Being an interpreter for a wedding seems like such a big responsibility, but also SO rewarding. Thrilled for everyone involved
I miss seeing your videos as of late. I have watched most of them and really admire the two of you. I do hope everything is okay.
Hey Mary, everything is great with us! Thank you for your kind comment. We hope you are doing well too ❤️
@@SignDuoChannel why you are not posting?
@@SignDuoChannel whens are you gonna post again?
@elgaragedeelpibe6117 @SignDuoChannel This is a valid question. If you're not going to produce videos anymore, at least, make a video explaining it. You have built a community of people who genuinely love and care for you both. Through watching your videos we got to know you and you lives. It would be a common courtesy to at least drop a 3 minute video saying that you're not going to create them anymore.
@@SmoKeYJoE024 Fr! Please post moreeeee we miss you a lot
I took an undergrad class that was taught by a deaf professor. There was an interpreter for him and an interpreter for us, the students. It was one of my favorite classes!
that's legit the coolest thing to experience??? what class was it??
@@jenothegrinch2130 it was Introduction to Special Education
That sounds cool! How come there were two interpreters? What was each of of them’s role?
@@08angelluver On interpreter just focused on interpreting our verbal speech and another watched his signs and audibly spoke what he was signing.
@@annamarielecomte Oh ok I see, cool!
I love that you look into his eyes when he’s signing and not his hands. It’s like you take in the whole body language and read it with his eyes and the rest is secondary.
When will a new video be out? Is everything OK? Has the wedding happened yet,? Wishing you both good wishes. Muss seeing videos of you guys. I'm sure everyone else is too.
Miss you guys! Hope you’re living the best life possible 💞

The way you two look at each other is magical :')) I'm so happy for you both.
very excited for the both of you looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for you both.
I don't know if it would work for you guys, but I've seen some people put their vows on a slideshow. It might be a good way to unite the two families because they can all read even if they don't speak the same language.
That's a good idea, or I was thinking they could just print both out and include them inside the wedding program.
Literally both of the ideas I was gonna come here to say, only thing is if it was on a slideshow, it might sometimes be blocked and people will have difficulties seeing but printing them out would be really cool
I was SO excited when I saw that this video was up this morning! I've loved watching your videos over the years and you guys are the reason I decided to learn ASL at college. Congrats on your engagement, I'm sure the wedding will be beautiful!
Im so proud of you guys Congratulations!!! Wishing you a happy wedding and many more years to come
Congratulations!!!! I'm glad I tuned in. Was thinking I hadn't seen your videos lately and this was the first search result. So excited for you both to continue on your journey and celebrate this milestone with all of your loved ones.
Congratulations on your engagement! I love the idea of having interpreters for your guests so that they can all understand the vows you share with one another. Wishing you many, many happy and loving years together.
Congrats guys! I've been watching you for years now, and I'm actually minoring in ASL right now because you inspired me! Wishing you all the happiness in your future!
All good ideas! I never thought of having too many decorations blocking sight lines for people to see everything clearly. Congratulations to both of you! 🥰
Love you guys! Been subscribed since the beginning of my ASL journey, so for the last 3 years. Now I’m almost into my final year of my ITP and your videos are great for interpreting practice. I just turn off the sound and the captions and practice my voicing. So thanks for that. :) I’m so happy for you and wish you the best! Can’t wait for more updates!
I started watching you guys before I even took my first sign class. I am now on my 5th year of studying interpreting and I haven't seen one of your videos in a looonggg time. It was so great to be able to fully understand Ryan without the captions!! Congrats you guys!!
So exciting to be planning it all out! 💕 I have no doubt your ceremony and reception will represent you both. Also, Ellen, your nail polish 💅🏽 is 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
His facial expressions are priceless. Love his eyes. You're both fantastic
Thanks 😊
CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉🎉 You two inspired me to go further in learning asl.. and now I know how to sign on my own and can communicate to a deaf person..
Congrats on the engagement guys and I wish you all the best! I also love that you guys are sharing this for maybe other deaf/hearing couples who may get married need help on how they would want to this their weeding as well.
As an interpreter, I love interpreting weddings. It's so much fun & you have the opportunity to meet more of the guests than most times gathering together like that. :)
I love watching your videos for so many reasons! You are both so sweet! I also love seeing my hometown on display! You give me new places to go check out when I am in town too!
I just discovered channel and have been watching your past videos and just now noticed you haven’t updated in a while. So I hope you are doing well even tho I’m new to your channel! Your communication ability really just shows how you can understand your loved ones in ways that you don’t even need words or even signs to say or show. You have your own ways of communicating and understand each and are willing to work out all the kinks that happen. As all people do even if they both are hearing, communication goes beyond just speaking the same language and hearing! I love seeing the connection between you too. You communicate better then my own family which says a lot. It reminds me of how my mom and sister are always fighting and have terrible communication but I somehow am able to understand her without even words or tone of voice. Like you’ve said it a previous video, it’s all about learning facial expressions, and phrases they say and knowing how they react and just are as a person. That’s how you truly understand someone. Just basic speaking communication doesn’t always come across easily between people cause they don’t understand each other as you do with your friends and loved ones. I mean even people with disabilities and comprehension skills have barriers to communication, and to understand them and communicate you have learn how to speak or understand their way of expressing what they feel and want to say. I find very rude and strange for people to ask why anyone would date someone or be with someone who’s deaf, like that is basically saying they are too much work why would you want to be someone who is harder to communicate with. You could say that about any trait in my opinion of a person. Why are you dating them they aren’t very bright, they are very short tempered, they have a terminal illness, they have a crappy family etc. obviously you will be with someone if you want to be with them. If you love each other or find happiness that you would rather deal with difficulties other people might not have, rather than be without it. Your gonna be with that Person and it will work if you want it too or let it. I’m sorry that was an entire essay for no reason. But I hope you update sometime even if it’s just a short clip of Java and you two saying Hello or telling us if you are planning on taking a break from KZhead or focusing on other things for now on or just what you’re up to
I'm so excited for the wedding!!! I hope you will share some footage in one of your videos of your special day so we can all celebrate with you!! Wishing you both all of the best in your lifetime adventure!! ❤️
My mom and dad were a hearing and deaf couple. Just found this channel. I am going to watch the crap out of it! My mother and dad were troopers! And so are you guys. This is beautiful
A Big CONGRATS to you both on your engagement. May your years together, bring you lots of memories, lots of smiles and most importantly lots of happiness :)
Love the videos, watching you both sign in these videos helps me a lot with learning ASL! Hope you’re both doing well
Because of your videos I’m taking ASL classes in college and now can hold basic conversations in sign. It’s very useful especially at my job in restaurants because I can create a more welcoming environment for deaf or hard of hearing customers. Thank you guys so much for inspiring me to take ASL classes❤❤
It’s great to see how you guys know how to give and take.
Still no word from you guys. Really hope everything's okay. Miss your videos.
Hi Sign Duo! I just started watching your channel a few weeks ago and have been watching to help me practice sign language. I've been watching KZhead videos to learn finger spelling and expand my ASL vocabulary. I don't have anyone to practice with so it helps me a great deal to watch you sign. I've been wanting to learn for so long and have committed myself this year to learn as much as I can. I don't know anyone from the deaf community but I've worked in a museum and was really frustrated that I could not communicate well with a non-hearing guest. I could barely finger spell at the time but they appreciated my effort. Congratulations on your engagement. I think you're a lovely couple and wish you all the best. And Java is adorable!
Omg, I’m so excited for you two! What a wonderful partnership! I wish you both all the happiness in the world and so look forward to more videos (as you can fit them in of course, understanding that you’re very busy 🙂).Thank you for sharing of yourselves with us, it’s been a blessing for me.
Congratulations on your engagement!! Such an exciting time for you both. I hope wedding planning is an enjoyable process and everything works out beautifully without too much stress. 💕
I miss your videos guys, I hope you are doing well.. please come back on KZhead and if anyone knows a platform they use more often let us know! Love xx
Congratulations on the engagement!! I just wanted to mention that my Language & Culture graduate course is covering deafness as a disability and Deaf culture (for context, I’m studying TESL), and that I recommended your channel as being extremely helpful and educational. I love how, Ellen, you brought up bilingualism with regards to ASL. I feel like a lot of people just think it’s spoken English but signed, when in actuality, it’s its own language! Anyway, I just wanted to comment about how fantastic your videos are and how wonderful you two are together. Best wishes for the future!!
Bring these videos back!! Hope you two are well
so great you two!!! Appreciate the update...I am a little behind the times here but glad I saw this today:) You guys are adorable.
I thought about maybe Ryans mom being the interpreter since that’s what she does as a suggestion, but then I thought, no b/c she would probably want to just be there in the moment and enjoy the experience of her son and new daughter-in-law 😊❤️
And being an interpreter I’m sure she has colleagues that could interpret

I just wanted to say THANK YOU GUYS!! I have been watching you guys for about 2 years now. I stumbled across your videos and fell in love with you guys and with sign language. I am 40 years old and I have decided to go back to school after 20+ years. I am currently taking ASL 201 and hope to pursue a new career in ASL. Congratulations!! I am really happy for you two. On a different topic: What about you two interviewing Ryan's mom about her experiences? Her take on how to sensitize and educate hearing folks to communicate better with deaf folks. How about interviewing a teacher from your school ? What did they learn and do differently because they had you in their class. Thank you.

I remember learning asl at home during covid and then coming upon this couple and they were amazing. They taught me that I could read a bit without having to use captions or anything. My favorite couple and I’m so happy they are engaged. I wanted to learn because I wanted to expand that side of language where not everyone learns and not everyone doesn’t know who they’ll bump into but I am hoping they will post soon :)

It’s so nice to see a bilingual couple sharing their thought process on this. It is an extra challenge that most people don’t have, but you’re doing a great job of explaining your thought process and making it inclusive for all of your attendees
I love following you guys. I am so excited for you both❤️
I’m so excited for you both! One of the things I like about your videos is how they are actively engaging - I’ve gotta watch the captions, and the signs, and Ryan’s face for additional cues - all at the same time. His eyes are so expressive! I can see why Ellen was captivated by them. Also, the casual tone of your presentation makes me feel like I’m catching up with good friends. That’s why it’s so special that you’re sharing your wedding planning process with us! This is such a magical time in your journey together. Blessings to you both! I’ve got lots of questions about the wedding - are there any wedding traditions in the hearing community, that deaf folks don’t bother with? Besides the interpreters (which would be a welcome addition to any bilingual wedding) are there any other things that might be different from when hearing folks get married? For example, can you tell us about what kinds of music and dancing you might have? My cousin is deaf and when she invites her friends to family parties, the scene is LIT! I’m just wondering what kinds of groovy vibrations you’ve got planned.
Yay congratulations to both of you and it is a good idea to use an interpreter for the vows
