    • Colin: first of all, loved the sentiment of your comment. If your OCD has been relieved, I'm about to stir it up when I say, it's not clear if all THREE missing North Window sections have been fitted. The very bottom right hand corner has been without the small triangular piece all this time too. Certainly the top 2 missing sections have been installed at last. Without further point deductions we're mathematically safe but we can't trust the EPL and their point-deducting commissions, so 3 pts against Luton is a MUST.

    • @davidbadcock2225 Haha, thanks David. I hadn't noticed the third missing piece of glazing in the North Stand but will be sure to look out for it. I saw the two in the top row every time I watched Nick's videos and always managed to spot them on the train on my way into the city centre for work and it would irritate me no end. I'll obviously have to add the third one to my OCD list which is currently topped by the missing coping stone on the media compound. That's been missing for months! Second to that are the weeds on top of the stone turret gateposts which now acts as the main entrance to the site...😬

    • @@colingillbanks4022 Colin: Dave Gerrard informed me after I made the same comment to him that he has seen, on another channel, that the bottom-right glass panel HAS been fitted now. If you look at Nick's latest video you can see that there is scaffolding erected below where the DNOC missing coping stone is, so you might have a bit more relief coming soon. Yes, I agree that the plants in the Gates Towers are an eyesore and begging to be attended to but I'm not sure it's high on the priority list.

  • I'm not an Everton fan, but I'm glad the club has cemented and achieved its place in next season's Premier League. Let's hope Everton are still in the league by the 2025/26 season when they play in their new home. By then I think BMD will be the top 2 if not the best stadium in the PL (Sorry Spurs fans!). If not, I think it would be a huge downer for the club moving into BMD in the EFL Championship.

  • Hi Nick, looking at your recent video, it is amazing to see how the stadium now dominates the who area bringing it back to its historical past importance to the city. Wouldn't it be great if the stadium could be serviced by ferries on matchdays and make the river as busy as when in its former glory days. The river certainly lives up to our anthem, I'm sure it's Royal Blue today.

    • I agree it would be great. But it's just wishful thinking. Because the river is tidal etc. there would have to be a landing stage built, probably the equivalent to that at Woodside and the Pier Head, and I don't think anyone is going to stump up the cost of that for a once a fortnight ferry. I'm thinking of hiring out pedalos from the Eggy Ferry though. Throw some rope ladders over the wall at BMD and away we go....

  • Nick, sometimes you have to analyse the detail of comments. My comment about the pitch area was only about the perimeter, not the main pitch. 1) My point in response to the question was that they have nearly completed doing the following: A) Digging a trench around the perimeter a couple of metres wide and probably about a metre deep max (a guess) B) Lay the black box-shaped ducts/conduits that were visible in previous videos, stacked on the pitch area, in that perimeter 'trench'. These ducts will contain optic fibres and electrical cables for various reasons, not the least of which will be the advertising boards and Pitch Lights Arrays. C) You can see where they have already completed this task as at frequent spots along the perimeter in the differently-coloured sand and next to the base of the concrete terracing, you can see the Access Holes and Covers spaced out around the perimeter where the above has been completed. This is so that the various cables can be inserted into the duct and connected up later. 2) None of the above is anything to do with the work required for the pitch itself. A) As stated above, where they have dug up and replaced the pitch area perimeter, you can see the sand is a natural sand colour whereas the main pitch area is slightly greyed. This is because the whole area wasn't just pure sand but strengthened (I guess with a weak mixture of cement) in order to take all the heavy equipment. B) As we are in May now and there was an official statement to the effect that the work on the pitch would start in May, it's not unreasonable to suggest that work will start soon enough. C) It isn't just a question of doing stuff on top of the current ground. The whole pitch will have to be dug out to remove that weak concrete/sand mixture surface and to the correct level for a number of reasons, not least of which is the drainage pipes that will soak away the 'dirty' water to a main pipe running roughly under the halfway line out under the West Stand and out to the future Water Channel. D) Then there will be a complex grid of fresh-water supplies, connected to the main pipe that comes into the pitch area under the East Stand E) And electrical pipes/wires for the under-soil heating f) That is all beside the construct of the pitch bed itself which will include a strengthening plastic matrix and membranes before the upper levels of sand, eventually Rye-grass seed and the hybrid pitch plastic drilled into the established turf (i.e. after the rye-grass has grown sufficiently).

  • The 6 Columnar Elms located to the North of the Pump House are meant to be joined later by a further 7 such trees extending the line, in the E-to-W direction, towards the NE Corner of the Stadium. If you're standing on the East Plaza, they will detract from the eyeline of the UU building behind and be a higher backdrop to the stage area between the Pump House and the East Stand. The 7 further trees will need that vehicular access area dug out for the ArborSystem pit but that can't yet be done whilst the heavy equipment still needs access to that NE corner 'T-Junction'.

  • Good stuff again Nick. I watched a recent video put out by the Club. I don't think I am allowed to put a link to it but it is called "Fan Plaza Progress at Everton Stadium" if you search KZhead. Interesting at about 3.40 to 3.55 minutes you can so clearly see the Leitch design in the brickwork (artists rendition obviously) on the East stand brickwork whereas we can't seem to see it at the moment on recent videos. I wonder how long it will take for the brick to "weather', or whatever the right term is, before the design is as clearly visible? And while I am on about "weathering bricks"...I asked a question about 4 or 5 days ago on another one of your videos but didn't get a reply so still wondering. Here it was: As far as I understand it, when they removed the bricks from the wall in order to install the gates, they preserved the bricks so they could use the same ones in order to reconstruct the wall around the gates. So that being the case, why are the bricks a lighter colour than the rest of the wall near them? Surely they didn't sandblast them or give them a good scrubbing? I'm sure they will blend in over time but I'm just wondering what happened to them? Cheers

    @06skippy06@06skippy0613 күн бұрын
    • Skippy: Great Q. I don't know the answer for sure but I'd hazard a guess they did bath the stones in a cleaning agent to remove dust, soot, oil and other debris, but that's all. As you speculate, it'll probably blend in over time. If you look closely at the INSIDE of the wall (i.e. from the East Plaza itself, you will see that the BMD stretch of the wall is not itself completely uniform anyway, so it's unlikely to be an eye-sore. Who knows, it might even be done on purpose so that people can more easily spot where to aim for in a crowded plaza after the game?

Dan Meis wanted a certain level of contrast for the Leitch design to appear. We know that Dan Meis is disappointed in the appearance so, I can only guess that they will NOT appear as evident as in the image, even over time. You can definitely catch better glimpses of them under different light levels particularly when the camera is closer to head height. I don't know why it is that the probable spec and the reality differ. the most reliable spot to see them is on the NNW facade in dull light. There is one particular droner who goes much lower and slower around the ground and nearly always reveals them as a result.

    • The idea is to keep people in and around the ground for longer pre and post match to increase spending by fans. Metering of exit will be done internally with most entrances and exits on the east and south sides. It’s obviously been built to much stricter regs than we’re in place when the grounds where the two disasters you mention were built. It’s all covered in minute detail in the published plans if you’re genuinely curious 👍

Beyond the plans being passed for all the up-to-date HSE parameters, I did a calculation based on allowing each person 0.6m width (the stadium seats are 0.47m wide) and allowing each person 3s to pass through (a conservative estimate). • It may look shiny in blue-skied reflection on a bright day. It is aluminium, after-all, even if a matt finish as a result of being naturally-anodised, rather than the anodised, shiny aluminium of the barrel-cladding. The Standing-seam roof will reflect the sky to an extent, depending on the angle viewed, the time of day and the weather. • The weather makes it look unbelievable. Are all the black window slats temporary for protection? The North Stand slats is quite overkill and the materials don't match the high quality of all the impressive glass. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of solar panels they use.

    @user-wp8ff4rb2w@user-wp8ff4rb2w13 күн бұрын
    • Has the club thought about supplying the current and new businesses in the locality with cheap green energy from the solar panels? We work with community organisations to ensure they pay half the price for energy through solar panels. This would make businesses more viable throughout the year, good community engagement and mainly a use for all that energy the solar panels with be producing on non-game days.

    • User: I'm not sure what you mean by window slats but if you mean the black-coated aluminium panels that create a sort of barcode look in the brick facade, then I can tell you they're permanent. They have detail and a role to perform. If I have your point of reference wrong, then please give me a timestamp and further reference points for a more comprehensive response. The PV Array is planned to be an area of about 2050 sq.m's and I believe that means it should produce over 2m kWh's annually. I don't have the spec of the actual units that will be used nor what the expected energy use in the stadium will be but I doubt very much there will be 'spare' energy produced beyond the needs of the stadium itself, particularly as the stadium will have ongoing constant power needs for hospitality, retail outlets and maintenance, so I can't comment any further

      @davidbadcock2225@davidbadcock222513 күн бұрын
    • @@davidbadcock2225 appreciate the reply. Yes the black aluminium panels - so will these be lit up at night as it shows in the original images? Hospitality, retail and maintenance doesn't appear to be high usage, I can imagine generators, refrigeration, heating and cooling systems being high - it'll be interesting to see what the actual usage is when things have stabilised. I think Wembley uses 4,000kWh each game, so an average household for one year.

      @user-wp8ff4rb2w@user-wp8ff4rb2w13 күн бұрын
    • @@user-wp8ff4rb2w Paul: Yes, I used the terms Hospitality, Retail and Maintenance on purpose to cover all the aspects you have also mentioned. The stadium is designed to be open and working at all times, not just match days, so AC/Refrigeration etc will all be running continuously (as an aside the hot air extraction system will also have a heat recovery system applied to it and CO2 sensors to detect the extent of personal usage of specific areas). Hopefully, generators will only be used in emergency as the stadium is connected to the power grid anyway. The black panels are perforated in areas where people are using corridors or stairwells etc. They are solid where they hide walls behind them.. The perforations allow air-passage but act as baffles as well. They will allow some sight of the external views from within. As for lighting they will only reflect light to a degree or allow a little light through from the passageways behind. Glass is only provided in areas where people will be using the space for any length of time (lounges, bars etc), rather than the largely servicing areas of corridors and stairways, which is what the panels merely hide.

    • Antony: the discussion was about the ducts and coinduits that are being/have been laid around the perimeter of the pitch. They had to dig up a few metres width of the edge area and down about a metre (that's a rough guess) in order to put in large box conduits. You can see the inspection and access 'manhole' covers around the perimeter. Into those conduits they will lay optical fibre cables and power cables for all sorts of reasons, not the least of which is the advertising boards and the Pitch Lighting Arrays etc. Then, separately from that, they will dig out all of the main pitch area to remove the hardened sand/cement mixture which was laid there to support the heavy equipment during the build, before laying an intricate web of pipes for watering (you could see the incoming water supply pipe on a previous video, coming in from under the East Stand), dirty water removal and reclamation (most of which will connect to main outflow pipes under the West Stand to the future water channel) , and ducts for cables for the pitch heating. It's a complex web.
