Learn more about recycling and where the material goes when it leaves your curbside. Take a tour of Pratt Industries Material Recovery Facility in Conyers, GA. Journey along as we take you through our recycling process. Watch as the recovered material arrives via trailers and is sorted by material type (plastic, aluminum, paper). The recovered mixed paper is then taken to our paper mill where it's cleaned, repulped and converted into new 100% recycled paper that's used in Pratt's 100% recycled boxes!
Pratt Recycling is a part of Pratt Industries, the 5th largest corrugated packaging company in the USA and the world’s largest, privately-held producer of 100% recycled containerboard. Pratt Recycling Division is a full service recycler with 19 recycling facilities. Pratt utilizes the paper products collected in the production of its 100% recycled content paper and packaging solutions. Our mission is to create sustainable recycling solutions for our customers that maximize waste diversion, create cost savings and revenue stream for valuable recyclables previously landfilled, all the while minimizing the environmental impact by preserving natural resources for future generations.
Every year Pratt diverts 3 million tons of paper, other recyclable materials and waste-to-clean energy materials from the landfill. Some items that cannot be recycled are used as fuel for Pratt’s clean energy plant which powers the paper-making process. We close the loop! Learn more at Recycle.PrattIndustries.com.

  • I work for Pratt Industries, I only see the converting side where the rolls are turned into corrugated boxes. Then I load them all into semi trailers for different companies. Proctor & Gamble being probably our biggest customer. Pratt is an amazing company to work for. I couldn't be happier with my job. I'm a forklift operator & love it. 🇺🇸

    • Millions of tons of toilet paper is flushed away every day. We should collect it for recycling. It could be used to make many items such as paper plates, drinking cups and straws. They could be dyed brown to hide any leftover impurities.

  • Truly remarkable process. I can’t help but wonder if there would be less need for mechanical sorters if we sorted our recyclables ourselves into different bins rather than all into a blue bin (i.e. glass, cans, cardboard, paper).

    @svcarranza@svcarranza2 жыл бұрын
    • Sorting into different bins leads to higher quality materials, but fewer people actually recycle then. The mixed recycling blue bin is a compromise.

      @NickCBax@NickCBax2 жыл бұрын
    • Where we live, we have blue bins for plastic/metal one week, other week is black bin which is paper/cardboard. Both weeks are also green bin for compostables.

      @Driver0378@Driver0378 Жыл бұрын
    • In our country (Czech Rep.) there is a standard of blue bin for paper and cardboard, yellow bin for plastic and cans and green bin for glass (these are sometimes further separated into white and colored glass). However, no bins for porcelain that still goes to communal waste and all kind of electronics are supposed to go to electroshops which collect them, and unused medicine to apothecaries which collect them, in practice they both mostly end up in communal, even batteries and dangerous stuff. Clothes mostly end up in communal too.

  • And what, SPECIFICALLY, happens to all that plastic? All that's ever said is it is sent "elsewhere", which I interpret to mean it gets either dumped at sea, or sent to some other country for disposal. Most of it, anyway. Most plastics sent to a recycling plant never actually get recycled.

  • It honestly saddens me that people don't sorry their recycling into diff bins. The process would be so much faster and easier if people would just sort them into bins. I sort mine by paper, and by plastic/glass. I actuslly talked to the neighborhood collector and he said my house is nice and easy he just puts each of my bins into each side of the truck. He told me some people will have a plastic bag filled with containers and paper and he has to put it into a different spot to be manually sorted. Just sad how lazy some people are.
