Spotted today doing several low pass flights over runway 23 at Toronto Pearson International Airport YYZ located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The flight inspection aircraft registration C-GFIO can be seen here flying at 1000 feet altitude in line with the runway before climbing and starting over again.

Very cool. I thought I saw this or a similar plane the other day. If you don't mind me asking, what's the purpose of this manoeuvre?
T'was a mystery but after in depth verifications, I discovered that this plane was conducting verifications with the airport's equipment used for regular and emergency procedures such as final descent and missed approach.
