Hi people, in today’s video I show my journey with cash stuffing. I tried this budgeting and saving technique for a month and I will give you full insight into my finances. Hope you enjoy! X.

  • I've started cash budgeting too. There is a big community of cash budgeters on YT. I leave my bills in the bank and withdraw the rest out and split it into 4 weeks for the month. So groceries, fuel, spends etc. If I want something online I'll go out the cash in the bank, that way it gives me time to really think whether I want the item or not. I have a purse with the envelopes that I take out with me , that way I dont have to do it all when I get home .

    • It is a really handy tool to keep on top of your spending I have noticed! It’s a good idea to take the entire purse with envelopes to the store, but I find that I buy a lot of items at one store that are from different budgets so I would still net to balance the checks so to say when I get back home. I don’t mind though, I quite like doing it!

  • Cool that this worked for you :) I think I am going to try some of it, too. Cash is still very common in Germany, so I guess this is not going to be an issue ...

    • Yes, I noticed that in Germany. Some places didn’t even offer card payment, almost got me in trouble once 😂! I ended up having enough change for my bubble tea so turned out fine. So interesting that just across the border the situation is totally opposite. I really recommend trying this out! I hope it will be as eye opening and as successful for you as it was for me, or more so! Let me know how it goes

    • I partially cash stuff some of my sinking funds, variable spending and personal spending. The rest is digital. But I budget and track every penny. It's second nature.

  • Budgeting is individual. You will find what works for you. And it's ok if something doesn't work and you need to change amounts. Budgeting is also fluid and may need to change month to month. 😊

    • @@hazelbluealroy1471 You're welcome. 🙂 A lot of people navigate budgeting in that way. It's hard to see people think they failed when they didn't. Myself included. Life changes daily and with those changes your budget may be affected. It's a continual learning process. Also what works for someone else may not work for you and that's ok. It doesn't mean you failed or you're not doing it right. It just means it doesn't work for you right now.

    • @@z_123 you’re absolutely right! And I should remind myself of that more often and change my mindset into this because I do think it would help me improve my life way better than always thinking I failed. Thank you for your comments!

  • Cash savings one month is not long enough, give it 6 months my biggest tip is, 50% of pay into fixed expenses, 25% flexible expenses/ future expenses, 25 % pay yourself keep adding envelopes for everything, friends birthdays, holidays, etc I put 5$ or less every paycheck, it really adds up also pay it later options still affect your credit score. I tried the 100 envelopes was my first try in savings in cash. I was so tough but worth it, saved 1000$ in 6 months People do digital cash stuffing with prompt money but its not as effective as the holding cash. KEEP GOING GIRL !!!

    • I will keep going for sure! I’m obsessed 😂 and I will work towards that 10.000€ goal 💪🏼 And I am sure you will do really well with your savings journey as well! I hope to one day be able to do the 50/25/25, but right now with my income it just is not possible. Cost of living crisis is killing. But, I just got a job offer that’s going to seriously increase my income so we’re on the up and up ♥️ The thing about pay later features in my country is that they actually negatively affect your ‘credit score’ or my country’s equivalent, so I really gotta steer clear of that! Thank you for your comment! 🥰

That way I don't see a whole bunch of money and think i can go shopping, when it really is allocated for bills like car insurance and house insurance.

  • There are also apps where you can do this, I think the envelope method is for me not practical, and perhaps a bit non-secure. You keep track by adding your expensives in the app. P.s. I'm Dutch, but live in Germany. I know your accent.

    • My bank actually offers something similar but it is too easy for me to just grab the money off of my savings account and thus saving isn’t happening. I noticed that this way the money is hidden from me more effectively and I don’t use it. Die Nederlanders zitten ook overal he 😂 ik hoor dat het wonen in Duitsland wel lekker goedkoop is in vergelijking met hier, vindt jij dat ook?

  • You might want to try the 100 envelope savings challenge. I tried this and found saving very fun and easy. My desire to complete each envelope really encourage me to save more. I thought each dollar I wanted to spend took away from completing an envelope. 100 envelope might be daunting for the first challenge time. you can break it into 25 50 75 100. Funny😅 I just got to the 100 envelope part of the video👍
