"We Are A LAUGHING STOCK!" - Home Office Loses Contact With Thousands Of Migrants Set For Rwanda
Asylum seekers who have stopped reporting to the Home Office after being earmarked for deportation to Rwanda “will be found”, a Cabinet minister has said.
According to a Government document, only 2,143 out of the 5,700 people identified for removal to the East African nation “continue to report to the Home Office and can be located for detention”.
On Tuesday, Health Secretary Victoria Atkins told Sky News that the Home Office is “used to this” and law enforcement agencies have “a range of measures” to find and remove people who are not reporting as required.
She said: “We want the message to go out loud and clear that if somebody doesn’t report as they should do, they shouldn’t think that they’ll get away with it. They will be found.”
The figures come from an impact assessment of the Government’s Migration and Economic Development Partnership with Rwanda, under which the UK has agreed to pay Kigali to take asylum seekers who have crossed the Channel in small boats.

You must make your asylum application online from outside the UK. You may only come to the UK with an official invitation. Anyone found attempting to enter the UK without an invitation will be detained, fingerprinted, deported and automatically lose the right to have any future asylum application considered.

If I was poor and living in Rwanda or a country close by I would be heading this way. 3 grand and full board for five years, after this I would come back to the UK again and claim another five years.

@@timq8470 they would stop coming because instead of being escorted into Dover and accommodated, they would be returned to France immediately for attempting to enter the country illegally. The law should also require Border Force to remove all valuables from such offenders, as a form of fine for breaking the law, just as airlines are fined for flying people with insufficient documentation into a country. at the moment, entering UK waters to claim asylum is legal. so, just make it illegal.

Asylum seekers should never be given the results of their application by post. If each were given the result of their application in person, then detention would be easily enforceable.

We are a laughing stock as a country. It's been a political choice not to deal with immigration both legal and illegal. You tackle illegal immigration by stop making it so appealing. Here's what you do step by step 1. You build detention centres, disused army barracks, build new army barracks. 2. You are not allowed to leave those centers until your case has been decided 3. Apon arrival DNA, fingerprints etc would be taken refusal would mean immediate deportation to a safe country and rejection of your asylum application. The data would be stored on a system and if you try to enter again in future you would be immediately be deported. Those who qualify for asylum would be removed from the system. 4. Any forum of violence will lead to a immediate dismissal of your case and a immediate block on any other attempt 5. You get a fold up single bed in the same room as your sex those with kids get a room specifically for family's 6. You would have access to communal only phone's, pcs etc 7. Access to water only no drink, pop etc 8. Food is served in a communal area only 9. There be given access to 7 day's of free clothes bought from charity shops excluding underwear. 10. Communal leasure activities 11. Each non English speaker has to learn English to qualify to stay 12. Should you be allowed to stay for the next 10 year's you would be required to contribute back into the system higher tax rate and make you ineligible for benefits 13. Those refused would be sent to a safe country and put on a list for a immediate block 14. Those on the block list would face immediate deportation to the safe country 15. Should your asylum application be successful you would be free to leave the compound and stay within the UK boarders. You would be given a national insurance number. 16. You could register for social housing but you wouldn't be treated no worse or better off then British people. 17. You would have access to benefits for 1 year to set up your life up after which you would become ineligible until the 10 year deadline ends and be required to work

This is the very reason, that all illegal immigrants should be homed in a detention centre until their claim has been processed, they should not be just allowed to disperse into the Community, it’s dangerous, and the government/home office lose track of them!!

People are forgetting that long, long before the "small boats crisis" there were estimates in the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants & visa overstayers already in the UK and lost in the system. And even more recently, when the boats used to arrive before dawn and everyone would leg it. The ones in this report are just the ones that they were able to count.

Think about it. This is great news! 1. They were not in detention centres, nor are they implanted with trackers, and we do not live in a police state, which is precluded by many laws, so there were few options available to stop absconding, but do we really care.....? 2. It either means they have fled to Ireland or France, so are no longer our problem. Or they went into hiding to raise money or contemplate their options, which will only be fleeing to Ireland or France. They cannot undertake most work, get married, raise children in the UK, gain a pension, access the NHS, etc, so they will realise they have no future here. 3. If they formally withdraw their request and flee to the EU, it will undermine their asylum application there. 4. Whatever they choose, it means the UK is no longer paying for their accommodation nor benefits nor for future costly legal cases fighting their deportation. 5. And there are hundreds of thousands, which will take years to deport and cost us more in payments to Rwanda. In short, we want them all the economic migrants to abscond and flee back to the EU, as it is the cheapest and quickest resolution. We should be cheering.

The entire system needs complete reform the home office if it remains the department responsible needs better equipment, better modernised training, and more staff, not to mention better more effective vetting processes. If the person is not a genuine refugee then its not a breach of article 3 of ECHR or Articles, 31 and 33 of the 1951 convention to return them home.

Home office like every other department needs massive reform. It's broken they can't cope with the amount of people who have come here & it's not fit for purpose. Every department needs to change & that's never going to happen therefore don't expect positive changes be it labour or Tories.
