Still waiting to see someone make a video with bats made of exotic hardwoods. I don’t think Ash and Maple are the best, they’re just the best for production at scale. How sweet would it be to see bats made of Purple Heart, Cocobolo, Rosewood, etc. There are tons of wood turning channels on KZhead that I’m sure would love the opportunity to make such unique bats and partner with you guys on a video.
I was thinking they could turn the stock bat until the barrel was about fungo thickness, and glue on a hollow purpleheart cover-- but I can't even imagine the amount of work that would go into it.

The concrete was a training weight
The old days, Major leaguers used to score/key up their bats to harden the bat. Not really surprised that Eric's bat did better. The concrete harden inside the scored grooves of his bat. It is so much fun watching these guys make content. A little side note with Cole. The improvement for Cole's performance is that he was able to generate a faster bat swing since he lighten up his bat. He does not have to struggle with the forces of inertia as much if he was still using a stock bat. Bat speed typically improves EV.
Scoring up wood does not make it harder the scoring of the bats in the old days was about causing more friction on the surface of the bat causing crazy spin and also better grip if done on the handle. There are ways to harden wood none involve scoring it almost all are about pulling more moisture out or applying a type of coating to it's surface or a coating that can penetrate the wood. And the only thing about the concrete that might have helped is it being able to pull more moisture out of the bat hardening it up. The concrete in the scored grooves was nonexistent cause it turned to dust. And also his increased EV could easily be because he was just hitting better that day or swinging harder.
Eric’s first swing with the concrete broke away all the unnecessary excess concrete, and left basically what Tosh had on his bat. all thats left is to sand the concrete so its smooth and now thats gonna hit NUKES

I feel like the concrete needs to be reinforced maybe like there use wire mesh or rebar to reinforce concrete I think there's even fiber reinforced concrete. Then if you want to cork a bat you need to use cork filler it comes in a can it looks and feels like cork because it is but it's in a can that looks like a paint can and the cork filler is like a paste people use it for leather making things I think and shoe making etc.. but if you get the cork filler you can pack it tight into the bat then glue a wood plug over the hole and you'll have a properly corked bat.
@Eric, you should have gotten some sand paper for roughing up your bat instead of rubbing it on concrete my boy! Just an idea for future ideas just in case. 👍

Easy solution to making it heavier. Drill out middle, add concrete, seal end. Then it doesn’t ruin your hitting surface and won’t break apart when used.
As a guy that uses the spray foam and caulking for a living you gotta let the foam harden before you caulk over it

Eric should have done the same thing cole did and “corked” the bat with concrete. Use TINY pieces of rebar to add a little weight and use caulk or something to cap the top off and flatten it out. I think that actually would have done alright.
