(I don't like duck meat so I'd just let the dogs and cats I have benefit from the hunt-why waste what could feed them, right?) Also, any/all dogs I have I plan to train for tracking. As a fan of true crime shows, and as a mother of two, I want to be sure my dogs could help in an investigation should a child go missing locally.

    • The best way to support her is not to sacrifice his own needs or his relationship with her. Just like the dog needs training, people need training too. He needs to let her know that he needs & wants affection at the same time. And she may be surprised and happy to see him take back that power in the relationship and be more of an equal partner. She may find that she enjoys both him and the dog better when they occupy their normal roles in the relationship. do that at the same time as he remains available to offer comfort and support for her grief over being unable to have children. Sometimes when we have a substitute or a crutch like that it, it prolongs the mystery we are using the substitute to comfort ourselves about. In this case it actually takes away from the pleasure of having the dog because it doesn't let the dog be a dog, and at the same time it's me relieve the misery of being childless just enough that she never sits down and says to herself " is it something I can live with and move on from-- perhaps with a little counseling-- or is it something that I want to take some serious action about while I'm still young enough to do so? For example whether or not adoption is right for her the time to consider it is while she's young enough to take her time learning about options and weighing the pros and cons And discussing it with her partner. And if she decides she does then her partner will want to have an opinion too and they will decide whether they want to do that together or they want to solidify their relationship first and so on. If what she has is a baby substitute instead of a pet, and what he has is a roommate instead of a girlfriend or partner. than none of them have the relationship they want.. not the dog, not the partners, and not the future family members if they did choose to adopt...

    @shannon6281@shannon62814 жыл бұрын
    • I believe that it's is more toxic to dogs in larger quantities. Because if a dog eats a bunch of chocolate it needs it's tummy pumped and or it dies. Little amounts and they are perfectly fine. When I have a bigger box of smarties I give my dogs a couple. Same with any other chocolate bar, they get smaller pieces that a smartie and they are perfectly fine afterwords. My aunties dog, when he was alive would fight you for your chocolate bar and he would not quit until he had what he wanted. He was just a little Pomeranian too, but the chocolate helped him, he had heart problems from his birth (wasn't that great. 3 vets worked on the mom) and when his heart slowed down you could tell and his pills were not working a piece of chocolate and that dog could run miles and look like a normal healthy dog. He went off his one pill and lived like that for more than 5 years.

One has extensive public access and the other does uses thier (still fairly) extensive training at *home only* . I don't think this particular dog EVER had a chance to be a service dog (his actual temperment isn't a good choice), but a dog like him (even at his age) could DEFINITELY be trained into a great in-home support dog. He has the brains and energy for it. Unlike ESAs, in-home-support dogs still have ALL of the trained tasks required to aid a disabled person in need. Often, these dogs go to the severely immobilized or elderly because they are a generally better fit than a service dog.

    @Galemor1@Galemor14 жыл бұрын
    • If she has trouble disciplining a little dog, I don't think she's exactly a solid choice to parent a child, particularly the difficulty that can come with fostering children.

      @zammmerjammer@zammmerjammer4 жыл бұрын
    • @@zammmerjammer Depends on the age, but the thing with children is that you can talk and explain things to them, and giving them affection, doesn't make them think they are the boss of the household.. Completely different upbringing than a dog needs. But yeah, knowing how to be strict with a dog, will help you out when it comes to being confident with children too.

  • “I let him pee all over everything and don’t say anything as well as feed him garbage because I love him so much and he’s my baby substitute.” No. You don’t treat him like a baby. No one should raise a baby like that. It’s the same as saying “I have a child and I don’t send him to school, don’t give him any structure, he is controlling and I feed him nothing but Cheetos. Lol he misbehaves all the time and I don’t do anything. But I love him and at least he’s happy right now.” No kid should be raised like that.

    @hotwaterisspicy@hotwaterisspicy4 жыл бұрын
    • We have kids and a dog...I couldn't imagine living in a house where either had no structure. Our kids have rules, our dog has rules. Our dog bonded strongly with my husband, so we switched things up so that she bonded with everyone and listend to us equally. These people want dolls, not children and not dogs. They want something to cuddle and play with without any of the responsibility.

Both need rules, teaching, attention and affection, food, water, you need to clean up after them, they're very often very loud and most often, you need to keep an eye on them when they're little. You cannot raise a good child with no rules and just babying and spoiling them, the same applies to a dog.

Better allround for everyone involved! Dogs are your most prized pets, never a substitude for "human" babies. Love persons for who they are, not for what you would like them to be. It creates more healthy relationships and happier persons. Because I do sincerly believe that dogs are persons too! Great episode.
