I always loved super hero stuff but never really read comics so I don’t know who a lot of the more obscure parts of marvel characters like the black knight
I love how you can actually categorize the Phases of Marvel now. First we had the primary 3 heroes leading into the first avengers movie. Then we get the supplementary characters and side crew characters. Then we got introduced to magic and time travel. Now we’re getting the Multiverse and Supernatural aspects. God I cannot wait to see what they do next!!!

I love how everyone just ignores that just that hand coming out of the water would cause super tsunamis around the world and practically kill everything by its self.
Maybe initially waves would form, but don't forget your 'coming out' part, water levels would decrease not increase, huge amount of mass got above sea level, it would suck the water back. Either way, it would not kill most things, let alone everything, your everything is tiny.
Thats if the earth was round. Marvels earth is flat.

A few tsunamis maybe but since it's coming out the water, and not falling in. Less damage than you'd think.
@@AyoJayArr i think the likehood of a tsunami being formed by something falling into the water is lower. The scary thing about tsunamis is that it isn't just a big wave, it's a wave that doesn't lose momentum until it hits the land, and that happens because the way the sea floor gets dislocated.

I believe we'll be seeing a lot more of blade in the near future, Mobius is just the start. We're going to be having vampires in the MCU, of course blade the most famous Marvel vampire Hunter will be there. Maybe not right away but he's coming I know it. It was already implied in the movie though. People can’t make proper connections tbh. Thena had a similar conversation with Phastos’ son. Plus each Eternal shares a name and/or “concepts” with legends from various mythologies and folklore. The icarus flew too close to the sun scene was funny remembering how Sersi and Ikaris’ relationship ended and the shit that can be spoken behind an ex lover’s back

Sprite is actually right about gods in the MCU, since all the "gods" we've seen so far aren't actually gods, just highly advanced aliens. Of course, if the One Above All, the equivalent to "God" in the Marvel Universe, exists in the MCU, then she may not know about him.

They should have focused on scenes like this, with the Eternals/Celestials connection throughout human history and focus more on character development in the first movie. The whole Deviants and Emergence should have been added in the second possibly even third movie.
Makes sense. Its like releasing avengers without any of the individual character movies from spiderman, hulk, thor, ironman, capt america to dr strange. Didnt find the characters of eternals as appealing as of avengers. Also the directors are different it might have effected the storyline and buildup. The more appealing character with powers Icaris also died at the end. 😅

Why do we need these fillers where I can already sense the chemistry between the characters interactions and know what they are talking about. They introduced them, show what they did through the centuries, their conflict, etc. what else is needed? A laughing track?

I wish we had had more scenes in the National History Museum. It's a really incredible building and my personal favourite of all the big museums in London. Seeing more of the displays would have been fantastic, although it's nice seeing some of the familiar ones,. Although sticking a random dinosaurs skull in one of the Bird rooms is a bit odd. They are in different parts of the museum! Birds is next to the fossil room though so maybe. It's very credible for Dean to think Sprite is just making up stories, the museum tends to inspire the imagination as well as educate. The worst bit about this scene is the bit were he touches (shakes) the bid skeleton. No way does a professional do that because it would be much more fragile. Obviously they wanted it like that in the script so they've used a prop, but it is noticeable that its not a real skeleton because its a glossy/brighter colour than the other bones. I'm sure most people wouldn't notice that though.

While i love the: Ikoris flying too close to the sun metaphor, originally, he was afraid and flew too low. Water clogged his wings and he fell into the sea. In the retelling it was flipped to: he flew too close to the sun, as in stay in your social station. (Also, higher you go, colder it gets. The Greeks knew this as well)
Imagine if Gilgamesh was still alive and knew about the truth behind Ajak's death at the hand of a deviant, purposely caused by Ikaris. Gil trusted him and looked at what he did. Ikaris would have been beaten to death by Gil. I guess that's why Ikaris baits Gil into fighting the deviant boss till death to avoid the fight between him and Gil, because he knows he doesn't stand a chance against Gil
But then the movie wouldn’t happen

People dont seem to understand what the term God means, we've seen them all Bleed too, which means they arent Gods.
Eternals was so rad! All the characters were so fun and felt alive. Thus scene doesn't work because its implied that Sprite has known and been around Dane and Xerxe as they've been courting and at the moment if the film dating seriously. But now the ending graphics make sense. I was wondering where those statues were in the film. And its implied that xerxe literally has loved humans after Icarus, she was dating and loving on humans. Which is how she learned so much about them, ultimately, will allow Arishem to see the earth as she did, and as Ajax narrated the film.

@@Userjdjddss its basically MCU's Bible (or sacred text of genesis') that's why the film opens with written words ala star wars crawl. So its meant to be slower build in the millenia that the film takes place to the implications for the future and the entirety of existence, from simple beginnings, and simple even in thought or community. I'll agree that Gemma Chan isn't the best protagonist ever, but I assume she's meant to be our cipher, which is why she's the cultured independent woman we meet in contemporary day. As well as, that Ajax is the one narrating the story to us, but it wasn't ever told to Sersei. The whole bit with the memories and the little ball were confusing if you conflate the two different concepts. It's a great movie. Star trek discovery should take notes.

dane did not know his full family lineage, Cersie told him to go ask his uncle and that's why he was going to tell her about what he learned at the end of the movie. I think he always knew there was something interesting about his ancestors but he definitely did not know the whole thing
also merlin did not directly create the ebony blade, a group of "witches" created Excalibur and needed to purge it of any darkness or chaos so they created the ebony blade or chaos the doombringer with all of the darkness taken from Excalibur. Sorry a bit of a black knight buff.

i think this was an experiment on bringing teams in and not individual characters. this was in preparation for the Fantastic 4 and most importantly, the XMEN.

Could Sprite be a Young Avenger? She seems to fit that situation. She can age herself, so it wouldn't be difficult to fit in. Having powers in the MCU isn't out of place any more.
Isn't she human now? An avenger without powers isn't unheard of but she didn't show signs of any skills other than her illusion powers (which should be gone now).

I had just watched this trailer about an hour before this. Very interesting, it does round out these two characters somewhat. Funny thing, in the show Supernatural the Norse gods were a separate thing from all of the other gods (like the greek, roman, hindu, etc.), they follow their own reality basically. But I know that the greek/roman gods are a thing in the Marvel 'verse. Interesting stuff, thanks Charlie!

I feel like this movie could strongly use a directors cut. Gimme a 5 hour movie like Chloe clearly wanted. I want more time for these characters and feelings to digest before they turn a fucking celestial into a fucking rock.
I was telling my wife the other day that Disney should've put 5 hours+ on Disney plus instead of putting it in the theaters. Then should've made a huge conflict 2 hours come together movie in the theaters.
It did fill almost 3 hours though. An extended runtime would be great, but as it stands I still enjoyed the Lore and movie as is. Maybe they're keeping the rest for the second movie? 🤔.

@@nolanpeters5462 Well theaters aren't really my thing anyway. I also feel like more and more companies are moving over to streaming. It might take a while for complete integration. But this whole covid situation greatly increased the use of the internet and it's services. I didn’t care much about the Eternals at first, still don't really, however, I do care about the Celestials. Their designs, their abilities and how to go about fighting them, intrigues me just enough to watch a sequel.

Watched it for the first time today, and I feel like they tried to cram too much into a single movie format. All these wonderful MCU mini series on Disney+, and the one that really needed it most was condensed into two and a half hours of rushed action scenes and slogging exposition. It was a beautiful concept, and you can tell there's so much more to these characters, but with it being an ensemble cast, they should have taken the time to delve into each character more, because it would have made the audience feel more of a connection to them. I wasn't upset when any one of them died, I wanted to empathize with Phastos or Thena or Spryte, but there wasn't enough time. And the love triangle between Sersei, Icarus, and Dane Whitman was barely fleshed out at all, so the romance between those characters didn't feel believable. I wanted to like this movie as I'm such a fan of these actors in other projects, but this did not showcase the best of their abilities, and it resulted in a boring film about the world cracking open like a Kinder egg - how can a story like THAT be dull??!!
I enjoyed the movie, but I agree, all of the characters were rushed out of necessity. This would have been perfect for a 13 episode Disney+ Series with an intro episode, an episode for each character, and a couple finale episodes where the final conflict is introduced then brought to its conclusion. The movie works fine on its own, but it just feels flat and like you said, it is difficult to feel for any of the characters.
This movie definitely should have been a 6 hours+ series on Disney plus. Or a 5-6 hr long movie cut up into two parts on Disney plus. Anything but the crammed mess we got. The characters lack depth. They needed time to be fleshed out. There was also a lack of chemistry between the group. It was hard for me to believe that all these characters spent thousands of years together like a family when it felt like half of them were almost strangers to each other. We got no proper dynamics. I don't know if it was the writing or the cast itself or both, but there was a serious lack of group chemistry. Compare them to GotG who, within minutes, developed it. I hope Marvel learns from the Eternals debacle for when they do Fantastic 4, the X-Men, and other ensemble teams.
It was done so smoothly for a movie. That's why it is not a series. Anyway, we had one of those students in our class who needed more time to either understand or enjoyed too much of the subject that we had to cut short on our recess or stay late at school, just because of either his stupidity or over enthusiasm. Eternal gave me what I wanted and I'll be glad to see a breakdown of the characters in the next part or in the next disney+ marvel series of Eternal.
I can't wait for Kit's movie! Just to see him weilding a sword again is enough to bring a smile to my face!

Just finished the movie amazing. Didn't realize bout the Got reunion or anything. For a moment Ikaris or the actor playing him thought that's Winter Soilder. Sersi is seriously gorgeous & Jon Snow actor playing a knight can't wait to see more of em
I feel like the earthquake during endgame would've been tiamut settling down, not reaching another step. If in infinity war they're a week away, why does tiamut not just burst out a week after endgame? Because the amount of intelligent life was beneath the threshold to begin awakening him, so he slowly winds down

I just watched the externals and I liked it! Sprite was a complex character. Yeah you live forever but the Greek gods were always childish and deeply flawed. Icarus hurting his family and the people he loved was the ultimate sin for him. The guilt was too much. And the Merlin being the supreme is cool AF I want more dark supernatural stuff

I liked the scale of everything as well as the concept, but I found most of the characters lacking. As well as the development involving their connections to humans and one another. It should have been a mini-series, imo. I was honestly so excited for it, but once I saw it was a movie and that they were dealing with so many characters all at once, I knew it wasn't going to be impactful in terms of the characters. And the I think the characters are what make a break MCU movies. All of the Avengers, for instance. I wish we had substantial time with all of the Eternals (especially Makkari, Ikarus and Ajek, we barely got to know them).

The audience score is pretty good. I think it was the pandemic and the marketing. The marketing made it seem like another generic marvel movie and it most certainly isnt. I just hope marvel doesnt give up on the property.

i just saw it. went to bed half way through, and finished it minutes ago. It felt like a movie with no stakes, similar to venom 2. We know they are gonna win and I felt no connection to any of the characters.

I thought it was great, and I knew it would take at least an entire movie, and still could have so much more back story to fill in, to have done the initial Eternals movie in any other fashion or to start to show their story in other Marvel character stories, well, they would be tied to certain characters or storylines by the public from that point on.

I got the sense he didn’t know his family background until Sersi told him to make peace with his uncle. I assumed that is when he found out about the family and received the black sword. The ring tells me Sersi May have known his lineage.

I liked Eternals, it was fun, action packed and setup an exciting list of new characters and plot lines...pretty great if you take it for what it is..

I actually liked this one. It gets quite deep if you think about it a tiny bit more carefully. After seeing the new films this year and Eternals again, I see how it's going a little bit. They're expanding the topic of 'creatures' in MCU like 'gods', Eternals, the races of supernatural aliens, supernatural humans, lately probably mutants. I can't wait to see how they're gonna blend them in the next projects.
The director should have kept the scene in the movie. Overall I enjoyed the film. I gave it an 8 of 10.
8 is a pretty high rating. 5 is average and this felt below the mcu average. More like a 4 imo
Eternals would have been a great movie to do one of those LOTR style extended cuts with all the deleted/extra scenes included. Get all the elaborate backstories.

"Tiamat" is the name of a female Goddess from Mesopotamian myths. They are shifting some of the Marvel characters from male to female to be more inclusive, so I rather doubt the "Tiamut" of the movie is male. Tiamat was the Goddess of the primordial sea, and was said to represent both the maternal nature of the oceans (as first life bringers), and also the destructive and chaotic nature of the oceans. All of which is hinted at in the movie itself, as Tiamut was to "bring about more life" (as all Celestials do), and also was to destroy the Earth in her birth. Also, she emerged in the Indian Ocean, connecting her back to the Mesopotamian Goddess' myths.
Unrelated to the black night but if you listen very closely at the star fox mid credit scene, when he pulled the orb out, I think it was making the same sound as the rings from Shang-chi when they were acting as a beacon
