Meghan Markle slammed by Sharon Osbourne as Netflix series cancelled

The Duchess of Sussex’s animated show about a young girl has been dropped by Netflix.
The Archewell Productions show Pearl - one of two projects announced as part of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal - was set to focus on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl inspired by influential women from history.
Meghan was to serve as an executive producer of the series alongside David Furnish - filmmaker and husband of Sir Elton John - according to an announcement published on the Archewell website last July.
Pearl has been axed by Netflix as part of strategic decisions the streaming giant is making around animated series.
It is understood Netflix has decided not to move forward with development on several projects, one of which is Pearl.
This is believed to be not uncommon for development, and Netflix recently decided not to move forward with other animated series.
Harry and Meghan signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020.
The news that Pearl is being dropped comes after it emerged that Netflix lost 200,000 users over the first three months of 2022, falling well short of predictions it would add 2.5 million subscribers.

200,000 doesn’t sound like a lot, but Netflix expected to grow by 2.5m at this time, so it’s really a 2.7m loss, plus they expected another 2m in the next quarter, now they expect 0. So that’s a 4.7m loss against expectations which were previously usually accurate.

Great commentary about Harry and Meghan. The comment about their level of disrespect towards the Queen could be extended towards the BP and Commonwealth in that they wilfully trampled the values that we uphold regarding the monarchy and the true meaning of service, and the acceptance simply given. The way they have ruthlessly commercialised their family relationships and royal position and taken full advantage of everyone’s good grace, all the while complaining, criticising and making excuses as if they were children, leaves little room for anything but applause that they are finally being dealt a hand in the world of business.

In a nutshell, they've been given contracts for loads of money, but what they're trying to sell is nothing. They have no marketable skills, and 'Pearl' was essentially an animation version of Meghan. The fact that it's been "in the pipeline" since... what... 2018 (when the first discussions were held with Furnish) without any mentionable progress having been made (even disregarding the fact that she was apparently negotiating terms for merchandising the royal status when she was barely a working royal yet) speaks volumes. Netflix took a long time to realise that they'd bought a pig in a poke, but they couldn't very well ignore losing 200,000 subscribers, which must have smarted in the bank account.
