand on a keg. I am proud to say that everyone was amazed lol Thankfully it was indoors and the ceiling was low enough that I could plant my feet on it and support myself. Not sure I could have done it with no support!

The hold that MIOBI, secret life of the american teenager, and PLL had on me in my teen years is unmatched. I have rewatched these shows so many times and honestly the drama of MIOBI is still one of the best lol

If you could do this format with the show Bunheads. I don't know why but I adored it at the time and was like why are you cancelling my favorite. It was about a group of ballerinas being taught by the amazing Sutton Foster. It definitely fits into the category of forgotten teen dramas.
It was and i think it potential to become something really great.
I just came across it on Hulu and had to comment as i didn't know anyone who watched it. Like it doesn't make much sense plotwise and I don't particularly care for any of the characters much but still binged the first half lol. Maybe because there's no nostalgia for me, but I found myself pushing thru to watch because it was so frustratingly 2010s teen drama which I just craved. Would be interesting to hear someone else's pov on it as im so confused by it 🤣
I really loved Bunheads but it seemed like Gilmore Girls rip-off (hello Amy Sherman-Palladino). But as I rewatched it last year I realized I don’t care about the girls, the plot doesn’t make sense, it’s just Sutton Foster and Kelly Bishop scenes I care about and Alan Ruck in pilot episode. Because they gave a master class in comedy. As for the kids plot lines… meh

Looking back I don't know how the girls could be friends with Lauren. She was a horrible person and was no friend to any of the girls. Getting with her best friend's boyfriend and not feeling bad about it, and even tried to break them up. The stunt she did with Emily, could have ruined her career and gotten her seriously killed. Then humiliated Payson with the kiss with Sasha. She never suffer any real conscience for her action compared to Emily and Carter who were kicked out of the gym.
Also wow I forgot how insane abcfamily was w the abstinence and purity culture during the 2010s. It's nice that they switched to freeform because there's actually a couple of good shows on there now - highly recommend Single Drunk Female to anyone

I stayed up wayyyy too late last night watching this WHOLE thing. This show ticked almost all the boxes for me. Pettiness, drama, and GYMNASTICS. I remember when it went away and I think fans made such a fuss they had to bring it back for closure. I hope you do the other seasons, too. sidenote: I always thought the actress who played Kelly Parker was so pretty also also: Payson Keeler is that b****. She is an icon. She is the moment.

I used to love this show! apart from the iconic cartwheeling scene, one other scene I always think of when this show is brought is Kaylie's floor routine to 'One More' at the world championships. I love that scene, but as a gymnastics fan it was also funny because they used floor music with lyrics (a big no no) and Kaylie only did 2 tumbling passes (which is fine, they're allowed to do upto 4 passes, but a 2 pass routine would definitely not score as well as a 4 pass routine) also I think that 'iconic brown girl bully' is Vicky from The Good Place lmao

finally someone makes a video about this. This show was one of my favorite growing up, since I don't live in the US, I used to watch it on cable which makes it difficult to keep up with the episodes and I skip one or two, never watched the finale. So, I've been trying to re-watch it again but when searching I just find a lot of scam websites full of ads and malware. If anyone knows where I could stream it, I will be grateful.
